I’m working on self control this Lent, specifically around health and wellness as I live for sweets and junk. I am completely cutting these things out of my life during this time.
I'm doing that too! No sugar and no potato chips. I've also quit Instagtam for Lent as I spend too much time using it. For mr it's about realigning my priorities and makr a better use of my time.
Our Christian Catholic faith is very beautiful...miraculously beautiful. Being faithful to Jesus and His teachings and practice them daily is very comforting ...very fulfilling. I always remind myself that I am not perfect and that only the Holy Family are the perfect humans. But whenever I find myself not in line with our faith, I need to get up again. You see, life is like the boxing sport..you lose because you did not get up, you win because you get up! Go deeper and search what God is telling us. God asked Adam and Eve "where are you?" He is asking where are we now with our relationship to Him! Let us all be other centered but not self centered. Grace and peace to all. Shalom!
My word will be kindness. I have slipped into a bitter judgy gossipy person and I’m not proud of it! I have been praying what do you want me to do please show me. And since nothing is a coincidence, your video came up for a reason. Now I feel all set.
I want to let go and let God this Lent. Instead of always worrying about what will be. I want to just fall into His Love and know His plan the very best for me. I want to follow in the footsteps of Mother Teresa, Padre Pio, Catherine of Siena, and St Elizabeth Anne Seton to name a few. Praying for God to give us all the strength we need.
I’m going to be Confirmed this Easter! I’m discerning still but considering giving up all social media for this Lent. Like just using my phone for calls/texts/emails. How much more time would I have to spend with God in prayer, studying the faith, and being so much more engaged in my vocation as a wife and mother?! I also like to add something positive during Lent as well. I am thinking about choosing a set number of biographies or autobiographies of Saints to read during Lent. As far as fasting, I’m going to honor those days recommended and I have been vegan for many years so no animal meat to give up. I really want my soul and heart to be as pure as possible before Confirmation🙏🏻❤️✝️
This year will be the first time I will try and observe lent properly. My will is to as a non-catholic raised in a pentecostal church, pray the rosary 📿, learn to be thankful and stop having self-deprecating thoughts and words, be less judgemental and angry on f.b. 2020 was the toughest year of my life, I became a single mother again 🤦♀️ and was dumped in a horrible way by the person I thought I would be with for the rest of my life. As well as trying to finish my masters. I need to learn how to be grateful for the situation I'm in now as it could be worse, it is so hard though, I feel like my life has ended. Thank you for this video
Bless your heart. Girl you got this. Your life hasn’t ended, just a crappy chapter in your book. You’ve got a fresh new chapter waiting. It’s going to be great.
I am a Catholic convert; I was also raised in Pentecostal churches. (My dad was a pastor for a number of years.) I'm praying this Lent draws you closer to the Lord, to our Blessed Mother, and strengthens you for the challenges you are facing.
As a non catholic, I also observe lent and want to do it "properly" this year. I try to focus more on what God wants from me, rather then what the church says I need to do. I'm doing a no spend 40 and want to read the Bible more/watch christian movies and just be more inspired.
Honestly? Well, that's my word! Honestly, I am going to just rest in reading the bible and journaling my thoughts, inviting the Holy Spirit to be my guide during this Lenten season. I am burned out in my spiritual life and I want to use this time to discern what God has in store for me. It's no accident I happened upon this channel this morning.
Thank you....this time last year I was going to receive confirmation and then the church closed because of convid and here I am still with no confirmation and I have been just watching videos and watching mass on tv and for me it’s not the same. I am doing this only by my own knowledge and reading. I will go into understanding as much on my own and you are an inspiration to me. Thank you for your help
My word for lent is "Simplicity." I believe God is calling me to live more simply. It is my hope to make this lent more meaningful - to go deeper. It is so tough with having to work, but not impossible!! I'm asking God for extra graces to slow down and spend more time with Him.
