I love watching you & Sharmon shelling. Being stuck in Wisconsin it helps pass our colder months. I've been lucky enough to go shelling in Florida numerous times. The coolest thing I found was a Spotted Eagle Ray tooth.
Thx for casting me in the same boat as Sharmon that's a nice complement. I've been enjoying watching her channel too as of this year! I've wanted to start my channel for so long that I just couldn't watch "any" shelling channels till I got mine started LOL. Silly, but I just couldn't b/c it would be a sad reminder to me I still haven't started...anyways, thx so much for watching! Oh I've never heard of collecting a ray tooth! @@FloridaBeachWalks The ray tooth was a mystery to me until I discovered a professor at a university in Florida that helps identify things you find. I just sent him a picture of it & he sent back what it was. A guy on the beach where I found it thought it was a megladon tooth. I was happy to find out what it really was.

I have an article from a gentleman teasing apart the difference between the two species (ahem, one species) and I am glad I didn't have a chance to dive into that subject! I am pretty bummed they lost their common name but since they're my favorite, I'm not changing what I call them - LOL! You found some nice shells Roxann! Super jelly of that albino olive!

Awwww I’m so glad I found your channel, pure accident, and I wish I would have found it waaaaaay sooner because I have been to a couple Florida and Georgia beaches and have never seen such shells nor did I know I was right there with them and had no idea they existed! Darn it!! Well, maybe someday I’ll be able to make it back to the beach but the next time I’m specifically going shelling!!!! So, cool seeing the live ones as well!!

Hi Roxann, what an amazing day!! So many goodies all over the beach to destress with...though I do wonder how the place smelled 😅🤣 I shouldn't have asked!! So many lovely shells, though I really enjoyed seeing those huge live True Tulips 😲 incredible! Also, and I know it's a wedding shell, but that land snails was very eye catching 👀 I have a big soft spot for the terrestrial shells. The Junonias were not a rare shell on this day...they were almost common 😂! So many people had so much luck with them: I bet that made the day a special memory for them. I loved seeing all of the usual as well; those little bright orange horse conches were amazing too 🤩 Additionally, it's very interesting to learn that Strombus alatus has been reclassified at Strombus pugilist!?? Those conchologists are always shaking things up! Thank you so much for sharing 🐚🐚🐚
🤣 Weeeeelll it did smell a bit strong at points but all in all not actually that bad. I do have allergies and my sniffer is not too sensitive anymore 🤷🏽♀️😩🤣 Those live true tulips on the pen shells were so incredible to see!!! ❤️ Yeah, with all these storms the J’s are not so elusive anymore-but I didn’t find anything 🧐🤣 Yeah that scientific name change was surprising -but it’s such an iconic shell that I don’t seeing the common name Florida Fighting Conch ever really going away-it just can’t 🤣❤️🐚 Thx for watching! SO many J's found and large horse conch in the water. That Friday a lady and her daughter were out in the water and they found at least 10 HUGE empty ones...crazy! So many true tulips too. A lot of times when people get married (or have some special beach event) right there on the beach they use shells to decorate and often just leave those shells at the beach...they most likely just bought online or at a store--they are like Pacific shells or mixed shells from any part of the world. So they are not a species found in Florida waters. When a person finds those washed up shells on the beach it's called a wedding shell :-)
Not sure of the “current” conditions, I live 4hr away from Marco on the east coast of FL. Maybe if you check out some Facebook groups you can see others posted in this area maybe (that’s what I do). I’d think there will be shells when you go-not to the extent of what’s in this video but there are always shells at S. beach 🏖️ 🐚❤️ Hope you have a great time! Happy Shelling!!

We were staying at Crystal shores when Helene hit, have never seen anything like that before. We were back home (🇨🇦) when Milton came through. When I saw the video of all the pen shells on the beach it was really unreal. I feel for the people that were affected by the damage the storm did. But at the same time I wished we were still there to be able to go shelling 😊. Looking forward to one day returning to your beautiful beach again. Stay safe 🤗

Saving for projects, I give some away, display allllll over my house and I’m trying to get my act together and open an Etsy store soon. 🐚❤️
