I am running this car for last 6 months. Fantastic car it is. Zero complaints. Drove from vancouver to calgary. 150 kmph. Car is super stable on highways
I have been driving a 1RS for the past two weeks in the city and on the freeway. It has been a blast to drive! It was recently added to my brother's Turo fleet and he is letting my wife and I use it for an extended test drive since we want to purchase a new car soon. It is very peppy for a 1.2L turbo and it handles nicely too. The auto start/stop feature worked flawlessly and I noticed almost no turbo lag, unlike my VW Golf TDI. Some reviewers comment that it is underpowered yet they manage to spin the wheels off the line with fairly wide tires. It has plenty of get-up-and-go to merge onto freeways. I know because I've done it many times. One reviewer made a great comment stating that if you feel this car doesn't have enough power to safely drive around town or merge onto freeways, you probably should not be behind the wheel because you don't know how to drive. I am paraphrasing but that is the gist of it. The six-speed auto is very smooth, better for around town than a dual-clutch tranny any day. Dual-clutch transmissions are more fun to drive manually but for those who do not wish to throw the vehicle around every corner aggressively 😬 this is a better option. I wish the 1RS had a push-button start (like the 2 RS) because that is what my wife would prefer. 😏 A new Chevy Trax would be a nice change for her, not having to look at the TDI Christmas tree light dashboard constantly. The TDI now needs a $3,000 plus ABS module, plus labour. 🙄 The Trax rides nice and high so no worries about scraping the front end on a high cement curb when parking yet it sticks to the road, more like a hatchback. The four-speaker stereo is "okay" but being a music producer, I do wish it was a little better. My wife's current car is a 2011 VW Golf TDI and it has a very nice stereo with 8 speakers. Her TDI does NOT have the Dynaudio upgrade but still sounds much better than the Trax. I know the 2RS has a six-speaker system but I'm not sure if it sounds any better as I have yet to hear it. I believe it adds tweeters up front. Don't get me wrong, the 4 speaker system in the 1RS is fine, just nothing special. As a recording studio engineer/producer, I often listen to songs that I am in the middle of mixing in my car which is why it is important to me. My wife thinks it sounds just fine. As for the old-style tach and speedo, I like it! I think it is very RS in nature 😎 much more so than a digital dash. 🙄 I guess I'm old school that way. This 1RS also has the Driver Confidence package which adds a host of safety features, something our 2011 Golf TDI is lacking. If this one had the sunroof option I would most likely buy it from my bro. He has a white one with the sunroof but we want Fountain Blue like this one BUT with the sunroof. The red accents inside and out look very sporty and the cloth seats appear to be of high quality and are comfy too. They heat up quickly and so does the steering wheel. The seats have three heat settings while the steering wheel has one. I like the low heat setting for the seats but find the heated steering wheel is too hot to leave on continuously. I have seen some reviewers state that there are no rear air vents but that is wrong. They are located under the front seats. I am pretty sure we'll be purchasing one soon in Fountain Blue but my bro says they are hard to come by since they provide so much bang for the buck. I now have to convince myself that the decrease in fuel economy over the TDI and average car stereo will be worth it. I can always upgrade the speakers though. All my wife wants is a new car without the dashboard warning lights coming on all the time. We both think this is a fine-looking vehicle. 😀 About me. I am a self-proclaimed car guy. I have restored multiple cars over the years and have a 1982 Lancia Zagato parked in my garage as a sunny day driver. I ❤ cars.
Im honestly super excited as I’m going from a 96 explorer to this car. This will be my second car and a massive upgrade. To have an affordable and fully functional car is exciting. Previous trax was soooo ugly. This has gotta be the biggest single generation glowup in entry-level car history. Edit: I swear I wrote that comment before Jakub said "glowup of the century" so he technically stole my line.
The biggest reason for the way HVAC systems direct air is for efficiency. Since utilizing the HVAC uses energy, they want to make the distribution of that air as efficiency as possible. Blowing only down for heat (since heat rises) gives you a similar amount of "cabin heating" with using less energy, same with the AC.
But it would be nice to have the choice of higher effectiveness so that by flowing through the top, middle and bottom of the dashboard you could achieve faster cooling or heating 👍
Helping my parents get this. It's a lot of car for the price. The only thing that dad said he needed was a hatch for a trunk. This vs a Nissan Kicks with a CVT, I'm picking this.
