Thank you Skillshare for sponsoring this video and this series, Overwatch 101. It's like a University/College lecture format except your professor is... me, an unlicensed and uncertified gaming hermit.
Hopefully you still learned something or found it entertaining, game sense and positioning guides next!

Hello students, I am professor KarQ welcome to OVERWATCH 101: Mechanics. The class syllabus is posted online, textbooks will cost $500 and we have 2 midterms and 1 final exam and homework every week. Enjoy and thank Skillshare for sponsoring this Overwatch virtual learning experience. You should actually join and take real lessons from much more qualified people than me on there.

Mercy:
General:
Your life is the MOST valuable life on the team, as you essentially count as 2 players. Do not risk your life to save someone that isn't savable.
As support, and as Mercy especially, your job is to keep your team alive through utility, gamesense, and of course healing. Make sure you keep track of enemy positions, ultimate usage, and ability cooldowns. Mercy's lack of actual aim on her beam allows her to focus on details more than say, an Ana.
Aim:
Not too much going on here, but it's important to have the ability to quickly prioritize and switch to an ally who is under attack. Your timing can be the saving grace of an ally in a fight.
You also want to be constantly looking at flank routes to check for flankers like tracer. The foresight can save your life.
Movement:
General strafing and crouch spamming
Position in areas that give you cover, while also allowing you to have multiple flight paths to allies.
When beaming an ally, dip in and out of cover. Mercy's beams stay connected for about 1.3 seconds after leaving an ally's LoS (line of sight). Minimizing the time an enemy can hit you is crucial as Mercy.
Use the techniques listed in Guardian Angel to position, change your hitbox, and avoid damage.
Ability Usage:
For this I'm gonna have sub sections due to the depth of mercy's abilities.
Heal/Damage Boost:
Getting higher in the ranks means you should be using the latter more and more often. You should measure the worth of your second healer and adapt your playstyle to their healing output.
Generally, prioritizing damage boosting over healing is the best option, unless your second healer is dead or a low healing support, like Lucio. I know it's difficult, but trust your other support, at least until you deem them untrustworthy.
Pistol:
The pistol is a great tool to use in conjunction with superjump and Valkyrie. The pistol's being projectile allows for cheeky shots at corners or backline snipers. The extra ult charge can make a difference in a fight.
Generally, you'll want to use the pistol if there are no beam targets, like if you're walking back to spawn or your only ally in LoS is a Reinhardt without firestrike. Even if you don't think you'll need to the pistol, the time spent switching to it could be the difference between getting your ult or not or winning that 1v1.
In Valkyrie, it may be tempting to hunt down that pesky Widow, but a rule of thumb I like to apply when trying to duel snipers is that I usually try to finish up the kill within 5 seconds, if I can't, I abort. Time spent shooting a sniper is time spent not healing or boosting your team. If you spend 10 seconds of Valk killing a widow and your team is dead, was that kill worth it? Unless you're throwing, the answer is no.
Guardian Angel:
Superjump
Superjump Rez
Aerial Superjump
Backwards GA
GA Slingshot
GA Bunnyhop
Try not to make a habit of Superjumping in the presence of snipers and such, it's an easy kill for them.
(Niandra has well-made guides on all of these if you want to learn them)
Ressurect:
As listed before, the superjump rez makes abilities and shots miss and makes it more likely you'll pull the rez off, but it's difficult to master and can be risky if you haven't practiced.
Believe it or not, that head spinning Mercys do when they rez can actually work, as it makes her head move every which way. However, it's more consistent to just turn and look down.
Wrap yourself around walls, pillars, boxes, or anything that can block shots on you during a rez. Remember, the ability has a 5 meter radius, but not an LoS requirement. As long as you trigger the rez and don't get out of that radius, you can move anywhere.
Valkyrie:
Valk is one of those ultimates that is really good to use as your team is pushing into the fight, similar to Coalescence.
Do NOT use Valk as a defensive ultimate unless you know the enemy team for a FACT can't follow up on whatever they're trying to do OR you have something like an Ana nade or Moira healing as well.
Try to prioritize damage boost even more in Valk; chain damage boost is one of the best support utilities in the game, and it can make your team feel like a meat grinder and the enemy is a juicy hunk of beef.
Context: I am peak low masters (3588) and a semi-Mercy one trick. I’ve been playing Overwatch for 3 years now and would say that I’m quite knowledgeable regarding it, as I have plenty of personal experience as well as interactions with other players and research into all things Overwatch.
I think a lot of people forget about mercy pistol, regardless of whether or not you use it often it is incredibly important to be able to use. Her pistol is projectile and because of mercy's ability to cheaply move to high ground positions or just to be above her enemies it can be really easy to get a bunch of headshots in a row to quickly kill a sniper or backline support. also I feel like ga should count under aim finding the right ga target in a pinch can be very aim dependent and making good use of tight ga sightlines can get you out of danger more often than not
@@clare5688 You're right! I was thinking it was common knowledge so I didn't include it, but thinking about it, it's a lot more in depth than people think. I'll make sure to add it. Thanks!
@@lukemchugh719 i dissagree. When people say she is a no skill hero, i think they mean in comparisonnto others. Of course you need a brain, good movement, and ability usage. But when paired against almost any other hero, mercy is simply not as hard
During the resurrection, the animation is unchanged. U can move and turn your head to the sides, but looking down won't work :)
This was extremely information and thought out. Thanks for the tips

