Back in 01 or 02 the Sheik was doing a signing in Norfolk ( he was out in town just some store Walmart I think) I saw him and he was alone no one asking for a picture and what not. So I walked over and got a photo and everything and I said to him he was one of my favorite bad guys. I told him I never played the hero as a kid I was the heel and I would pretend to be him on the school yard. Man he lit up and we talked for two hours he was so nice. By the time I got home my wife and mother in law were happy to see me but I got my ass chewed out but it was worth it lol.
I just met the Sarge for the first time in person at JoeFest 2023. Great man, a real American Hero. He had a lovely autographed picture of the Iron Sheik at his booth. Both are true legends. Thanks for the video JLS 👍

Yess. I asked for the slaughter marauder's bigbadtoystore exclusive set as a birthday present when I was a kid and that set gave me most of my joes and my favorite trio/sub team. I love the off the paper aspect of their character, it makes them even more bad ass. Mercer as an ex cobra viper with the slashed cobra logo tattoo is a top notch character design. I used to watch the falcon meet the renegades on repeat, so thank you for making this video, great as always.
That was wonderful man! Thank you for the video. What a blast from the past. I remember getting the 3pack of Renegades for Christmas along with the Cobra-La 3pack. I loved the GI Joe movie so this was a great time for me and a great memory.
Regarding the Renegades becoming proper Slaughter's Marauders, to me that makes a lot of sense. I mean it's not like Sarge has time to train these guys while he's actively running military campaigns for GI Joe

My 1st baby face "faction" in my GIWF... no one could stop the Dreadnoks, or the Vipers, or the Night Stalkers...sure good guys would team up, form some loose alliances,,but they didn't have that long time camaraderie that these dudes had...er with Sgt Slaughter....and for some reason William the fridge Perry loll.. Look, when you have a stranglehold onto the wrestling federation like the Viper Dreadnok alliance, you gotta have some big ol baby face combatants to make PPVs with
I liked Mercer. Noticed his hair was blonde in the card art like Drago but everywhere else it’s brown. Also Red Dog unfortunately didn’t come with that club thing he had in the toon movie he bit. And as a kid I thought Red Dog was an Indian and not Samoan 🤦♂️hate they weren’t used more
One thing I really hate about Mercers introduction in the devils due comics is that the comic acts like we've seen him before when he never apeared in the marvel comics ever! That to me is an example of bad story telling 101! When Larry relaunched the marvel comic for IDW, he brought in characters from the toyline who weren't in the marvel issues, sure, but it was cool because it didn't act like we've seen these characters in the series before in a story that dosen't exist! If devils due was gonna do all the nonsensical crap they did in their comics, why didn't they establish it as an alternate universe from the begining!

This was one of my favorite teams in G.I. Jie I wanted to see more of them.
