    💬 Quotes on Food Insecurity:
“If you're a poor country, your currencies depreciate. You have high debt and if you happen to import your food, your fuel and your fertiliser, you're in trouble.”
"The same that countries also gave $29 billion to help refugees and asylum seekers coming to their countries. That comes to about $4,800 per person per year. That is 46 times more than if they were assisted in their own countries. This is really important because most of the people we are talking about, they don't want to leave their homes. They leave homes because they have no choice."

It frustrates me so much that the conversation in Europe was to help refugees at the expense of those who stay in their home countries. Very little attention was paid to foreign aid in the media, all the focus was on refugees.
Here in Sweden at one point there was just one party that argued for this. And their suggested international aid increase was pitiful. They didn't appear honest at all with their suggestion. And to some extent their reputation made copying that policy harder. They made that argument to keep the foreigners out, not out of compassion.
It's all really tragic and had people had a better perspective on the situation, like this video could have given them, maybe things would be better now.