Brigitte:
1. Aim
- Mace to the face
- Whip shot is similar to Roadhog's hook, a "projectile" with limited range.
- Arguably shield bash depending on the situation, like if you're between the frontline and backline of your team and a Genji dashes towards your Ana with blade, you may need to do a quick 180 shield bash. There's quite a few situations requiring a quick turn into shield bash.
2. Movement
- Shield bash b-hop for extra distance (very helpful for closing distances/disengaging)
- Shield bash on certain surfaces to fly into the sky
3. Abilities
- Keeping inspire going as much as possible, especially at critical times.
- Proper usage of whip shot depending on what's needed: booping target to create distance, activating inspire, and/or dealing damage.
- Shield management is now huge for Brig in her current state (200hp with 250hp barrier). The nature of her character requires you to be close to the combat at all times to get value, but she has poor mobility and can't tank shots as easily anymore. Rely too much on her barrier and it melts within a second, rely too little and either Widowmaker clicks your head or you're stuck behind cover doing not a whole lot.
- Armor pack prioritization. Usually best to keep at least 1 for your other healer (especially if they aren't very self-sufficient). Are you anticipating an ally taking a lot of damage? If burst healing isn't needed and you're able to activate inspire, it might be best to save your armor packs.
- Rally usage depending on what's needed: Give your team 100 armor pre-battle, have constant rally armor during a battle, and/or become a raid boss and rush the enemies.
Doesn't change the fact that its a cancer hero
Brig also gets poked at by the community as a no-skill hero but when you write it out like that there's so much involved mechanically to work on. Nice 👍
Shield bash b-hop is super usefull. Just remember you can't do it mid-air. The way I do it is to use shieldbash + press and hold jump at the same time. I think you don't need to hold the jump, but I am more consistant when I hold it.
@@MarB_Music I kinda just reflexively double tap spacebar when I do it, maybe I should try holding it down because my way only works like half the time lol.
One more ability usage tip: use bash + whip combo to boop enemies really far. If you do this, your victim can't effect the boop range with his movement keys, because he is stunned. If you do bash + primary + whip, you deal more damahe but the enemy can control the boop range so it is not that good for booping of the map :)
Finally someone pointing out how bad those “guides” are
Not to mention blizzard guides has been getting out of hand with their thumbnails, seriously their thumbnails are clickbait AF
They have some good videos but the thumbnails are questionable to say the least and their videos started to be repetitive and useless.
@@ohbitch94 wait how is there clickbait? I looked on the overwatch league and playoverwatch channels but didn't really see any clickbait
Craze it’s a channel “blizzard guides” just search and you’ll see
@@ohbitch94 oh yea I see, although I'm pretty sure it's not an official blizzard channel, so that's good. There is some pretty bad clickbait on there.
Ana
1)Aim
- scoped and no scoped
- quick scope
- flicking
2) movement
- hard to hit
- stay on high ground
3) ability usage
- sleep when being dives
-Anti someone who is being pocketed
- use grenade as heal
Also Nano to save a teammate who got tagged by certain abilities (doom punch)
Use your abilities wisely. Don‘t try to hit a random sleep dart by just shooting it straight into the enemy team because someone on their team could just be waiting for you to waste your sleep in order to dive you. If you hold it back it might also be a threat to them and they might think twice about diving you, especially when you already hit them once when they were trying to attack you. Same with nade.
You need to find a good balance between using and holding them back.
Under tech, don’t forget stuff like quick scoping, reload animation canceling, and sleep damage combos
Staying on high ground would be classified as positioning rather than movement, I'm sure KarQ will make a video on that soon enough. Something more applicable would be abusing Ana's specific head hitbox by looking down or to the side occasionally.
The only skillfull ability Ana has Is sleep Dart.
Dva
Aim:
-Tracking whoever you are shooting at,
