It’s still useful! Logic reminds me of hidden rooms and tunnels to explore. “Look, behind the wine cellar. There’s a MIDI Step Input Keyboard just below the Pinot Noir! Let’s try it out.” Gianni❤
Thanks, Josh. I didn‘t know 85 % of this Logic content. No idea what e. g. those midi icons in red and green meant. Again, my knowledge in Logic increased. I’m sure I‘m going to watch every single of your #-videos (and others as well) which I did from the beginning so far! 👍🏻💪🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
Hey Josh, regarding pitch & velocity input mode while in the Piano Roll: As it turns out, with MIDI In disabled, you can go to the pitch & velocity mode directly by Option-clicking on the icon. Then, when you do Option-i it goes back to MIDI input, and Option-i again disables it. *Lastly, unless you've changed the default key command on your end, it's Option-O to toggle MIDI Out, and Option-i to toggle MIDI in. Again, fantastic vid, crystal clear explanation with real world examples. Love it.
You're awesome man. I love that you've been doing these great Logic videos on UA-cam for so long and they're all well done, right to the point and accurate. I'm a long time MacProVideo subscriber and your more in depth tutorials on that platform are great too. Your trajectory is not unlike SFLogicNinja aka David Earl...UA-cam > MPV > (you know what he's doing now, right? 😉). All the best!
Thanks this will be quite useful. Is there a way to edit using the step input keyboard function? For example select a note or group of note and change their time value with the input key board?
In my latest version of Logic Pro (11.0.1) MIDI Input is OPTION+I (and not Command I as you say in your video) ... this may have changed with Version 11 ... in any case ... great tip !
Hey Josh, do you know if Logic has shortcut keys for selecting rhythmic values? I think I've been spoiled by the keypad in Sibelius and I'm curious if Logic has a similar solution. Thanks!
Hey, Logic users! I’m still hesitant to upgrade my Logic to current version because I worry about its stability (mine is 10.4.6). I have a bunch of projects in work and just fearing that something won’t function correctly. What’s your experience? Which one is the most stable version? I’d appreciate your feedback. I’m on MacBook Pro 2015.
@artbass However exciting the new features of Logic might be, I wouldn't touch anything while you have active projects going, it's not worth risking it and affecting the outcome and maybe your income... But when you're between projects: 1. Back up your computer, and especially your Logic folder to a reliable drive - or even two drives. Time Machine, ChronoSync, Carbon Copy Cloner, whatever app you normally use for this - or all three! 2. Check with the plugin manufacturers you're using to make sure they are compatible with later version of macOS (by this point, they all should be...) 3. Logic Pro 10.7.7 has been super stable for me. If your computer is able to run it, an you have a full backup, I think you're good to go. And there's a ton of cool stuff to discover, as you see here in this series from Josh. Good luck, man.
Now is there a way to select all of it an humanize the quantization? So that it offsets each input slightly? Otherwise it's going to sound robotic as hell.

Nice one Josh, I had completely forgotten about this? So a big big thanks for showing us this really useful facility
cool channel!

whats the alchemy preset you used at 9:40?? I can't find it but sounds so nice

2:49 is where you turn on Step Input (in case you sneezed and missed it)

@@jfbmusic thank you! Got it
2:44 turn on step input. Option I, not Command.

Yep! in the piano roll, functions>midi transform>humanize
@@zhexum eventually found it! But thanks, will help others.
This is much easier if you use key commands to set the note durations.
What instrument are you using for the bass in this tutorial? 🤔
He used the ES2 (Synthesizer 2) "Classic Synth Bass"
@@eti313 thank you
