I met him one time back in '94 at a convenience store in Lewisville, Tx. I was behind him in line and he asked the clerk for a can of Copenhagen. As soon as he spoke, I recognized his voice without seeing his face. When me and my dad walked outside, my dad asked him if he was Randy White and he said "yeah', and my dad not knowing what else to say, asked him if he could shake his hand and Randy said sure. It was kind of awkward, but Randy was a nice guy. He was my dad's favorite player, it was really something that we got to meet him like that.

Met him at his BBQ place years ago. I was killing time between closing and funding of a real estate transaction. He came up and introduced himself and asked how everything was. I told him it was great and we talked about the Landry years for a few minutes. I told him about a picture of him in the paper once, he had an opposing player by the jersey with one hand, Redskins I think, and the player's helmet in the other. It looked like he was beating the guy with his own helmet. He had this little smile, and said, "Well, things happened." Nicest guy in the world. You would never know what a savage he was on the field.

Randy is my all-time favorite. I have been blessed to be able to call him a friend now which still is hard to believe but I have asked him about that game, I had it in my head it was vs. the Rams but he corrected me that it was the Bears, he said the guy kept chopping him in his knees and we warned him twice, the third time Randy said "I grabbed his face mask and tried to rip his head off." Dead serious. I laughed but realized he wasn't using a euphemism, he meant it! Randy is as good a person as he was a player, I've watched him be approached and every single time he is kind and gracious. We were at a shooting range and one of the range masters was a young marine, a asked him if he knew who that was (Randy) he didn't but when I told him his eyes got big and asked can you introduce me?! I did and Randy picked up on the knife the young man was wearing as Randy builds them, the guy shows it to him and Randy in a tank top & shorts pulls one of his out of his waistband and the kids thinkin that's awesome, Randy says "you like that?" Of course it's yes! Randy says write down your address for me and I'll send you one.
That's the kinda guy he is. A+++ dude.

@@paineintheass233 The time that Page played in was one in which the size of linemen was growing, pushing up to the 270 level, and Page himself was losing weight. Towards the end of his time with the Vikings, he was down to less than 220 pounds. Page's game was getting off the ball fast, hitting a gap fast, and exploiting it.

As a NFL fan for many decades, I will say he is the best l have ever seen at his position. It is just a coincidence that I am a Cowboys fan. He was a difference maker, and that is the type of player that goes in Hall of Fames and Rings of Honor.

I always heard Randy was strong as heck in high school benched 300 and over 400 in college he was never weak. He also wasn't small. 6 ft 4 260? He was a phenom on the D line. And I'm from Baltimore so I followed him in college.

In 1983 me and my girlfriend saw Dallas and Pittsburgh at tx stadium . To watch Randy while and no doubt the absolute best center the late great mike Webster . It was epic battle, at the end of the game they had such great respect for each other. That was my Superbowl. A truly magnificent day.

Another excellent analysis on your part, wow! When they moved Randy from LB to DT I wondered if he was large enough. I found out that yes he was. Randy and Harvey worked so well together on that right side, amazing!

I had a friend that played on the offensive line in the NFL during the Randy White era and he stated that Randy could do whatever he wanted to do and no one could stop him except on the plays that he took off....as most all NFL players will do once in awhile.

People forget how good the Cowboys front four was. Randy White and Harvey Martin were so good playing off each other. Harvey had 20 sacks in 1977 and 14 in 1976 and 1978. Then there was Too Tall Jones who if he didn't get a sack could knock the ball down with his tall height. If they were doubling Randy then Harvey Martin would get a sack or Too Tall.

Randy white was an elite athlete who had a freakish combination of size, strength, and speed. He was dominant, even in the NFL, a league full of freakish athletes. Randy White had the athleticism to excel in practically any sport that required speed and strength - football, boxing, wrestling, rugby, MMA, etc. He was brutal.