-Missilies are projectile though
Movement:
-Knowing how to fly with your boosters
-finding a good way to dodge as baby dva
-Knowing when and where to dive
-Making sure you peel for your supports
Ability Usage:
-Using your dm to save teamate
-Ult tracking heroess for dm
-Managing your booster when engaging, and we you are trying to escape
I can absolutely vouch for the 1st point. I cannot even begin to count how many D.vas perished due to me being able to constantly evade their shots
Bap.
1. Aim
-hitscan weapon that you can lead or track.
-projectile that you have to lead and it has an arc which makes it harder to hit air borne targets and you have to try to splash multiple targets, mainly both tanks.
Projectile drone that has a travel and a deployment time
2. Movement
-Straiffing to make you harder to hit
-crouching and super jumps for evasion and hitting targets behind cover.
3. Ability usage.
-Drone is one of the strongest abilities but it can be destroyed easily so timing is everything. Travel and deployment time makes it harder to use at distance
-Matrix for you or your team? Where do you deploy it for max value.
-Do you deal dmg or heal your team.
-Regen burst has a long cooldown so you gotta save it for when you or your team takes dmg.
Doomfist is another hard one, you need to have good up close aim for those uppercut follow up shots
You need fairly good movement and strafing, especially against snipers, and doing rollouts and sliding on rooftops for max slam setups can be tricky
He has the hardest ability cooldown management in the game. Especially if you're a Rollout Randy like me and like to fuck people in the ass from the rooftops on maps like Dorado or Eichenwalde.
Not to mention about 2/3 of the characters in the game counter him in some way
@@windblazeanims6253 or u hold right click and get a insta kill, get the health of a zarya then get out.
For 1) aim, there's also the whole mechanical aspect of dps aim then heal someone right afer. If you do it fast enough there's no downtime if done right, takes some serious mechanics tho
2) movement, you can do lateral strafing mid-air while in exo-boot jump which is very important imo.
Nice work though
I like your profile picture.
SYMMETRA
1.) AIM
- Flicking (Orbs)
-Tracking (Beam)
2.) MOVEMENT
-Consitantly Strafing, Crouching, in order to not get eliminated easily.
-Always uses teleporter in order to escape danger.
3.) ABILITY MANAGEMENT
-be careful about using turrets and space them apart.
-teleporter use it for flanking or escaping.
-ultimate use it to counter or attack.
altough this may look quite easy or symmetra is easy to play. its actually not, you really got to look at who can dive you, because she has such a low mobility. altough she strives at team fight because of level 3 beam, you have to stay close to enemies in order to kill them, but remember she only has 200 health. plus you really need to look out for you turrets because it is 30seconds before you can get them all.
Lucio "(reddit lucio tips)"
1, Aim
-Leading your shots and getting better at hitting the target drastically improoves your presence in the field. (1st pre requisit for a reddit lucio playstyle)
-Start learning the boop distance when you aim for enviromental kills. Knowing how long your boop carries an enemy is crucial if you want to dominate on the "lucio" maps. (2nd pre requisit for a reddit lucio playstyle)
2, Movement
-Rollouts: You are sonic the frog take advantage of it. Being back on the field super fast takes away the pressure on your team. (2.5 pre requisit, its not essential but it makes you have some insane early game plays)
-Strafing, and flicking auras. When you dont have walls avalabile you are way more defensless. Or are you? Flicking auras while strafing drastically improoves your unpredictibility since your speed randomly changes wich adds another factor.
-Make wall ride second hand in nature. For a good lucio player walls are the extencions of the ground not an obstacle. (3rd pre requisit for a reddit lucio playstyle)
3, Ability managment
-Know when to amp and what amp you use. Learning when its the best for the burst heal or speed amping before an engagement literally changes the outcome in your favour. You mostly need raw experience for this but its lucios most crucial ability. (bonus for improoving at reddit lucio style. survive and be fast)
