I have been wanting to get a mustang for years now ! I still have a lot of work before I can adopt one . I did a metal fence , shelter , the money to pay for it ! I also need to find out more as to what other requirements needs to be met in order to adopt one ! I have a little 24 acre farm in south central Kansas !Bureau of Land Management rounds up mustangs every year some are taken to a place near my farm where people work with them some and put them up for adoption ! Last I knew it costs $300.00 per horse to adopt them and whatever feed one would need to start with !
@@Child_of_Amun (late response but screw it) Unlikely, as the Andalusian was a horse for the noblemen. It's very likely the mustangs are Spanish work horses and war horses. Nonetheless they were mixed with Arab and northern African horses.
I might have to retrace my book, but in the Cronica De La Nueva Espana, or the history of new Spain by Cervantes Salazar, describing the early Mexican tribes and cultures before the conquest of the Aztecs, he describes that unlike the Spanish horses which they brought which were neutral in color, greys, browns, whites and blacks, the horses they saw in Mexico and around the country were in such a diversity of colors, variants, some spotted that they differed greatly from those of Europe and Iberia. This busts the myth then that the Spanish brought the horse here when they were described in this book as already being here, I would have to double check though because it’s only in Spanish and has to be translated but I remember that’s what it said, maybe one of you can check it out
These mustangs are a Heinz 57. They’re “Spanish”. But this movie is awesome. Most say it is actually just a story from Hopkins and isn’t even real. But who cares, let these people with these mustangs have their doctored history of their horses. No different than people who believe the nonsense about Arabians
i did sleep in this tepee!!! in browning at bob's ranch ....funny i was there 2 tilmes 3 months and trained the fastest and best horses ever in my live
Ford mustang was named after the P51 Mustang plane. But they used the horse as the logo for the car. But then again, why not, the natives knew how to utilize them and became the terror of the plains and the P51 mustang was the terror of the skies.
Horses have always been in the America's...yes the Spanish did bring horses here more than 500 years ago. But horses have always been here...so it is wrong to say that horses weren't here before the Spanish introduced the Iberian horses. Horses are indigenous to the America's, and they did not all die out, they have always been here.
Horses were here but they were viewed at a good source by early First Nations. So when the Spanish came they knew of them from stories/etc but they were opened to a new use of horses other then food
Sorry, not good enough. This mythical tale is still shrouded in mystery. Never solid proof of any of it, which is very convenient don't you think. They need to recreate this contest in real life.....That will sort the men from the boys don't y'all think??? the minute I heard this tall tale I was highly doubtful to say the least. Arabians are frigging endurance machines. Why not recreate this contest? If Hidalgo was so unique what does it say about the breed? If he was a once off what good is that? Have there been any Hidalgo's since? ...go figure... The mystery shroud works well for this tall tale. Sad, actually.
Arabians are only about 100 years old. The myth is that they are ancient. They were invented by the Victorians. When the Yemini led Moors invaded Spain they brought barely enough horses to count on 2 hands. They took back thousands when they left.
Best horse film
very nice. I am blessed to see the spanish mustangs. They are sacred to me and my people. thank you for your appreciation to the breed.
+John Garcia I've been privileged to have met the breed & had one at home, I'm spoiled!
I was enthralled by the story if Hidalgo. The film was equally great to watch, if somewhat dramatized for public consumption.
They were descended from the Al-andalusian horses brought to spain by African and Arab muslims

So you're saying these mustangs didn't need to be tainted with thoroughbred horse blood, to be "improved" upon, like I just heard from another stream?

Clearly you do not own a Spanish Colonial Mustang or have any experience with them.
Mustang 😞 like a car name?
A Ford named after a Fast Horse from the Spaniards

They existed, but were hunted to extinction by the natives.

I wish the aztecs could've tamed the horse

It is all about stories, and telling ones that are moving and inspiring and keep the heart going.
