Sent here by Hot Dave and Jeff in BC. I grew up with wood heat and have been thinking about adding it. I hadn’t heard of your stoves until Dave & Jeff, but they definitely know about heating with wood! I take their advice seriously.
Thank you for this well paced informative video. We moved into a house with a blaze king and had no idea how to use it. Now I know and its running hot 😊
This is a perfect video ! First I thought its kinda laughable to explain a guy in his age how to run a stove, but hey this is a very valuable information !
Just bought a house in snow country after living in tropical climates. Has a Blaze King stove, but no manual and the previous owner left no information. This video showed me all the important things to know. Mine has a different placement of the combuster so I need to figure out how to access it for inspection and cleaning, but otherwise I learned a lot here!
Have you had any previous wood stove before a blaze king? Looking at maybe replacing pellet stove in house and installing a BK. Looked at one this weekend and wow, I can’t believe the quality.
I've been running a blaze king princess for two years and I have never had a burn time over 7 hours and have to constantly adjust the air and my pipe in the basement gets 250 degrees and they act like no heat goes up the chimney. I'm highly disappointed I have not seen any of the perks that made me buy this overpriced inefficient stove should have just bought a cheap stove from a big box stores I feel like they sell these stoves on false advertising
We have an older BK Princess catalytic here in NW Wyoming. Our house has high bluffs on the north side… making it hard to run the stove with a north wind which comes down off the bluff and hits the stack with powerful downward currents. My solution was to open a window on the north side, creating overpressure in the house, forcing smoke UP the stack, and secondly, installing a Vacu-Stack chimney top with bird screen. I run the stove hot and clean the stack annually.
Our Blaze King Princess is from the 1980s and has a slightly different layout, but the instructions are the same. Glad to know the heat shield can be removed so easily in the newer models. Not sure how to remove it in the older model, but will check with our chimney sweep.
We have a Blaze King catalytic wood stove on the lowest level of the house, and a Hitzer anthracite coal stove out in the pantry/reloading/ham radio/feed building. Both are extremely good at producing heat. Anthracite is getting extremely expensive, so I might have to start burning cheap local sub-bituminous coal. Our local wood for the Blaze King is lousy old pine. I did haul a couple cords of hardwood from Wisconsin, but I burn that sparingly.
Different info from what I’ve been told. I’ve had a blaze king for over 10 years . I love it. However was told to never use fire starter as it will damage the catalyst??
Hello. Hot Dave and the Gridlessness Family told me to come to you site to check out your stoves. Looking for a good wood stove to heat 3000 sq foot house, thoughts? The Gridlessness family are great salesman for you guys! Looking forward to hearing from you
I need help with my blaze king princess. Two handles. There are blowers...controls...trying to restore it. I think it came out in 1984? It's a beautiful stove and it works, just need to understand it better.
I have a brand new Blaze King Princess PE32 that has a single line of masking tape over the front of the catalytic converter. I thought about removing the converter to remove the tape but then read that you are not to remove the converter unless you have an extra seal. I do not. Question: Do I just tear off the part of the masking tape that obstructs the intake of the converter? I think it was put there for shipping purposes but really don't know.
😊 I have a question I have an older blaze king and somebody has torn out the catalytic converter. But that’s not my problem I cannot close the vent because there is a lot of ash behind it is there someway I could clean that possibly? I sure hope somebody answers me I really need some help thank you 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You can run your stove on high. The thermostat will automatically close as the room heats up. But be careful, if you have placed your stove in an area the stove does not have enough energy to heat like um-insulated basement. The energy output of the stove will never heat the area and the thermostat will never close. This will over-fire your stove and ware it out prematurely. The stove is designed for habitable areas only.
I just got mine installed and first fire. Its still burning 2 days later. never had a wood stove that was so controllable and burned so long and evenly.
Does this stove have a active fan or is the smoke dragged through your catalyst by the warm chimney? How does the catalyst react with hydrocarbons, is this oven siuted to burn torf, brown coal, stone coal, leaves, larger amounts of paper, plastics, rubber or heating oil in addition/ instead of wood without smoke or other harmfull exhaust once it reaches working temperature? how much costs one such catalyst block if I want to build my own oven to siut my space or burning medium but since they need to be replaced once they are exhausted/ burned out and loose efficiency , presuably every 8 to 10 years with intensive saisonal use is it onley a oxidation catalyst or a catalytic pack like in cars that also has reduction catalyst for NO2
Cord wood only. Anything else will destroy the catalyst. Natural draw drags the smoke through the catalyst (it's the only place it can go!) Most of the smoke burns in the catalyst and there is normally no visible smoke coming out of the chimney (once the fire is hot, flue is closed and thermostat set).
The thermometer that comes with the stove only has "inactive" and "active" zones. You don't have to worry about the exact temperature. When the needle is in the "active" zone, close the flue, set the thermostat and enjoy the heat.
interesting . however slow long burn are not proper burn . without proper burn you increase cheminey problem and risk of fire . you add more pollution to the air. it is not recommanded
Hadnt a clue how my combustor stove worked and this is the only video that was straight forward.
I heard this was nominated for an Emmy
😂😂

