- We finally meet Greg's brother and he shows us his homemade bacon recipe! Then, Greg takes the meat to the bush to smoke it over an open campfire. Also, find out what Greg named his new outdoor companion!
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

I love making slab bacon! Tell Trevor he can quarter a slab and put it in pot covered in olive oil and cook it low and slow till it falls off a skewer. Confit bacon! Awesome! Great to see you learning a new technique Greg. Thanks for this wonderful cook. You guys are making it happen man.🐸🍺🤙🔥

Greg you can smoke it for weeks till it is black. In Germany the black forest ham is smoked for weeks until he is black, that is the reason for the name black forest ham or bacon. Smoking only with hard wood. Very important. Take care

I had some triple smoked bacon from the butchers the other day and oh my lawdd it was the best bacon I've ever eaten. So worth the extra price!
Try fresh eggs from a farm, also 10X better than what you get from the grocery store
@@MaliciousSRT yes!! I didn’t believe it at first but my grandpa has a chicken coop in his backyard. Everytime I go up there we eat eggs he gathers that morning, bacon from a Amish, and homemade biscuits. The best eating ever!! So much better than factory eggs.
Specialty bacon IS worth paying more to put on the table. We alternate between a local producer and Harrington's, a fine smokehouse in Vermont. I like bacon to be moderately smoked and thickly cut. Then I slow cook it in the pan to render the fat while leaving an appetizing 'chew.'

Many of us truly appreciate Greg and all he does.
I personally consider his channel the best because in addition to being informative at times, it shows the things that can go wrong as they sometimes do. He does not hide that. Just takes it in stride.
This is not a "fake bushcraft" channel where everything goes perfectly, and the mistakes are edited out.
Which makes it the most realistic channel of this genre.
Kudos to Greg and Zach for that. Keep it up.
On a side note - I like "Bushcraft Buddy". Hard letters like B's carry farther when you have to call your dog from a distance. It gets their attention much quicker.
But, if the dog is the kind that likes to stay by your side, that's not an issue.
A great channel by a humble guy. The best kind.