This will be our fist Lent as Catholics. In fact we take first communion on Feb 27th. Thank you for the lovely Christmas card. It meant a lot to me. Heather ,your videos have been so helpful to me on this journey to the Church. As for a book, Francis DeSales book, A Devout Life, really made me question some of my Protestant beliefs and caused me to consider the Catholic Church. As for a word for Lent, I am choosing Faithful. I think that is what God wants of all of us and what a different world this would be if we were faithful to God's teachings.
I love your sweet spirit. Like many, I was severely under catechized growing up through no fault of my late parents, since they didn't know themselves. Technology has helped this a great deal, but also people like yourself, who take the time to share the faith, and things that aid you in your walk, has been invaluable. Thank you! Bless you and your family. :)
During Ash Wednesday mass last night, Fr. was speaking about giving up those things that are wasting your time, really look at what you are watching on tv or youtube or any other media and ask yourself is this good for me and my family. I decided to reread all my RCIA handouts, and really learn about the Catholic faith, and not watch a channel unless it has truly useful information. There is so much else I could be doing, and life is too short too waste time. Thanks for your informative videos. God Bless
My word is prayer. Last year my family and I grew in prayer but we've dropped the ball since the begining of the year. So this lent we will be renewing our daily prayers and rosary
Mine coming out from my heart to do this lent season is to pray more Rosary & Consecrations prayers from the heart, thinking those who suffer & struggling due to lack of faith and depression. I am thinking that will help many people deliver from the evils of these current times happening around our personal and social situations. This is my sacrifice for lent.
My word for Lent is going to be Deepen. My word for the year is Strengthen. I can't strengthen my relationship until it goes deeper, so I'm going to use Lent to really dive into deepening my relationship with Jesus.
I have been a protestant (United Methodist, Lutheran, Assemblies of God, and delved into SDA) my whole life, and I this past week decided to convert to Catholicism. I have been devouring Catholic UA-cam videos and blogs cncerning doctrine/Church history like a mad woman. I am thoroughly enjoying your channel in between my studies. I have not been to Mass yet, just watched my local parish on FB. And I know I need RCIA. Thank you for helping me on this journey.
My word will be LOVE, to do everything with love, help my family, spend time with God everyday. I want to read the Dairy of Saint Faustina, give up junk food and social media.
The one word challenge is such a great idea! *Detachment* has been a recurring word that’s been popping up in my life, so I think I’ll have to figure out a way to go about that :)
The word for lent is patience. I will be fasting and giving up a few things. But mostly I will be working to be closer to God, through prayers, devotional, Mass Every day and taking the Lenten Journey with mother Mary.. I want to be a better person by Easter🙏
Thank you so much for this. I felt like I was on a mini retreat! You always have such a beautiful way of sharing, and truly I can see the Holy Spirit working through you. I will be using this theme for my Lenten walk this year. God bless!
Hello Friends! Lent starts in one week! What is your word this Lent? What is your game plan for Lent this year? And please share your favorite Saint Books below! Hope you have an amazing LENT!
St Therese of Lisieaux always. Giving up one's own will in little things is indeed the little way to sainthood. This video reminded me of her once more. Thank you so much for this inspiring video.
My word is temperance. I struggle so much with gluttony when it comes to food and have a compulsive eating disorder. My focus is to turn my eating over to the Lord and let Him purify me in this area. What that looks like for me is to completely cut out sugar and processed foods for Lent. Remove the foods that trigger my addiction and when it gets overwhelming to cling to the cross and ask Jesus to help me walk where he walked and choose to serve the Father anyway.
The interior castle by saint teresa of Avila! I’m reading it right now and it has helped me so much pray with the heart and not just with words. Viva Cristo Rey !
Thank you for the thoughts & inspiration! I liked "My Sisters The Saints" by Colleen Carroll Campbell & "A Book of Saints for Catholic Mom's" by Lisa Hendey. I also am really enthralled with St. Catherine of Siena & St. Teresa of Avila & I'm hoping to learn a lot from them to be closer to God! Good Lent everyone!! My word? Contemplation ❤️
I read a novel version of the life of St Benedict called Citadel of God a while back. The author was a German Catholic named Louis de Wohl. He has a number of books based on different saints. Some people may like that approach.
