      @@SwazzleProductions making a foam mock-up, and creating patterns from a foam mock-up. Only technique I’m familiar with is sculpting and masking tape. A more detailed fleece dying episode would be fun!

    Hello May I know the name of the blade you are using for cutting the foam? Is it 1/2 in ch foam or 1 inch foam?

    • @SwazzleProductions
      @SwazzleProductions  3 роки тому

      The blade is called a Persona Blade - that's the name brand. It's normally used for hair cutting. For this puppet we are using 1/2" sheet foam. We normally use 3/4" or 1/2" depending on the size of the puppet we are making.

    So my understanding is that you make this mock-up so that you have a foam structure you can cut apart to make another pattern. What’s the benefit of doing it that way instead of just creating the puppet in the way you built the mock-up? You seem to using patterns while making the mock-up anyway…

    • @SwazzleProductions
      @SwazzleProductions  3 роки тому

      When you are building a new puppet from a 2-D design there is always a degree of interpretation involved. The mock up gives you the first. chance to see what the puppet will look like in 3-D. This is the time to modify and adjust your shape as needed. Once it's modified to your liking you will cut it apart and make new final patterns for your actual puppet. We'll cover that step of the process in episode 10.

      @@SwazzleProductions thanks for the reply! I suppose my question was more around - if you’re already making/using pattens (petals for spheres, the arms you showed, etc) to make the mock up, why create another set of patterns from cutting it up? Is there a benefit to having fewer seams (other than speed if assembly of course!)?