I've had this for a couple of weeks after getting rid of my $30K sedan that I had for 11 years. I'm not a car guy, so I don't really care about LED lights (I don't even know what the pros on cons are for those) or horsepower. I used to have over 200 horsepower, and, again, I really don't care that I now have much less. It looks nice. It handles just fine. I can't pass people up as easily and can't beat the car to my side from a red light stop anymore, but I shouldn't be doing those things, anyway. I bought the base model with no extras, and I'm quite satisfied with it at a $20,450 price point.
For those who own 300 HP or 500 HP car, this could be sluggish. But honestly, I think in the city or suburban area, this is more than adequate IMO. This is totally different acceleration feels compared to NA engine which has equivalent HP to this. Until the 4,500 to 5,000 RPM, HP and torque curve far exceeds 2L NA engine. But more close to 2.4 or 2.5 engine in the relatively lighter weight. I own both 300 HP SUV and 1.3L encore GX, but never felt that this power is not enough around town. By the way, thanks always for your honest review!

Still waiting for colder weather to put them on, but they get a lot of good reviews, so here's hoping they work out well.
The 1RS comes with heated seats, heated steering wheel, remote start, apple car play / android auto, blind spot monitoring, 30mpg on regular for like $22k. A civic with all those features would be at least $30k. And it actually looks pretty good too
Couple of things…..it’s not a 9 speed auto….it’s a 6 speed auto, it is available with active noise cancellation, and the Activ trim offers a power driver seat. 😊
Not a huge fan of the looks of the car but at the highest trim its 31k. That's absolutely amazing. I think what you get for the money here is pretty much unmatched.
Modern GM just puts lipstick on a pig. The engines are unreliable. The transmissions fall apart as early as 30k miles. All the electronics will break within a lease period. The suspension will fall apart if you go over a speed bump. If this sold more it would probably be one of the most repaired cars I know, that goes to the Equinox. By far in the last 5 years GM vehicles are my number one customer. Please keep buying them 🤣
Honestly, for the price, I don’t know if there’s much to complain about. It’s an affordable car with some nice features. I’d probably get a Japanese vehicle over the American vehicles though. Just my opinion
I think the Chevy Trax RS is a great vehicle for the price and value. If you are picky get a more expensive vehicle. I have the Blazer RS and the extra turbo charged V6 is very nice with the extra room. Either one is good GM quality.
I just drove the Outback. I feel cheated for listening to everyone complain about the CVT transmission and did not consider it for my previous car purchase (I bought the cx5). For most people, CVT is just amazing. Otherwise, buy Mazda 6-speed vehicles.
Enough with the arm rest. I haven't noticed it being that bad. I,m not driving with all my weight on the arm rest 😂. It's $26,900 in the US. I have a C8 Corvette and I bought one. Nothing out there compares price wise for all the features you get.
I don't have much hope for these to last long. Saw another review where there was problems with the windows and the gauges. Then I personally saw one that had a DRL out. Not even a year old and this many issues? Man these looked so good but GM quality.
Cant wait till you get a hold of the new Camaro in the same color! (Nothing’s really changed since your last Camaro review but I’d still like to see another Camaro on the channel)
Only fwd? That's weird. I think of "Trax" as "traction" or traction. Looks like the trailblazer and encore take the win as far as a cheap(ish) and fun gas sipper AWD vehicle. I just wish the seats weren't so awkward and little in these things. Console and door arm rests are in funky spots, too.
You should review the Chevy Spark (or Sonic) if you get a chance now that you mentioned it. They're gonna get discontinued very soon, and you haven't reviewed little sub compact cars in like ages.
I can't knock this for someone wanting a basic A to B commuter with some room and a reasonable price point this is not bad at all. I would still pay more money and take a CX30 turbo over anything in its peer group. Again for what it is and if you do need AWD this is just fine.
Yuri, we traded in our 22 CX-5 Turbo for the 24 CX-90 PHEV. The native wireless Android Auto prompts you which phone if both phones are detected. I assume it would do this for CarPlay as well since it’s native to the car. When we tried adding a dongle to the CX-5 it did what you said in this video.
If a raised ride height is valuable to you, then it might be a good value. If features, interior quality, and performance is more valuable to you, then a Kia Forte GT blows this away. It’s better in every way other than ride height and will cost you less money.