In my planner this week, I wrote under goals to reflect on: "What lives at the heart of challenges is Grace". Finding this video/post wove so completely into that and forward into lent. Our family is homeschooling this year and we are watching some phenomenal videos about the saints and finding inspiration and messages of grace. Last week was the movie "Fatima" & it was fantastic to see my kids connect to other children experiencing prayer and miracles.
Hi Heather thank you so much for this video. I was waiting for something like this from you. For the past year I’ve been wanting to get closer to God but have not had the courage to do it on my own. Meaning I’ve been waiting for my husband to join me but he refuses so I’ve decided to start without him. I know now that God will walk with me. So for this Lent I will start veiling every time I walk into church and I will try to attend at least one weekly mass 😊🙏🏼 PS: I’ve also started praying the rosary 📿 everyday
Thank you so much ❤ I'm totally will try to read life of Saints this lent. I live in non believing family, and have some health issues, so I've never fasted, and I always feel bad about it. I always feel like I can't do anything.(( About saints: I was searching about saints and came across this article "Finding your patron saint". I already have the word and the verse of the year, so by suggestion and with generator from this article I decided to choose my saint for this year. And I got St Guy. Great video Heather your faith and devotion to God are so inspiring and refreshing. You have helped this Nazarene girl to understand and appreciate the Catholic faith so much more. Both of my grandmothers were Catholic and even though I was saved in a Protestant church I had a special connection with both of them and I know their prayers for me made a huge difference in my finding Christ as my savior, I did not meet either of them until I was in my early twenties but they both told me they had prayed for me and I treasure that. You truly walk out your faith daily and I appreciate your willingness to share, God has truly give you a gift to communicate to women 💕
Very Amazing! I actually didn’t see Lent in this way but this is definitely helping me. We all have to endure and live life for Jesus. He loves us and cares for us and will never leave us! He knows that pain and hardship, He feels it too. Lean on God, Trust in God, run to God. God Bless you Heather and your family and everyone else!
We are that exhausted couple, so yes. Getting up, doing the hard thing and leaving resentment for my sleeping husband at the door! Ha ha. But really he works really hard at a physically demanding job! Getting closer to those two perfect parents to get us closer to their son by praying the rosary and consecration to st. Joseph.
My word for this lent is fasting. Something that I have never been good at, but I feel that it will make lent much more meaningful. My favorite saints books are My Sisters the Saints by Colleen Carroll Campbell and Rediscover the Saints by Matthew Kelly.
Its a good point to hear about saints , my husband and I hear every morning a short story about a saint of every day of each month , u can find it on your phone called Franciscan media , its called Saint of the Day, for us its being a great spiritual growth in or daily lives.
My word is Grow in Faith and my plan to the lent is pray the rosary everyday. My favorite book of 5he Saints is Sant Gianna Moll: wife, mother, doctor. Kisses from Brazil
2020, for me, was the best Lent ever...the whole pandemic that shook us and bonded us (during that time) was the unexpected best. Interested to see how 2021 will turn out!
Hi Heather...thank you for helping us tp prepare for the beautiful season of Lent. I think my word will be Discipline. I really need to exercise discipline in several areas of my life....this will be difficult for me to “reign in” so I will need to really rely on grace from God. P.S. where did you get your wooden pallet wall plaques of Jesus and Mary that were in your last video?
apart from the beautiful message you shared in this video, a call to sainthood...i just want to say that you have beautiful icons in your home! ❤ like a little church 😍 @A Catholic Mom's Life
I am going to do the 40 day activated disciple challenge by ascension press. I don't know how it will go. I feel like I am just kinda going the motions lately so I am hoping this pulls me out of that.
I have BIG plans for this lent. I want to do a no spend 40 where I don't spend anything on anything unnecessary, not eating out, I have a 40 day prayers (a different prayer a day) some movies I want to watch (pinocchio, narnia, the chosen, light and sound jesus play) obviously reading the gospels and I really want to fast Wednesday, like no food what's so ever.
This Lent I need to honor my mother and father so much more and humble myself and consecrate myself to Mary!
Me tooo

