Both Tariq and nomas parents tried to hide what they really did in the streets, and thought their kids would never find out.

Your idea of Tariq going to jail i think so , because to me Tariq is version of Kanan and Ghost . So maybe Tariq going to jail is a nod.
Another thing is, because the series is ending, a lot of the series really seems rushed now! Characters like Saleem are characters out of sorts... no true purpose for the storyline, but seemingly just another Tariq body.
