  • Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, commonly known as Saigon is the largest city of the country. Saigon was the former capital of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). Today Saigon has a population of around 9 million (2019).
We start our walk of HCMC in the District 1 where most tourists stay during their visit. The Bui Vien walking street is open for motor vehicles during the day. We walk most around Bui Vien which comes to live mostly during nighttime with clubs and bars. ( • SAIGON, Vietnam 🇻🇳 - B... )
Our tour gets to the city center, passing the War Remnants Museum and later even get to the the Independence Palace. We see the modern city center as rain starts. After 2 hours we return to our starting place having seen much of Saigon on this afternoon to evening tour.

Personally, I like Hanoi more. It has its own beauty. Driving a car and looking at it is very modern

There are a few Hanoi walks on the channel ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=poptravel+hanoi
More are coming.. Overall though the cities in Vietnam are not made for walking. It makes sense to take a scooter or car as the cities centers are rather large. A place for relaxed walking was Hoi An for me

    Where is district 7

District 7 is south if the route I walked. More residential there. Map starts at 8:40

@@poptravelorg Nope, this is District 1, not 7, the 7 has Phu My Hung Urban, and District 2 has Sala city and New Metropole River Thủ Thiêm

I see. Do you have recommendations for a route there in District 7? Which places should I visit? It was my 2nd time in HCMC so I went around places I remembered from my first visit in 2010. After these 2h walks I kinda want shorter rounds next time, but I though 😎 Another similar tour that I published earlier - so over 3 1/2h total.. ua-cam.com/video/6hV92yEyGlI/v-deo.html

@@poptravelorg Of course, you can walk in Empire City Thủ Thiêm ( district 2, or its Thu Thiem - Thủ Đức city now ), they will plan 88-storey tower there in 2027. And Sala city ( district 2, and a Thu Thiem too ), New Metropole River Thủ Thiêm ( Thu Thiêm but near district 1 ), Thảo Điền walking street ( district 2, its for foreigners ! ) , Van Phuc City ( Thủ Đức ). For district 7, theres Phu My Hung Urban ( district 7- connect to Nhà Bè district, district 7 is hub for international education, with Crescent Lake Bán Nguyệt Walking street and Crescent Shopping mall). If you want to walk in shopping, go Estella Place district 2, Giga mall in district 9-Thủ Đức , Van hanh mall district 10, Lotte Mall district 7, SC Vivo district 7, China town in district 5 and 6 and 11, Christian neighborhoods in district 8, Landmark Urban 81storey tower in Bình Thạnh district, and many many shopping places in the future. You can try to expolore district 3, 4, 12, Phú Nhuận, Bình Chánh, Bình Tân, Tân Bình, Tân Phú, Hóc Môn, Củ Chi ( still wild, but will have some future project there ), Gò Vấp ...., some those places are quite far away and I don't know what's interesting there, maybe temples and churches.

Thank you! I'll revisit your suggestions when I happen to get to Vietnam again. Just a few months ago there was an incredible deal for a flight yet I only didn't go because I was there a year ago - fresh memories... Still a nice country to visit and so much to see. Thank you for the detailed suggestions

There is too much dirt and garbage. I do not like it. I'm moving to Japan ...

Maybe try Nha Trang in Vietnam as well. It seemed more chilled and a pretty good place to live for a while. Danang was also pretty good. At least currently Vietnam is way more affordable than Japan...