Me too!🙏🍀
Me too
The word for me this lent is Faith, I really want to learn more. I'm a college student giving up videogames for lent and going to go to daily mass.
This is a big deal. Good for you for giving up gaming and listening to mass instead. I hope my boy do that
That would be just awesome.
This is so awesome! Good for you.
God bless you🙏

I just read Proverbs - boy, lots of great advice in that book - helped me a bunch :) I'm 71 - not a chick
This lent I want to do Rosary every single day, observe lent properly (no fish, meat, & milk products), & pray more.
AMEN!!!
I want to let go and let God this Lent. Instead of always worrying about what will be. I want to just fall into His Love and know His plan the very best for me. Congratulations on your upcoming Confirmation!! Prayers for you!
That’s amazing! Who’s your confirmation Saint?
That’s awesome! I’m planning on giving up my phone except calls/texts/emails. I’ll be praying for you leading up to your confirmation!! God bless!

Detachment from the world is my new year resolution and it is also the center of my Lenten meditations.

We just got "sitting with the saints" it's a childrens book with stories of saints and related meditations. Its very cute
St Therese of Lisieaux always. Giving up one's own will in little things is indeed the little way to sainthood. This video reminded me of her once more. Thank you so much for this inspiring video.
St. Catherine of Siena by Sigrid Undset (winner of Nobel Prize in Literature)
God bless you Heather 🌹I'll go to church every day in this lent.

Being closer to God. Going to mass even daily mass. Say the rosary reading your catholic bible.

Very helpful! Could you please do a video talking about temptation during lent?
2020, for me, was the best Lent ever...the whole pandemic that shook us and bonded us (during that time) was the unexpected best. Interested to see how 2021 will turn out!

Sacrifice.... that's definitely a big one I've been feeling a push towards. Offering in every moment some sort of sacrifice of self in love for God.❤️

Thanks for sharing. 💗🙂
We are looking forward to the return of homemade pretzels here during Lent... so I guess my word will have to be moderation :)

Come Holy Ghost please Come and help me have the Best Lent ever. Our Lady of Good Success please pray for Us All 🙏
Viva Cristo Rey 💪🙏
Hi Heather...thank you for helping us tp prepare for the beautiful season of Lent. I think my word will be Discipline. I really need to exercise discipline in several areas of my life....this will be difficult for me to “reign in” so I will need to really rely on grace from God.
P.S. where did you get your wooden pallet wall plaques of Jesus and Mary that were in your last video?
That is a great word to work on this lent! You can find those pictures here www.amazon.com/shop/acatholicmomslife
apart from the beautiful message you shared in this video, a call to sainthood...i just want to say that you have beautiful icons in your home! ❤
like a little church 😍

Hi! Could you explain to me what the novena candles are made for and why there are different colors ? I am new to the faith :) thanks!
I am going to do the 40 day activated disciple challenge by ascension press. I don't know how it will go. I feel like I am just kinda going the motions lately so I am hoping this pulls me out of that.
Favorite saints? St Padre Pio is one. ☺
mine too!!! i ask him to pray for me in my worry.

Beautiful ideas
I have BIG plans for this lent. I want to do a no spend 40 where I don't spend anything on anything unnecessary, not eating out, I have a 40 day prayers (a different prayer a day) some movies I want to watch (pinocchio, narnia, the chosen, light and sound jesus play) obviously reading the gospels and I really want to fast Wednesday, like no food what's so ever.
I was waiting for this video 😍😍😍😍
I was the same way Valetina!
You are such a sweetie!😊
Are you going to do a 2021 altar
Ash Wednesday!!
We couldn't go to church Palm Sunday holy week and Easter 2020.

Do you have any advice for lent during pregnancy?
How do you fast? Like in which tradition are you in or what traditions do you follow?
There are lots of ways to fast! Maybe go fully vegan, or intermittent fasting, etc.
All Saints went through a conversion when they became self-aware.
Great video!
This lent, my word is patience
Can I go to confession if I'm not Catholic ?
I think you can go for Counciling to the Priest not confession 🤔🤔 ua-cam.com/video/MVl9idMzvWs/v-deo.html Rosary with fr Pillari

My word is Aesthetic
Maria valtorta is a great audio book. Called The poem of man-God. Look up on you tube .seemly she had visions .
I read her book 25 years ago and loved it.
Do you fast when you are breastfeeding?
I want sacrifice to be my word this 2021 lent.
I so wish I could make SACRIFICE as mine but I think I would sabotage it so I am thinking of doing my word as SURRENDER or TRUST.
