20 year master plumber here. Great DIY/ home owner job. Drain line has a bit to much slope but it will be fine👍
What's the disadvantage of having too much slope?
@@ryanbeckett536 leaves the waste behind causing build up in the drain. The water needs to carry the waste out of the drain with 1/4” per foot
@@timlaureano6160 Thank you!
way too much
@@timlaureano6160 Correct, the water will run down faster than the waste, leaving the waste behind to possibly dry, lump up and clog the pipe.
He really lives up to the name! This man be out here BUILDING!!!

This is what we're here for. Clear video and explanation, difficult job but not too much and no clickbait nonsense. Well done!
Just by me looking at your videos, makes me feel good that I can do renovations in my home. Thanks a Million 👍🏽
Amazing how you aren’t afraid to jump into different stuff like this and manage to do it like a professional. Absolutely love the series!
Thanks so much!
This process is so cool to watch. I'm learning so much from watching your videos, and one day I hope to do them when I build my own home.
Love watching the Reno and your channel? So informational. Can’t wait to se your next projects!!!! Love your channel!!!!!
Thanks so much!!
Restoration company’s watching this, heart rate going up....
I'm really excited to see the kitchen come together.
good job kara woooth
Nice work m'man! So cool seeing this kitchen slowly coming together. I also really like how you're filming the steps/videos. You're making it clear that this isn't a quick 'weekend project', this crap takes a good amount of time, but if you keep at it and put in some work, it can be done! Keep the vids coming A.M.!
Yes. been waiting for this
This one was great! So many really good tips and comments in this episode!
Glad you think so!
Love the confidence. These videos made me comfortable to remodel a room in my house and it came out great
I'm so glad!
Great video... I cut into my parents slab to run a sink drain. These saws are amazing.
Coming along! So exciting!
"Don't be gross." Can't wait to see the finished result!! Looks great so far!!
You were smart to rent the big tools for that concrete cutting! Great job...can't wait to see what's next!
Nice to see you back to doing informative content without dramatisation! Good work
tip on the plumbing, put the cleanout plug above the combo for easier service of drain cleaning. with it being below youd have to suck out or drain out that entire horizontal branch from the sink to below the cleanout cap. next time put your combo below the cleanout
If you use emt in wet locations you should used the rain tight compression connectors. PVC probably would have been better
Love the shirt! I got mine too and will be showing it off in my next video, coming out soon!
cannot wait to see this house come along 💗💗
first name too much hard to say

AAV valve is what we used in our kitchen remodel with the sink in the island, trust me it works!
Very interested to see how the AAV works in the kitchen! I’ve heard from friends who’ve installed them that they wear down and smell dank after a few years. Smart idea to build the access door!
It’s plumbing code for any AAV valve to accessible
finally, been waiting!!!!!!!!
Speedy Delivery just what I needed.
another great vid, dude! Thanks!
Love it. Now its a good friday!!!
Enjoy!
Nice work man!
You made that plumbing look so easy! Never seen those crimp connectors (UK). Seems a lot easier than push fit or copper!
Don’t use those fittings. Also don’t follow him on any plumbing. Always hire a professional that is a journeyman. This to protect you and the system.
I'll be that guy. But if it gets one person to do it... Wear a respirator when sawing concrete. Inhaling that shit is no joke. And throw up some plastic to keep the dust from going all over. It goes EVERYWHERE. Just did my post tension slab to run from current micro spot to the island. Dust made its way upstairs and all the way down a hall 35 feet to the front of the house. Even used .4 poly to section off but the dust just lingers forever.
👆 this though… ALLLLLL OF THIS! 👆 😷
Disappointing considering he was a Resp Therapist before going to UA-cam so he knows better.
i really like your energy keep it up man
That one way valve is a lifesaver! I thought you were going to have to cut another channel in the concrete for that. Well done and thanks for the tips!
I was thinking the same thing, I was wondering the whole time, "Why is the channel so narrow". That alone is worth watching this episode. Have a good one Charles!
Thanks 👍
another great video well done 👍
Super helpful thank you!
Great video.
This dude is flat out dope. Wish I knew as much as this dude. Man goals haha
Appreciate that
To see how well and much your content is growing compared to where you started just shows how much better your videos are the content was always good but just seems lately its more polished , sending all the best to all of you and your new addition all the way from Wales UK
I appreciate that!
i love it
Looking good!
Thanks!
You can put string through the conduit to make pulling the cable through a lot easier, especially as there's a vertical bit to the run too.
ur a good dads
make a shirt that says “we are not trained professionals, we’re just not afraid to try and fail”
no
“Not a professional just not afraid to try”
Would probably look better to make one that says "Professional" with "Not a" in much smaller text...would be cleaner
haha u fail
very cool
I wish I had all your knowledge and skills. Awesome work!
