    A thumb in the eye stops the movement of the tuna,. Pull a gill and let it bleed out if you want good meat. Cover the bleed tub, box or whatever with a lid, or burlap sack to keep the blood from going everywhere. Let them bleed in water for the best cooling effect prior to placing in ice.

    I'm looking for a guided trip out of Bandon in August, any recommendations on who does it this way as opposed to strictly trolling?

    Great vid. Why leave the extra rods in the way by the bait tank?

      typically on boats in mexico or so cal you have a kill bag for the catch but that is very similar. later in the video when he transfers the fish he is transferring them to the kill bag.

    I want to order your belts with knives and what kind of rods and reels are you using. This is a great video. we fish out of brookings and most of the time go out of charleston. We had a great run last year out of brookings but we have never stopped and done this. I got about 1000 herring in the freezer and plan on cutting them up and using them as chum any advise on that. I am getting excited a little early in the season haha

    Especially on a boat this size you need to get rid of that net and go to a 4 to 6 foot gaff the net is a pain in the A--

    • @richardryan3285
      @richardryan3285 4 роки тому

      The reason you use a net is it's easier then a gaff, and it keeps you from putting a hole through the meat.

      For better table fair a net is the best bet.

      longer the fish fights hot there core temp gets the lower the quality of meat

      Tunas can actually “cook” themselves when they swim too hard, or when they move out of the water

      That’s why troll fish taste so much better. If you have a good troll crew you can catch them just as much on some years late season depending on what they are feeding on out there. Hand lines are awesome and jack poling is even better. Live bait is the ultimate!