-Know when to drop the beat. Same as the heal amp except on a way larger scale. You cant always block a full ult (grav dragon or a face up nuke, junk waiting out with the rip tire ect) but you can block the most crucial parts of the fight essentially negating the enemy advancements. Learning not to waste the beat takes you to the next level, because it can save you minutes in a game with a good fight.
4, Watch KarQ-s lucio tip videos to get a better understanding
-A rollout tip for every map
-1 tip against every hero
-1 workshop mode for every hero (lucio part)
dude someone arrange this guy a 1v1 with frogger
In Aim (or movement?), you could add the shoot, boop, melee combo, because thats one of common "reddit lucio" skills (Eskay's crazy widow dives etc.)
Also bhop is worth mentioning in my opinion, considering how useful it can be. Otherwise, pretty nice guide.
@@matousvodnansky408 True but there is so mutch someone can take in at once and I belive these are the basics. Bunny hop comes when you can alredy moove around like a bullet (and many rollout guide include it) and yea the shootmeleeboop is a good one I left that out.
@@kjpianoman42 pretty sure that frogger once said he would 1v1 with anyone and he would still lose if its a lucio battle , due to the fact he's more into teamfight rather then 1v1 people
I was gunna do a lucio one
Zarya (3 domains)
1. Aim
- Hitscan tracking beam
- Projectile alt fire with an arc
- Projectile ultimage with same arc as alt fire
2. Movement
- General strafing
- Alt fire rocket jumps
3. Ability Usage
- Bubble timing
- Knowing when to use Grav
Out of all of these, Zarya gets the most impact off her bubbles, and that's probably my weakest area. I can get charge fairly easily, but there have been many times where I have panic bubbled myself or wasted my projected bubble on a teammate who didn't need it.
The Zaryas that kick my ass always have that clutch friendly bubble to save their teammates, so next time I play Zarya I will look for maximum projected barrier value by using it to save my teammates as often as I can.
My goal is to minimize wasted bubbles and make sure every bubble I use has a purpose.
Reinhardt:
1) Aim
- His hammer swing has an oblong hitbox, therefore you can hit targets further away from you if you aim to the side if your swing direction where the hitbox is longest
- Firestrike is a powerful yet slow projectile, and requires an important thought process on its usage (group vs individual; flick vs track)
2) Movement
- You will be holding up shield most of the time, which makes you move slower. How can you manipulate his strafing/jumping/shield placement to maximize effectiveness?
- Charge is extremely useful for crossing the map quickly. You can also slightly manipulate your direction by moving left and right. Some maps can be crossed even easier by perfecting turn timing and even increasing his distance by holding jump as its duration ends (ie. Lijiang Garden)
3) Ability usage
- Fire strike has a short cooldown and cast time. You can even cancel your swing animation cancel into firestrike to quickly deal a 175 damage combo
- Shield also has a swing animation cancel, which can be useful to hit a nearby enemy without taking all the damage being shot at you (especially useful against heroes with a reset time like hanzo and widowmaker). Also important is using natural cover to keep your shield from being over damaged. If your shield is broken, you become a big and defensless hunk of ult-charge for the enemy
- Charge is a high-risk high-reward ability that deals 300 dmg nix amour. You are extremely vulnerable while charging (can be combod well with zarya bubble) so it can be best used in a small area with a guaranteed pin location (think Kings Row 1st pt vs Junkertown 1st point). Even more useful, you can use it to cancel the enemy rein or doomfist mid charge/punch, allowing your team to make a counter play.
- Earthshatter is a high value but easily avoidable ultimate. Knowing what stuns and other cancels the enemy has is crucial to casting, as well as avoiding obstacles such as shields. How can i learn the correct timing/targets to use it on? How can i manipulate flanks or mess with my opponents heads?
I have mastered all of that except ult tracking and blocking shatters
Little known Rein tech / bug (aka Blizzard term for surprise feature): Rein swing is in fact so long, that you can stand in front of a deflecting Genji, and your hammer hitbox will be able to strike him from the back where his deflect doesn't cover him.