If you belive on yourself enough, one day, you will
@@diogor420 You're right. Thanks!
he’s got no knowledge relax 😂
Great video. Always informative! I just can't beleive you don't tarp things off with all the dust that saw creates lol
Me neither
It's very interesting to see how different building standards are over the world. I've never seen a vent pipe in my life here in Sweden:)
Thanks for watching!
Well you didn't look very hard. Plumbing needs venting
Looks good. The only thing I wouldn't do is glue the trap onto the ABS waste line. Instead I would dry fit a small piece of ABS pipe with a rough in cap on it. The trap itself would not be installed until the cabinet is installed. This allows for clean hole cut in the cabinet back board.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great job as usual, Stay safe & Healthy... Abrazos
Love your videos! Ironically I have two boys named Kyle and Tyler! We are building a house in Texas. I’d hire you if you were closer! My favorite remodel so far is the master bedroom. Love the beams! Seriously, you and your wife should be hosts in HGTV!
I've been doing this for weeks now renovating a house. Almost every house were I live have concrete floors.
that silica dust is now floating everywhere in your new home, nice job with the PPE as well
go home nancy you’re drunk
Boomer alert
Pot fillers are fantastic!! If you have the opportunity to put one in, do it. Just make sure the shut off valve is where you can access it... just in case your grand kid thinks its something to "hang" off of. :/
Oh No Rose, don't scare me like that! I have two little rugrats with more to follow, haha! :D
@@woodworksbygrampies1284 Sorry. Hopefully your grandbabies will know better. :) Guess it only looks like "gym equipment" when the stove is out of the way. :P
@@RoseGreen haha! :D Have a good one Rose.
I love this series so much. It's like This Old House but without old boring dudes.
Instead its a couple old exciting dudes! ;)
@@Jordan-kk5xj Nah, Alex is maybe 30. I like Tommy Silva but dude is 74 years old. In the last 5 years his mental acuity has taken a huge hit. He talks really slow and comes off like he thinks everyone is an idiot the way he explains things. But Tommy is about the nicest dude you will ever meet. He really just needs to hand the reigns of This Old House over to someone else at this point. All those guys do. They need to take a cue from Roger and retire. They're really dragging the show down at this point and it's getting hard to watch.
YT Channels like Mr. Build It are interesting and fun to watch. They're also informative and are shot extremely well. The camera work on this channel is top-notch.
@@plasmac9 I'm just having fun mate. Mr build it is awesome
Awesome video!!! I wish my projects went this easy!! Good luck the rest of the way. Would it have been a good idea to weigh the framing down to have consistent contact with the adhesive or do you believe it's not that big a difference??
What are your go to sites to learn all this stuff? Specific UA-cam channels? Etc? Love watching these videos!!
I'm sure that wharever you are looking for is available on SquareSpace™.
(Note: This comment wasn't brought to you by SquareSpace™)
No UA-cam channel can teach you local plumbing and electrical ordinances. Find your gov building department site in your neighborhood/city/suburb and learn the local requirements. 📕 The rest is practice, practice, practice.
Belle prestation👍*
His voice and energy level remind me of Chris Pratt. Lol, love the channel!!!
Hii!!! Lol love your channel.
Hey, thanks!
Why are u people hating on the man? If you don't like his channel or content go watch something else but u watch every video and go to the comment section and start talking shit lol do u have nothing better to do or are u just jealous when u see a man being successful and getting shit done. Instead of wasting so much time hating on others put that time in to make yourself successful. Much respect 🙏 to all the hard workers out there.
Wow! Was there any thoughts about protecting the surrounding area of the home or furniture before using a wet concrete saw or jackhammer
Shouldn't you use a treated bottom plate on that pony wall since it's on a concrete slab?
Love this series!
What is the make/model of the thermal camera you are using? Would you recommend it?
Awesome Vid! During your sponser shout out, what is the is that a special peg board organizer that all of your Ryobi power tools sit on?
I assume some projects require permits. Could you explain the process of what requires a permit, what doesn't require a permit, and the steps when it does require a permit?
Was the drain plumbing already set in place before you began this project? I will be tackling the same exact job in my house here pretty soon and was curious to know how you located the drain plumbing under the existing slab. I was thinking of using a thermal probe and just dumping a considerable amount of boiling water down the existing wall sink.
I was just curious how you were going to secure drywall to the studs along the wall with the pot filler since you are not able to screw into those metal plates? Are you going to cut away a little more drywall underneath and secure a slightly larger piece of drywall underneath those plates since there are water lines and electrical?
you will hang a larger piece and just put your screws around the strike plates you only need a screw every 8 inches
Do you think he accounted for a countertop when he measured for the pot filler?