I see this as more of a competitor to the Crosstrek, HR-V, and Corolla Cross than the Civic or more upscale FWD only Envista. Doesn't look bad and no CVT would have it higher on my list than the others if I was looking at a vehicle like this. Great video guys.
Crosstrek, HRV, Corolla Cross, Trailblazer/Encore GX, and others are Tier 1 subcompact crossovers. The Trax/Envista are Tier 2 subcompact crossovers that competes with the Kicks, Venue, Soul, Renegade, and Outlander Sport.
This is the car for the person who just settles. An average person, with low aspirational goals. Date dumpy, dripping in disappointment… here is the Chevy for you.

I almost bought a 1RS today, but 27,400 was too much. Plus I wanted an extended warranty and would have been over 30k.
I just drove the Outback. I feel cheated for listening to everyone complain about the CVT transmission and did not consider it for my previous car purchase (I bought the cx5). For most people, CVT is just amazing. Otherwise, buy Mazda 6-speed vehicles.
Last time I've seen such glowing reviews was for the all new Chevy Vega
Praise where it’s due. When it’s not…watch our 2022 Chevy Traverse review
For the price, I don't think you could do better. And it looks pretty good too!
Enough with the arm rest. I haven't noticed it being that bad. I,m not driving with all my weight on the arm rest 😂. It's $26,900 in the US. I have a C8 Corvette and I bought one. Nothing out there compares price wise for all the features you get.
Thinking about leasing one for my wife. Price point is tremendous. It’s just a suburban grocery getter
Man time flies, your kids are getting big!
Sounds like Tuxmat needs to make armrest covers ahaha
I don't have much hope for these to last long. Saw another review where there was problems with the windows and the gauges. Then I personally saw one that had a DRL out.
Not even a year old and this many issues? Man these looked so good but GM quality.
The base model start at 21k to 30k if you want luxuries stuff on it. grear car for this economy
Console and door arm rests are in funky spots, too.
really hope chevy give it a manual transmission - a modern security device.
Good luck finding a ACTIV or RS2 trim. Especially without a market adjustment.
Do you think the price will go up?
Every Trax has active noise cancellation technology
I had a Kia Rio rental once - worse than rock hard arm rests? It had some cheap fabric that felt like a cheese grater on my elbow.
You should review the Chevy Spark (or Sonic) if you get a chance now that you mentioned it. They're gonna get discontinued very soon, and you haven't reviewed little sub compact cars in like ages.
The Blazer Trax and Equinox basically all look the same to me. Wish they differentiated their models more.
Yeah but does it have enough space in the back trunk to do the doggystyle?
I can't believe people even consider buying these things
7:38 Guys, this doesn't have a 9 speed auto, it's a 6 speed. Also, it does have active noise cancelling as standard. Sorry, had to nitpick 🤓
Yup my mistakes not nitpicking
When your wrong, YOUR WRONG! It's not a civic competitor so stop trying to make it. Good video I guess lol
10:24 FYI Volkswagen has had that future since at least 2012. My Golf R does that---so nice.
If a raised ride height is valuable to you, then it might be a good value. If features, interior quality, and performance is more valuable to you, then a Kia Forte GT blows this away. It’s better in every way other than ride height and will cost you less money.
Exterior is perfect
I’d rather have the Envista over the Trax. But I’d love either one as a work car.
You guys are my good baby boys!
I sell cars for GM and we cannot keep these in stock. Best value for money out there!
This is the car for the person who just settles. An average person, with low aspirational goals. Date dumpy, dripping in disappointment… here is the Chevy for you.
GM needs to figure out tail lights already
TAILLIGHTS*!!!😪😪😪😪😪😪😪😪
@@santinoeli71506 don't care
For that price I would go with cx5 carbon edition
For THAT price?
Get real.
I can't wait till these end up at the rental lots and usher in a new era of rental spec styling.
Civics always have strong resale value. Thats a Chevy trax!
I suspect (rather hope) that Chevy will differentiate the trim levels more in the future.
You can change the dash screen! why do so many reviews say you can't?
Hopefully it doesnt have a control arm issue again like the previous gen.
The wavy stitching at 8:21 just screams GM to me
Hey trax owners, how is the backseat for a rear facing car seat? I have a 2019 civic hatch currently and believe it or not my wife can’t sit comfortably in the front seat with our Graco car seat behind her
