I was “reviewing” this in lockdown one and was using the pro version.....via beta testing.....I was comparing it against my garmin approach g80 and the numbers were all over the place and I had the same issues with not picking up a good few shots per try.....shame really as I’d hoped it would be good......needless to say my review stopped there......
a trick: you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
Hi AlexElliottGolf, thanks for checking out our app and featuring it on your channel. The reason for the strange readings is most likely the that the camera never saw the ball and only the club head or some other movement in the background. In order for the app to track the ball it needs to see it and with the tripod you guys were using the ball is way below the view of the camera (a mini tripod is roughly 10 cm of the ground). If you guys want to try it out again in your own time, rather place it on the ground and place a folded golf towel (this is to minimise or eliminate any possible ground vibration and we suggest always placing a towel under the device or tripod) we are confident that you will get way better readings. Also your camera is pointing down and not slightly up as it should be, the device should be rotated counterclockwise when holding it upright and then when you start tilting it back slightly the screen will turn green, this means the phone is calibrated and you can press the play button. @@AlexElliottGolf What was the outcome when you changed the camera position
On setup instructions for this system it states to “avoid background movement”. On your demo the non striker was in the camera background moving around.
I use this and find it good enough. Rick Shields also tested this app against his GC Quad with far better results than than yours.
Also the tripod is way too high. Shouldn't review something if your not going to use it right lol. It's like buying a left handed putter and using it right handed.

Great video! The paid version of the launcher monitor app is equally horrid. A friend of mine went for the paid version and absolutely hated it especially when he started flying the ball 20-30 yds over the green. Great job on educating the golfing community around the world.

You are right about accuracy kind of. Having the other guy standing beside you and the monitor too much in front of you is also throwing off your numbers just to let you know.

Great demo! You just demonstrated that the free app is usable as long as you know what the "calibration" factor is. In your demo, the difference between the app and the scope was between 20-25 mphfor bot swing speed and ball speed. If you did a sample of 100 shots, you could accurately determine the "calibration factor". And by posting that calibration factor here we would all be able to take some benefit of the free app. Maybe worth another video!?

Does the iPhone used utilize the sonar feature… can’t recall what that is called. That usually can learn a 3D space.
I also tried it and compared it to a radar based monitor it was way off

I think that you might have it setup wrong, the guys that make the app show how to and they have it about 5 inches off the floor. If you set it up higher like you have then the ball is not in shot whilst it's on the floor. You need to give it as much info as possible to even stand a chance of producing realistic numbers and the way you had it set up it would have only seen the ball in the last third of the screen.
its also supposed to be on the other side to get a clear view of the ball

Was the difference between the two monitors consistent ? Seems like it was 30 off both club and ball speed. Maybe has to be set ? Pluss I don't have an iPhone anyway
the flight scope was a lot more accurate
Did I hear you say you had it set to indoor mode setting? Why when you are outside. Could be the reason for the inaccuracy.

You can not compare this to a gc quad or a flight scope, if you are going to compare this you need to test it to a monitor that everyday people could afford... you fools cmon give these guys a shot... it’s a start.... and also your light for this app in dull England light.... I have this in Australia and it’s not spot on every time but compared to my coaching and when using a trackman it’s not that bad... lay off it fellas how bout giving these guys some props for trying to help every day people instead of mugging off people...

I am curious with this app how much difference your phone makes. Newer phones with higher frames per second capability should technically work better. I don’t think the app is great but I would be interested to see if there was any difference between phones with only 60fps vs those with 240fps or greater.
Hmm this is a good point
It might not make much difference but it’s frame rate that determines how good these things are. I think gc quad, for example, is 20,000 frames per second!
So 60 to 240 might not change much but could be the variance with some people saying they get ‘ok’ results from it. Or, maybe it is just rubbish 🤣
Nicely done fellas....key point though....use an Android and you don't even have the option for this crap! Ha! Lamkin grips are sweet - I use the n-dur that I got at a great price and installed myself - red and white combo....all in all cost me $80 Australian plus some elbow grease to re-grip 13 clubs....no way I'd pay anyone else to re-grip my clubs now....so easy to do! When's your Dad gonna make an appearance??!!

i seen that 20k monitor against G squad monitor an it wasnt nowere close the same anyway...you take everyone on market an all them have different numbers lmao so that was waiste of money buying that flight scope