Can u say snorkle fan? Thats your friend...simple job...I do it all day
🔥🔥🔥🔥

For your subbers, most wire that goes through the slab for code has to be water resistant UF or thwn, and the nitpicker in me could help but notice the hot water on the right instead of left
Not trying to hate, I enjoy your content
You did that with ease! How much would you charge for a smalled job. Cut the slab and extend the sink plumbing 5 ft and then recover? 3600 estimate I got seemed sketch!
"Anyone want some cotton candy? ...shouldn't have done that."
Question was the red pex on the right hand side? And cold or right on the new island portion? Or am I tripping. Reason asking is cause in Texas is hot is always left and cold is always right?
How many days of work was this, including researching, sourcing materials and installation?
YOU GAVE LIKE YOUR WHOLE HOUSE A MAKEOVER XD
I bought a brand new electric concrete saw and electric jam hammer, brand new for less than your rental charge
And I thought USA prices for tools were less than uk
My OCD was kicking in there when he would cut a plumbing line a few inches from an existing splice! (See 15:27) I'd probably have cut the splice out to eliminate one more failure point. I'm sure it will be fine though anyhow!
i like how you can skip first 3 minute of the video so you see the progress
Love the work, do you have any 1" lines? Pretty sure its impossible to crimp by hand...failed today
it’s not impossible. why are you touching 1” waterlines for? call a plumber
is the emt conduit suitable for underground?
Great job and clever idea to use the thermal camera to see the right place for the channel to cut... But $260 for 4 hours rental of a consaw and a jack hammer? Dude! Just for comparison, here in Ireland a consaw is $45 for 24 hour rental and a jack hammer about $50.
Your rental places prices are on the high side I'd say.
Did you cross the water lines??? Left Hot and Right Cold...I noticed blue pex on the furthest run?
Yup! I was hoping someone would catch that. But you could always cross the water supply lines
👍🏻👍🏻
Great video and thank you. Is the purpose of the water for cooling the cutting blade or for controling the dust created. I note you did not wear a mask and presumably the reason was that there was no dust.
Also there is a third W when you go to that sponsored website
You sure you used abs glue? I have only ever seen yelllow and black
Did you glue that p trap in place 😬 that seems dicey
Your a freakin DIY genius. You've inspired me put in a pot filler in my kitchen too. What's a pot filler?
ur last name should be swimmer
Hi! I’m thinking of doing the same thing. How much is this project going to cost me if i hired some?
The AAV valve has to be 4 inches above THE RIM OF THE SINK not the drain line.
Alex, did you get permits to do this? did you hire someone to help with permits?
Permits outside of a city??? Unheard of if it isn’t structural. 😂
he doesn’t pull permits or he’s fail
@@kylephillips8732 dont you need permits to do anything plumbing or electrical that changes the layout and stuff? Genuinely curious
I need this same exact thing done, Are You in Louisiana?
Can anyone explain to me when you would need a permit to do stuff like this? for instance I want to knock down a half wall that separates my kitchen from my living room. would I need a permit to do that? I also want to remodel my master bath... tile the shower and move the shower head location to be a waterfall from the ceiling. I don't think I'd need a permit to tile the shower but would I need one to change the shower head plumbing location?
he doesn’t get permits it’s all hack job
Cleanouts go above highest tie-in.
Galvanized emt(electrical metallic conduit)with set screw couplings was the wrong choice please use pvc next time. Emt in direct contact with earth has a limited shelf life. Eventually that conduit will rust and collapse. Not to mention direct burial for emt is not listed in the NEC code. Also set screw couplings are not water tight (also are not listed for direct burial). Water will eventually seep into the pipe and deteriorate the wire and the wire will fail and could cause a hazard for safety.
Lol that's what I just said I walked in and my wife was watching the video, and I said is that guy putting emt in the ground, surely that's rigid, and then I saw the couplings and I laughed? That's a no no, unless they came out with a new style of set screw rigid couplings and u threaded 90s, it's definitely emt not rmc.
did you have to pull permits for this work? im assuming. great video
nope he didn’t pull no permits he’s a hack
@11:41: That AAV needs to be above the overflow level of the sink, not just above the horizontal drain.
he’s moronic doesn’t know anything
Trying to figure out why you didn’t asphyxiate with that gas saw running indoors! I understand the temptation to do it, I haven’t seen electric electric saw that even comes close to the speed. Safety aside, you have no dust control and spreading exhaust fumes all over your customers furniture. Not sure how that’s ever going to get out of the house.
Also seems like you had to cut through some rebar in that process that you did not repair. Good thing it wasn’t a post tension slab
Why there is an went tube for the sink?????
MY QUESTION IS LIKE WHERE DO YOU GUYS EAT
