- Mckillops Bridge, check it out if you are heading that for your holidays.
McKillops Bridge spans 255 metres over the Snowy River in the Victorian High Country.
The engineering thats gone into building this massive bridge is incredible for its era.
Mckillops Bridge has a lot of interesting history surrounding the bridge that was built back in 1934.
It is a very popular 4wd holiday destination due to the amazing camping spots near the bridge and overlooking the Snowy River.
If you are heading that way for a few days, it's well worth having a good look at the bridge and take in the history of the bridge that has been built twice, after the first bridge was washed away due to massive floods.
That whole area is amazing. I have family that still take cattle across there.
It is so nice down that way.
Far out, that’s very interesting that you have family still taking cattle across.
The crossing has a very long history for being used as a cattle crossing.
Thanks for your reply.
Cheers Tim.
Hi mate, We spotted you on the Snowy Mountain hwy this morning towing your trailer. We were coming out of Denison Hut turn off. We were in a blue 80 with RTT. You pulled over to let us pass. 👍👍👍
Ahh Gday mate.
I did see you guys.
It’s just started raining here.
Hope you stay dry mate.
Cheers Tim
Where did you end up camping? We stayed on the Eucumbene River down the back of Sawyers Hut. Very pretty but no shade and flies from hell!!!
@@nudibanches I’m in Denisons. That’s why I pulled over. I missed the turn off. lol.
Nice short video mate. It's one for the list of places to visit. Cheers
Thanks mate.
It’s definitely one for the places to check out.
Great spot on the Snowy River
Cheers Tim
I didn't know that mate. So thanks heaps buddy., very interesting indeed. 1 hell of a water rush that would have been.
Gday mate
No worries at all.
I’m glad you found the video helpful.
Ohh yeah, it would have been something to see that whole valley with the Snowy River roaring down stream.
Thanks mate for your feedback
Cheers Tim
I was just there yesterday. Made a special detour to check it out on my way across from Wulgumerang to limestone creek.
Ahh, very nice mate.
Greet time of year to get away before the Christmas holiday rush.
Did you see many other people out as well?
Cheers Tim.
Exactly what i was thinking mate, get away for a few days before the rush. There was bugger all, I went from Nunniong, down through Timbarra area and up to limestone and only saw maybe a handful of people camped up.
@@damo.77 yeah that’s wicked mate.
Great timing for sure.
Travelling down to the Victorian High Country in March and we are doing a trek through the Alpine first, then heading to Snowy River National Park. Will you have more video footage of this area being released anytime soon? We love watching your videos, so informative 👍
Gday mate
I have a solo video on my channel which covers the Snowy River near the bridge where I camped.
Great spot with amazing views over the river and very close to the river.
Check out that video mate, it will give you some ideas for sure.
You have a great trip when you come down in March.
Thanks for your feedback
Cheers Tim.
Very interesting
Thanks mate.
It’s a great spot to visit.
Cheers Tim
Hey when are you going to do more videos I have watched all of them and they are great and I'm hanging out for me. You do and awesome job and love your work
Gday mate
Now Christmas and new years is over. I’ll get some new videos going to get 2024 rolling.
Thanks a lot mate, I greatly appreciate your feedback
Cheers Tim.
Also I love the cooking ones as well so don't be shy on them as give me good ideas on how to do things.
@@jamietaylor9856 thanks mate.
I do enjoy cooking on the campfire. The best way to make a tasty meal
Never been there Tim but i certainly will..
Gday mate
If you can find the time, it’s worth going down and staying a few days.
Cheers Tim
@@timbates4wdadventures Absolutely Tim, more than a few days lot's to explore.
@@johndelaney2957 yeah mate. Heaps to see down that way.
I was there about 5 weeks ago, I have been there many times in 4x4, car, adventure bike and just love the hole country through all that area, currently heading back from QLD now going through NSW and in a week we will be back in the Victorian High Country, Victoria is the best place to still get 1,000's of free camping spots, most of the other states are just closing down bush tracks and camp spots everywhere 😞
Gday mate
Have a great trip as you head further South.
There’s endless free camping spots in the high country.
Safe travels mate.
Cheers Tim
Happy New year
Thanks mate.
Hope you have a great year.
Cheers Tim
If I ever visit Australia, I'll go to that bridge and take some pictures with a camera that uses 35mm film. The reason for using a film camera is that you can't beat the way the developed pictures evoke the feeling of being there. Digital photos are great, but they lack the soul that film pictures have. I don't know how to explain it, but you CAN tell the difference.
Gday mate,
Hopefully you'll get down here some day and check out the bridge, it is well worth having a look.
I have heard that about film Vs digital photos.
Cheers Tim
@@timbates4wdadventures I hope I get down there within the next 10 years, but there's no telling at this point in time. Stay safe, Tim.
@@ColtonRMagby No worries at all mate.
You take care.
@@timbates4wdadventures Will do.
@@ColtonRMagby cheers mate.
Geez haven’t been back there for a while. We’ve camped there a couple of times doing the Deddick fire trail. The old bridge at Dalgety way upstream from there is a gem also
Gday mate
I’ve not camped at the old bridge you mentioned.
Just googled that spot up mate.
Looks amazing.
It’s such great country out that way.
Cheers Tim.
@@timbates4wdadventures it sure is! We crossed paths along the Caledonia River track a number of years ago! We were travelling with the 4wdaction crew from Walhalla to Dargo over 5 days. Brenno was leading the pack
@@davenmoo ahh righto.
I remember that trip.
Great ol days with the Action crew.
@@timbates4wdadventures still stay in touch with Rob the photographer
@@davenmoo not sure I know Rob.
But, I’m still in touch with the dvd action crew I spent many years with. Great bunch.
That’s one beautiful bridge alright. 👍🍺
It is.
Great area to check out.
Cheers Tim
Excellent video mate, very informative and well delivered cheers.
Thanks a lot mate.
I appreciate your feedback.
Cheers Tim
It's in such a pretty part of the world Tim. I Imagine recent flooding didn't get as high as the decking on the bridge, but it still would have been an awesome sight!
Yeah, down on that part of the Snowy River is stunning country.
There's been a number of big floods over the years, but nothing like it was back in 1934.
Cheers Tim
True!@@timbates4wdadventures

@@arloking616 sounds wicked mate. Greatly appreciate it.
I haven’t been there since the 60s wow that’s 60 years ago, just how I remember it too…..Tim is camping possible at the bridge, any flat area to get off the road and pitch a swag? We used to camp where you are now. How’s the trailer handling the travels, got it hooked up yet?
G'day mate,
It would have been amazing to have seen the bridge back in the 60s.
Its stunning area now, back then would have been next level.
You can camp before you cross the bridge from the side i went over. Big area.
Plus theres camping on the otherside down on the left.
Im taking the camper away after new years mate, im looking forward to it.
Cheers Tim
@@timbates4wdadventuresthanks Tim , seeing your video the bridge is the same as I remember it 60 years ago, cheers, thanks for the reply🇦🇺👍.happy travels, keen to pitch a tent and boil the Billy up that way again. Maybe after the silly season. Too busy. 😅🤣😂
