Gelber was a great pianist in his younger years. I heard him play both Brahms Concerti back to back in 1973 He was spectacular. I heard in the Rachmaninov 3rd and all Chopin in Paris. All the performances were stellar. There was nothing merkwürdiger about him nothing. I think his physical ailments have slowed down and curtailed his performances in the last 20 years. In my book in was underrated in his time
HE WAS GREAT, GREAT PIANIST, RUBINSTEIN LOVED HIM AND HIS PERFORMANCES. I THINK ARTHUR TOOK OFF HIS WATCH AND GAVE IT THIM, TOO BAD HE BECAME VERY HEAVY, SUCH A SHAME, SUPERB PIANIST, SOMEWHAT FORGOTTEN, THANKS FOR YOU GREAT COMMENT SIR