Ashe:
1. Aim
- Hitscan weapon that you can track or flick, tracking more on hip fire, flicking works better scoped than for hipfire
- Projectile dynamite, which you have to track and hit it midair
2. Movement
- don’t crouch spam much during scoped, barely affects your hit box and messes up ur aim more
- strafing to make yourself harder to hit
3. Ability usage
- coach gun to knock back enemies or get away from them
- dynamite for big aoe damage
- bob needs to be placed in the right place at the right time
- knowing when to scope and when to hipfire
That’s my attempt at it, how was that?
I think its pretty good, but youre missing anything about coach gun :)
Clare Scriven yea I wasn’t sure what to do about coach gun, I got a bit stuck on that, what do u think I should do for it?
Coach can be used as a movement ability to reach high ground or just fly in the air as you try to hit that pesky Widow. Careful though, if she's aiming at you, you're an easy target after you start to go down. Also, using the coach gun to take distance and scopping/shoting while you're both mid air, if the enemy has no movement ability it's an easy target to hit since he's stuck in that mid air animation, so no strafing, though it's a short window.
On the side of being creative, coach gun can just be used to reposition an enemy or throw him off the map. Sometimes you can push a flanker right into your team as they come for you
@@jaidenh118 I was thinking along the same lines as Ramon but also you can use it to give distance between you and the enemy (for instance if you get hog hooked) you can use it offensively for boops, you can use it to evade flankers with repositioning to high ground (like tracer) you can use it to detonate dynamite if you can take the damage, you can clear a high ground (think oasis and busan) you can force enemies into bad positions (ie push them into grav, detour a rein charge) . Also for ashes dynamite its important to remember that health packs clear the effect of burning so if youre using it on a single target you need to be cautious about how close they are to a health pack so you get the maximum ult charge from that target and can sometimes be the difference between completing or not completing a kill. Mercy is the best single target for the dynamite blast in my opinion because the damage over time stops mercy's passive from being activated and most lower level mercy mains or people who flex on mercy won't remember that.
Moira:
1) Aim
-HS tracking for secondary fire.
-Projectile tracking for primary fire.
2) Movement
-General strafing
-Fade usage to reposition
3) Ability usage
-Which orb to use
-Fade jumps
-Orb bounces to increase healing duration
-Orb to coalescence animation cancel
-Orb to fade animation cancel
-Orb + Fade + Coalescence
-Fade timing (D.va bomb, high noon, EMP)