Good informative video! The vast majority of cat stove owners don’t operate it properly and never replace the cat when needed.
My favorite part, 6:55, she’s facing away from the camera reading her lines off of a piece of paper. Worth watching!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Omg I can't, I just CAN'T I can't breeeeeathe
I just kept thinking "Sia really let herself go"

No - this is my first wood stove.
A bit dorky, but informative and easy to watch. Thank you
Good information coupled with excellent acting
Love the way one Blaze King stove provides for the whole GRIDLESSNESS family. They sent me and I will be getting one for our Utah cabin when built.
This is great information. The questions are just what someone like me would ask, if I knew what to ask. The answers make everything clear.

Saw your ad on gridlessness Dave was great. Got me thinking about a new stove
I really should have sought out this video sooner. So much I didn't know. Thanks

Very good video. We really enjoy our Blaze King Princess. Thanks for the excellent products.
I was almost expecting it to turn into some kind of porn video the way the acting was hahahaha
Hi! Thanks for the video. I just moved in to a place with one of these stoves and no manual so this was useful information.
She really lit his fire in this video, she gets it so hot.
Especially while she was preparing his wood for the next load.
to adjust the air intake control, is it counterclockwise to lower????

"HOT DAVE" sent me , GREAT INFO !
Hot dave from gridless and the girls should do a video!! They are big fans of your stoves!!

you can use a fire starter as long as there are no hydro carbons in it.
I'm located in Kansas, and was wondering if these were shipped to the US and if so how much one would cost?
Gridlessness. Jeff and dave sent me. The are a great family. Please help them

Thought the bad acting was the start of an old school porn 😂

It will burn off when you have your first fire--they put it on to hold the converter gasket in place--should be mentioned in your manual
@@neilhudson6194 ---Thank you.
This is a really informative video with some of the worst acting / script reading I've ever seen in my life.
Still excellent content though.
Ok I pRoMiSe
They aren't actors, might be why
I was waiting for the 70's porn music to start playing. 🤣
@@1974jrod Dude: I've got your 6" stove pipe right here.

Gridlessness sent me over here.
cant wait to buy mine
no water heating modes?
You are such a fine Lady,
Such a Beauty 🥰
Where's the video on how to "break in" the wood stove?
Great video, thank you.
Is it OK to burn the stove wide open with the thermostat set on high for long periods? I'm talking hours

I have to agree with Matt. Great information, but seemed like it was filmed in the 50's.
This is not the same model/brand of stove that i am getting however very similar. This is great instructional video to go by though
Just seen a hot Dave at Gridlessness.
0:59 Cue 1970s porn score
I have a very strange feeling that a pizza delivery man is gonna show up some time soon 🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂
@Mikel Meilleur it actually helped me hack YOUR Instagram account. Is that how it was supposed to work?

Video said only burn dry wood

What is the active zone temp ? 500

great acting
Bryan Shelstad 😂
it's the director that really makes this a cinematic treasure.

I love my 2002 Englander Wood Stove. never will get a catalytic one. or a hybrid for that matter.
L eeee ver. Love it.
Works better with Dave. And Jeff.

Hola Sylv
Helpful for any cat stove but...very awkward delivery :)

Get a Hot Dave instead.
Worst porn ever.
That dude is more cringe than me.
Gaydar is going off plus nobody in their right mind would listen to a woman give instructions on how to run a wood stove.
What percentage of wood was burned during the full on 25 minute burn?
We did not measure the wood volume as the purpose of the video was to concentrate on operation. It was a small percentage.
