Fair use is a legal doctrine that premotes freedom of expression by permitting the unlicensed use of copyright-protected works in certain circumstances. There are a lot of legends about Blackbeard, and a lot of them (and a lot of pirate lore in general) come from a book published a few years after Blackbeard died, called "A General History of the Pyrates", which is sometimes accurate and sometimes... not. I think that's where the thing about him lighting matches in his beard comes from. We don't really know much about what Blackbeard looked liked for sure though, because there were no photographs then and only "respectable" people tended to get portraits made of them. So far as I know, the only description of Blackbeard that survives from someone who actually saw him is an account by a "Captain Bostock" who's ship Blackbeard captured. He simply described Blackbeard as "a tall spare (thin) man with a very black beard which he wore very long". Age-wise, he was probably in his later 30s when he died (most pirates were young men, Blackbeard was probably an old timer by pirate standards).

@@quitethekylah2393 Apologies for this person's spoiler. You can't have known this because you haven't even gotten to the episode where that starts. There isn't a scene with a formal announcement of Jim's pronouns, so people jump the gun and tell reactors early.