Widow(3 Domains)
1. Aim
- Crosshair placement for lining up shots.
-Mouse Control and movement reading to better counter enemy movement.
2. Movement
- More important when dueling other Widows since she's too slow to throw off bodyshots while aiming, and too insignificant without her sniper shots, but still important to not stay completely still.
3.
- Grapple usage especially. (Like her tech that lets her not burn CD on grapple.)
- Building the habit of throwing venom out, and maybe practicing yeeting it so you can place it at distant locations while staying in a good position.
- Relates back to crosshair placement, but being good at lining up shots when walls are up.
When you think about it she actually requires all 3 skills but aim is most dominant

Blocking headshots with his arm
Learning what spots wallclimb gets screwed up in
Using leap to avoid projectiles in some cases, or behind cover against hitscan
Peeking out of cover with wallclimb and then leaping back against Widow, or other targets when low on health
3: Ability management
Not wasting leap
Knowing when to use sonic on flank spots and when to use it to line up shots
Knowing which targets to use storm arrows on, and which targets aren't worth it
Deciding whether to use Dragonstrike to zone/split enemy teams or to combine it with other ults
Realizing sonic arrow no-longer deals damage when dropping from a barrier or Mei's popsicle

Great video KarQ! Really well explains the mechanics part of the game, I've only ever heard people refer to mechanics as their aim, when in reality it's everything you said and more. It's a very broad term, but every part of it is incredibly important to improving.
Rein
-Mindgames
-Shield usage
-Shield dancing is also pretty important i guess
-Ult tracking (REALLY IMPORTANT)
-Dont get greedy with your ult (1 or 2 is fine)
-Dont hold ult for too long because you can get it back pretty fast
-Positioning
(Movement is not really important since you have a large hitbox)
-Play aggressive
-Know where your teammates are, and if you're in their LOS (Line of sight)
You can ask me if you don't understand something
-play aggressive/passive*
There's a time for both
@@masonjar8326 well yeah, could've added it but i didn't. Aggressive is more of my playstyle, and i think that you should prioritize the aggressive playstyle more than the passive.

Hey, Mercy needs aim! She has a pistol! The Mercy who nails her shots when the situation calls for it (however rare it might be) is that much better.
Mercy's bullets have a huge hitbox so even if you have bad aim you can still hit shots with her.
@@el.sonic.chingon Exactly, mercy requires no skill.
@@this-.--guy still doesn't change the fact that you don't need to aim. Sorry, it's true
@@user87576 I never said she didn't require skill. She still requires skill but the skill ceiling isnt nearly as high as other heroes. Just because she doesnt require aim doesnt mean that she doesnt require skill.
I agree. That’s why I believe that skill ceilings should dictate impact in game. High skill required = high game impact. Mercy requires less skill and as such she should have a lesser impact ingame, such she does. So have no problems with her, while character like junkrat have low skill but high impact. So his impact should be nerfed
thank you for pointing out the mechanical skill and awareness that you need with mercy

KarQ can you do another mercy 1 tip vs every hero the last one was 2 years ago
So I think like you said Genji falls into all three domains.
For aim you need;
Good tracking
Prediction
Knowledge of shuriken timing and spread
Ability to aim while constantly moving.
For movement you need;
Good strafing
Double jump timing
Knowledge of double jump availability
Swift strike direction and distance
Wall climb availability, environmental knowledge.
For ability usage you need;
Knowledge of cooldowns
Deflect timing
Swift strike direction and distance
Swift strike resets
When to Dragonblade
How to Dragonblade (Attack Speed, aim, more or less all movement and ability usage skills)
also something is that you have to be less aggressive with genji when you have deflect down
@@dineshjanapati6511 I've definitely learned that the hard way a few times.
Ball main here
aim:
- successfully one clipping stationary heroes like ana or widow
- piledriving closer to your target for maximum damage
- picking who to target as ball
movement
- know where every health pack is for healing
- super jumps and bounces
- rollouts to get back to point ASAP
- utilizing 3rd person peeking
ability usage
- knowing when shields are needed or not
- knowing when to soft engage without piledrive and/or shields or hard engaging using all 3 cooldowns
- good minefield placement (not too high, placed in a good spot)
- melee animation cancel while reloading
- knowing timing of reload while in ball form
- knowing how long it takes to reach fireball mode with short grapples

