Even Noah said it! Asafa's technique was crazy!
I would love to hear Maurice Greene on the show!
He was my favorite sprinter.
WE NEED THAT ‼️
True dat Asafa said no social media back then. Asafa and Justin sharing the WR was insane! And the amount of times the WR was beaten by Asafa was equally insane. Gratitude 😊🎉
I want to see more interviews with you guys and Asafa. He is super chill and you guys have great chemistry
Ato Boldon brought style to the 100m. Dude eyewear was always fresh!
Yea he was only one wear black socks. Michael Johnson as well earrings gold chain watch earrings gold spikes
Naa he didn't there were others long before him
I think the Ben Johnson vs Carl Lewis rivalry put the 100 on the map.
Asafa is such a great guy
Franno won discus and I think shot putt at Boys champs for Wolmer’s boys school. I remember him practicing every day for hours. Very determined young man. Respect to him👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
There are two coach Francis Steven Francis and Paul Francis from my understanding Paul was the athlete and Steven helped to coach him at Wolmer’s in the throws while he(Steven was at UWI)
@@kayceeDis I was there and was on the track team at that time. Stephen
@@kirkvacianna3716You’re correct The great Hubert Lawrence mentioned this on a panel before
@kayceeDis is that so? Where u get this nonsense info from?
@@unconventionalcrosy52 He said it in an interview. You should try listening to it.
This is clip is a GEM!! Big Up Yuh Faaast Self Afasa!!
Big Up yuhself Justin
Bro this is the best T&F podcast right now! So chilling these guys just relaxing and discussing track. 🔥
Frank Fredericks🇳🇦🇳🇦🇳🇦
RSG,you guys are the best, and I just can't get enough of this podcast.❤❤❤
Y’all need to get mo green on here
I’d add Donovan Bailey to the entertainment pioneer list just prior to Greene
How was donovan entertaining? I remember all his major finals an only his reactions after winning was the only thing worth mentioning
Id have to agree Asafa was perfect every time, except for when it mattered the most. Massive underperformer.
I love this podcast 👍🏾
Fredericks and Obikwelu are such deep cuts. 2004 100m…good times.
That’s ‘throp’s” , set. Throp doing his thang.
Big up Ato Boldon with the iconic eyewear
No Jamaican will do that Tongue madness
The mental aspect was lacking though..he chocked one to many with serious competition
The man said he always got injured
You got it right. If he was able to handle pressure, he would've won the 2004 olys and most of the WCs before 2008. I believe Bolt is the only sprinter who could regularly beat a healthy Asafa if he could remain calm under pressure.
That does not make him lack or weak. He did the best he could and more than most of all you people who are running your mouths. If you all can do better, then do it and stop judging others.
@@cosmicwisdom999 Nothing judgmental here, pal...it's such an easy observation hahaha
The most sud 10 in history remember dat to know doping added
kishane Thompson similar to Linfird Christie
Kishane has nothing similar to Christie except height they are both tall muscular men. Two different running styles u need glasses
@@unconventionalcrosy52well people liked my comment so I must be onto something. Als9 Jamaicans comparing him to asafa but he more built like and run like linford. He don't run like asafa nor is he Asafa height or built.
@DanielIsraelite do u know kishanes height? Did you know he's over 6ft tall, so is Christie so is asafa. An he runs nothing like any of them
I agree Kishane runs like Linford
I ran the 400 and Michael Johnson was who i looked at to try to pattern my form after. Thats my favorite sprinter
How successful was you I always thought he slightly leaned back to enable him to have a longer stride for someone who wasn’t tall but it puts a lot strain on lower back and core
@peerlessbeard8914 well I set the county record for middle school in 8th grade with a 58 then high school I went to state in Florida in the 4x4 but I ran a 48 my senior year of high school n broke out county record with a 50. I hurt myself doing long jump in district so I didn't heal in time for reigonals but my sub made it in the 4x4. N we got 3rd and I ran the fastest split at 47. I was a 4 sport athlete too track was my 3rd focus. I didn't want to compete in college cause I had better offers for academic scholarships. I actually walked on the track team and ran a 51 in a meet in college but I had to work to get myself through so I hung it up.
I think the definition of the « perfect » sprinter is objectified by the results of their times. If your running style break records? Therefore this would be considered « perfect »
Nevertheless, Asafa’s running style was art and seamlessly executed.
The man is the fourth fastest human on record , his technique is the best , if he wasnt injured that man would have done faster times.
@@lovezone128 I believe that too, so what would we say about Bolt or especially Kishane....if he breaks the record?
No, man, if you are extremely naturally gifted like Usain Bolt, Kishane Thompson or Christian Coleman, you can run really, really fast even though the technique and form are far from perfect.
@@desmondyung « Naturally gifted » is such a weird saying…because out of all these 3, 1 was caught under PEDs. 1 retired without any mention of PEDs. And 1 is under suspicion of PEDs. LOOL again I am not discounting their anatomy as human beings …BUT I never believe this « naturally gifted » rhetoric.
Asafa broke the world record about 4 times if I am not mistaken so that technique did him well.
For Asafa to be a perfect sprinter he would of had to take his 200m more seriously to help his maintenance in the 100. Tall sprinters shouldn't be getting run down repeatedly in the 100 meters.
Disagree with you he did break the record a few different times not many sprinters can do that. As for Usain even though his records speak for themselves you can definitely see where improvements could have been made. As unfathomable as that might seem he could have probably gone even faster. That's how I know these records can still be broken. Just imagine a Usain bolt with asafas technique and you'll see it's definitely possible.
It was mental, his mind was weak
True. Powell stopped running the deuce after he injured his groin the second time. I don't blame him.
He stopped running 200s because they caused him groin pain.
Getting run down isn't about being tall or not. 100m sprinters usually are much better in either the start or the end of the race. In asafa's case, his start was the better part. Rivals like Bolt and Gay were better in 2nd half of 100. A good finisher will always close the gap on a fast starter. Asafa's problem was that he couldn't remain relaxed when this would happen because of the pressure to win especially at WCs and Olympics. His teammate Shelly-ann was also a fast starter who hardly ever run 200s (except last few yrs) and she rarely ever got run down because she can handle pressure and remain relaxed.
@@jacan4eva yup if he had taken on the 200 he'd have had a much much shorter career. I thought this honestly was common knowledge. If he had the 1,2 strength and endurance he'd have been super nasty.
I don't know about that tongue madness, just Noah take that tongue madness from Maurice
