Can you guys stop coming at Christine with the whole organic vs store bought version of these smoothies?!? She never said she was making an exact REPLICA of DH. She said you can make it at home for less. And she proved that you can. For all you organic lovers, use Christine's code below for $25 off your first order, and move on. Christine's channel is about saving money, and being able to feed your family at a lower cost. Coming at her in these comments is unfair and unnecessary.

Well I think the point is a price comparison, so if lesser quality ingredients are being used, of course it's going to be cheaper. Not an apples to apples comparison. It would have been easier to compare is it worth it price difference if she used organic ingredients also.

There are other items where you need to read the directions to get optimum results. It took me a while to discover all the differences in preparation for different items. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy (and money) to create this video. I literally was debating about this (again) and once again understand that doing it myself is much more cost effective. I have to say, my "a-ha" moment was watching as you put the ingredients in those plastic containers. I typically hold on to those when getting take out and use them for when I have company taking food home. But now I'll use them to put my ingredients in and basically just do what Daily Harvest done. Amazing how something so seemingly simple did not occur to me before (insert shrugging shoulder emoji). Any-who, this will save me time and now I can do this in addition to preparing multiple smoothies. Thanks, again and Happy New Year! :)

ok, so, I priced frozen organic fruits at whole foods . Take the mango, pineapple, macadamia etc smoothie. Daily harvest has this smoothie at 213 grams or a bit less than 8 oz. from the pictures and ingredient list on daily harvest, looks like it is about 4/5 fruit, a little bit of cherry (acerola) and 5-6 macadamia nuts (only non-organic). so, 4/5 of 213 gms is 170 gms or 6 oz. so, 2 oz of each. organic mango is $0.22. they only had fresh or canned organic pineapple. I choose fresh, since you all like that. I even choose the already cut up stuff which is $7.49 lb. 16oz to a pound, so $0.47 per oz. all they had for organic papaya was in a frozen blend, so you will have to pick out the papaya. since papaya is the first ingredient, that means it is the largest amount in the bag or equal of all. that bag is $0.45 per oz. I had to hit up Trader Joes for the organic Acerola puree, which is $3.49 for 14 oz. so $0.25 per oz. so far, the cheapest. must not taste good or they would have used more. or maybe it is hard to get. so macadamia nuts. they use regular, but lets see what I can find. ah, whole foods has them. they only have raw nuts in organic form, so you will have to roast them at home, but that is simple enough. these come out to $2.17 per oz. ouch. but, there aren't that many in there so there is that. looking at the container, there appears to be about 50 nuts in 6 oz if not more. so, let's say 5 nuts or 1/10 an ounce. that is $ 0.22 of nuts. now, what does that all mean. mango is $.44. pineapple is $.94, papaya is $.90, cherries is $.50 and nuts are $.22. that is $3 per smoothie at home vs $7.99 from daily harvest. and the only extra work you have to do is to roast some nuts. I didn't add milk cost because even with daily harvest you must provide your own milk. Now, if you wanted to get your cost much lower, you could just go buy the mango, pineapple and papaya fresh and organic, which all cost about half of what it was buying already cut up or frozen and get that smoothie down to $2 at home at least. I didn't even price cups because obviously if you care enough to only buy organic, you are not going to use disposable cups! You are just going to use that one you wash everyday. So, $7.99 vs $3 or even $2. oh, and I guarantee that my recipe version contains more product than what theirs does. also, this is in no way pointed at the original poster who just made a valid point in a nice manner. just answering the burning question of others.

I love this. I am new to your channel. I am a mom of 6 and could never spend the money buying at that cost but love the frugality of making the same for a decent price. Also at home you can customize it for allergies or taste. Love your channel. Thank you.

Thank you for doing this. I am struggling after putting on 40 of the 60 pounds I lost. I was telling hubs that I am wanting to do plant based for a couple of weeks to see if it helps me. I can't wait to try these

Great video, I make smoothie bags and store them in the freezer for my daughters breakfast. I'm going to try the different types and see if she likes them.

I love this video, I am a smoothie fan especially on the go for work and school. I laughed so hard when the blending process was happening. Especially Dave's price tag shock, LOL. I love your videos and your meal prep videos, even bought my first chest freezer in your honor!!!

Love this! Money saving queen at it again. I think the daily harvest want you to fill up the cup it comes in as a “cup” of liquid. So that could be why it’s thicker.

You can also just buy frozen fruit medleys from the dollar store then add 2 cups of milk. Each frozen fruit bag makes 2 smoothies. So thats 0.50 cents a smoothie. At least thats what I do, because im efficient (lazy). xD Also, love the counter tops. Definitely makes everything brighter.

This was such a great video!! One of my favorites, I think. I also have an allergy to bananas, so if you ever felt like doing a video exploring the best banana substitutes in smoothies, I would greatly appreciate that (specifically one that will thicken, add some extra nutrients, and sweetness to the recipe). With the Daily Harvest smoothies, I took the instructions to mean that you fill up the cup that the ingredients came in, with liquid. So maybe that is where the discrepancy is with the thickness? The boys were all great taste-testers; it's so cool to see how into your videos your family is! Cheers!

A lot of the smaller smoothie blender blades will fit exactly into a Mason jar's mouth, so you could put everything for the smoothies into those and blend directly, then there's no extra cup or anything to deal with cleanup. Looks great!

Frozen zucchini thickens up a smoothie so nicely, a great alternative to banana for the same texture