Great vid! Love Tracer and Genji but you kinda covered those but another fave is Pharah. (I'm terrible.)
Pharah
Aim:
-target movement predicition/anticipation/mercy guardian angel trajectory
-flicking to new targets/target priority
-drop kills/rocket+melee close-up combo
-ultimate target selection/mini rocket distribution over multiple targets
Movement:
-staying airborne/using map geometry to allow fuel to replenish
-rocket jumps (tech)(is that what they're called?)
-how about like...pharah movement with a mercy pocket? "playing with mercy" or "playing around mercy" maybe?
-hovering
-concussive blast escapes/quick repositions
-i'll say drop kills again because I think knowing where and when to cut the jetpack and just let yourself fall is helpful (keep in mind i play at a low rank where that sort of shit is viable).
Ability management:
-jump jet cooldown management! teaching yourself EXACTLY when your jump jet ability is off cooldown
-fuel efficiency
-concussive efficacy/generating environmental kills
-using concussive to create distance (concussing a charging DVa for example)
-concussive blast to knock opponents off high ground/repositioning the enemy with concussive blast
-ultimate use, where and when (as a low rank player it can be hard to know when to use the barrage for best impact)

Wrecking Ball (3 Domains)
Aim:
- tracking with his guns
-reload management bc of his long reload time and the ability to reload when in ball form
Movement:
- When to engage (!!!)
- getting enemy squishies from the highground
- getting maximum value, distance and speed out of your grapples
- wall, ledge and corner jumps for good movement when the grapple is on cooldown
- maximizing his uptime on the frontline by having good rollouts to get from the spawn to the fight very quick
- go into ball form for reload for faster movement and hiding your head hitbox
- dont bother your healers too much, just grab healpack, with hammonds speed your back in the fight really quick
- Hes literally the fastest hero in the game so movement is very important!!
Ability usage:
- Use grapple wisely and dont waste it and be on cooldown (think of it like winstons jump, he cant really retreat without it, same for wrecking ball.)
- use piledrive effectively, its your most damaging attack
- combine fireball grapple, piledriver and some aim to easily kill squishies
- use shield quickly after entering a fight before walls or shield block its full potential and before you get too much damage. This way you dont have to rely on healers as much and you can go in again as soon as your cd is back

-leading your shots
-track ahead of the enemy
-make sure you are back-boarding shields

-move your crosshair with your movement
3) ability usage
-use traps on your flank
-use concussion mines to get better angles
-use concussion mines to make space between you and the enemy
One thing I never see anyone mention when it comes to crosshairs placement is hugging corners with your crosshairs. Keep your crosshairs placed right on the edge of whatever you’re taking cover behind, this way you can take the shot the second you get sight of the enemy. I learned this by plying Rainbow Six Siege and noticed it helped with every FPS game I played.

Movement - use wall climb and dash. Jiggle peak and try to keep distance.
Ability - storm arrows for stationary targets or close range panics. Sonic arrow for intel and other snipers. Dragon for area denial not quadruples.
These videos are so well made and highly appreciated.
For Tracer a good tip to Blink management is to only Blink when someone is looking at you. If they’re not looking at you they can’t hit you (for the most part). A dead giveaway of an inexperienced Tracer is that they’ll Blink whenever they reload, but she empties her clip faster than her Blinks replenish so this causes you to not only use up all your Blinks but be very predictable as to when you’ll Blink next. Also if you do Blink when no one is aiming at you you risk putting yourself in their line of sight and taking something a stray Hanzo arrow to the head when you would’ve been otherwise safe and unnoticed.

-hitbox manipulation
3.ability usage
-Crossfade spam

-understanding the way beat works, such as its range and understanding line of sight
-Knowing the fact that there is a small window of time where beat can be given to players
-manipulating that knowledge to give beat to teammates that were out of line of sight when casted
-abusing the little hop that beat gives to do certain rollouts on maps like Anubis and Ilios well
D.va
1.Ability management, using defence matrix is essential for blocking fire when your team is low, and reacting to fire quickly like Zara’s grav can save and win team fights if used efficiently and reacting quickly. I’m currently stuck in silver and I think I need to work on my defence matrix reaction time in order to counter faster.
2. Aim, D.va’s rockets are extremely effective if actually used correctly. I’ve noticed in my games I tend to use her rockets like a hit scan ability, where it really isn’t one. It’s a projectile ability, like lucio’s primary fire. Anticipating enemy movement better will hopefully better my d.va when using her rockets.
Thanks karq much appreciated pls make more

