How I miss gathering with friends and playing tunes like this. I grew up near Hamilto Ontario, where the author of this song lived. It was written as a memorial for his bride, who lived but a year after their marriage. It has been my favorite song for years, but now, in my 70s, it resonates with a poignancy like never before.
Still listening to this song. Love it. The only problem with getting old is all your old friends and family are gone. The young ones have nothing in common with us old folks. Born 1939.
Just beautiful 🎶 💓 if your followers haven’t heard “Hard Times Come Again No More” sung and played by these two, it’s worth searching out. I can’t get enough of listening to it👍
This performance is worthy to have been played and sung at the Grand Ole Opry! The heart, the soul, the vocals and the love they show to play music is so amazing to me...I cannot play an instrument nor carry a note, however, that was music to my ears! Thank you for sharing, it was a little slice of heaven for me...
Boogity-thank you! You would have loved him as much as you love the videos. He really was the best! Thank you for the comment and so very glad you enjoy our music. If you want to see what the next generation is doing check out The Pressley Girls' channel. They even let us play with them sometimes : )
Ernest-thank you for watching. It's a great song. You might enjoy our website since the Smoky Mountains often comes up. You can find it at blindpigandtheacorn.com
Listening to this wonderful music this morning and remembering my friend Rob Mashburn who sang this song as well. In awe of the harmony.......................
I just keep finding more gems. You folks are an inspiration. it is good these were done for your own family to cherish. My dad used to sing and play guitar. I regret never recording him. He used to sing a song called: When God Comes and Gathers His Jewels. I wonder if you have heard the song? God bless and thanks for sharing your families gift.
+Jim P Thank you. Our Dad-the older man in the video passed away the day after you left this comment. We will miss him terribly but we will try to continue with the music.
I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. I enjoy all your songs so much because my dad used to sing them. Is there a way to buy a CD? Keep singing to keep his memory alive.
Clare-thank you for the kind words. You can buy cds from my website here: www.blindpigandtheacorn.com/blind_pig_the_acorn/pickin-grinnin-in-the-kitchen-music-from-the-blind-pig-gang.html and also from my Etsy Shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/BlindPigAndTheAcorn?ref=em§ion_id=16313762 We will continue to sing and we have plans to ensure his musical legacy continues. We'll keep you posted about them. And to find out more about our family you can read my blog here: www.blindpigandtheacorn.com Thanks again!!
Love all your music but keep returning to this song mostly. There's something about it, almost hauntingly beautiful. Just an observation..When Dad (Jerry who I share a first name with) and even your (Paul's) sons are playing they most often play with their hear down. Is there a reason for this, other than perhaps shyness? I like to think Jerry is singing with the angels now. Great voice.
Its a great old song that has such a longing mournfulness about it. The boys are actually our older brother Steve's kids. They were a little shy about their playing in those days : ) We like to think he is singing with them too! We so appreciate your support.