The rythm of the shot is something that's rarely mentioned but really important, slow shooters like hog you need to increase accuracy since every shot matters so it's better to play "slower" just to increase accuracy as a trade off. At highest level people can play fast and shoot accurately but at the lower level this tip has helped me massively.
Best AD transition ever!!! High level
Signs
Aim: predicting/tracking enemy to hit spheres and rock. Also kind of part of aim shield placement.
Movement: strait and crouch often to avoid being hit and move a lot on gravitic flux to not be hit or srunned (or you can just put up your shield)
Ability usage: use rock to cancel ultimate or abilities such as high noon, recall, etc. Use your shield to block hook and hacks from enemy players. Use kinetic grasp to eat enemy shots or ultimates. Gravitic flux, use it at the beginning of a team fight or at the end to either begin the fight or end it. Also use it to cancel/abuse other ultimate such as Dragon blade, whole hog, and others.

Doomfist
Aim: perhaps not too much ,but you can still learn how to flick your rocket punches , how to aim it to get a wall diag , or u can actually change the damage area for the slam.
-also you have to adjust your crosshair placement for after every ability usage ,since uppercut launches ur enemies in the air and the rocket punch can send them further from you so you gotta adjust for a more likely headshot ( for example aim at the neck to hit both the head and the body for many less missed bullets)
Abilities: you have to keep good track of your cooldowns . Jumping on even one enemy with all the abilities might get u killed since u cant get out .
Mobility: you are a huge lump of muscle and meat , so you'll get hit bit a ton of stuff. Try to do general strafing and crouching to avoid at least some shots.
Abilities+mobility: since for doomfist these 2 go so well hand-in-hand i decided to combo some aspects of them.
-learn how to use your rocket punch to get falling diags , wall diags, wall slides ,also time your jump key to cancel the punch and get rocket punch hops. Then add in stuff like turn jumps to get better positioning or reach some unexpected places.
-basically learn all possible techs with uppercut , slam , meteor strike. Such as wall slams , hop slams , slide slams etc ,or ulting on top of the lijian tower to get a funny kill on the enemy pharah/ get a huuuge slam on the clumped up enemy team .
-just watch some videos honestly. Getquakedone's vids and streams ,or karq's doomfist vids are very useful and you can learn a lot about just how diverse and interesting doomfist's abilities interact with the map . Every map is essentially a playground for doom players as you'll always find a box to bounce off of , a ledge to falling diag off of , a wall to turn punch around etc. You can really just jump in a match and experiment with all the objects on the map and i'm sure you'll find an interesting rollout or a sick 125 slam.
Im sorry for how poorly this comment has beeb written compared to some other stuff , but i hope i got my point across. Doom can be very fun and , although not necesarilly , may require some of the most advanced ability and mobility mechanics.
I'm a sym main.
When she had her autolock, I would get so much shit about not needing to aim but still absolute wreck a team because straffing made her much harder to hit even with the beam being short in length. It kinda work to your favor when people discount you not needing to aim because they think so single mindedly about the game that it's easy to shatter their dreams.
The old charge ball was slow so you typically had to prefire but since they went through sheilds, you just had to put it in the path the enemy went down. And you would build her ult incredibly fast.
Turret placement was quite key. When you had more that could be easily damaged, spacing them out was key so they wouldnt be blown up in hit while also using them to block off a flank or key side area. They could also alert you of someone so you could deal with them and let the team know.
Tele and shield gen was also always up when I played her because managing all those elements gave you your alt in a minute if managed correctly. It often depended when I would use either. If we didnt have a mercy, I was usually more willing to have a Tele up but finding key spots for it was the heart of that. Something hard to find but close enough that the team could reliably use it.
Now she can still bring value, but I have a little trouble adapting mostly because I started playing mercy, dva, mei, and sombra more. She can still be a force, but too many people still have a negative view of her and her potential (ive been called a lot of things, the n word included)
One of the reasons why I main tracer is because of her mechanics, they are so fun to try and master and learning new things about her and her blink + melee animation cancel with recall is so useful and fun to pull off, I just think tracer is such a good hero to play if you are good at mechanics.
The roast on GameLeap and Blizzard Guides at the beginning was legendary
