    Welcome in paradise! I live in CM since 2011, most of the time, with trips back to France; like you, I like motorbike trips all around CM , wonderful scenery...(50.000 km with my Xmax during the covid period).and we have everything here....and no crappy tourists coming for booze and girls....(and funny remarks about the smoke; of course, not pleasant, but those critisizing may smoke 2 packs a day and complaining about the pollution!) Have a good day

    I live in Samoeng and there's a really stunning road to Pai which is longer but very few cars and more fun to ride. I would recommend doing that when the rains stop because it's often raining on and off when you get up about 1000 meters this time of year.

    I’am thinking of spending sometime in Vietnam during Songkran next year. Once you experience it, not keen on being in Pattaya where I live for the last 5 years during the week it’s happening, been there done that. Also it’s the hottest time of year, very interested staying in Dalat in Vietnam, it’s situated in the mountains and is a lot cooler and a popular town! My main pastime is keeping fit, joined a few different groups playing Pickleball, Badminton and Beach Paddle, great games for us older folks, it’s a lot of fun too😊. I intend staying in Thailand, but I do recommend all the other nearby countries to visit, so much to see and experience, flights are reasonable and accommodation and food can be even cheaper, depending on where you go!

    I have lived here in Chiang Mai (a little outside of town) for over 10 years. Three tips for you:
    1. Thai food is not healthy in the long run, even if it is advertised otherwise. Cooking yourself is an advantage. As you said, you can buy everything here from all over the world.
    2. Your swollen foot: You are at an age where you deteriorate quickly without exercise. Sign up for a gym near you, do some running and weight training and you will notice how much better you feel. In any case, the deterioration will be slowed down. ;-)
    3. You should treat yourself to a medical check-up, especially a blood test, every 1-2 years. Independent doctors and some clinics always offer special offers for a limited time.

    G’day mate if I could make a suggestion for the swelling in your feet if you have a pinch of (Celtic salt) put a pinch on the back of your tongue wait for 15 seconds and chase it with a glass of water that will help the fluid absorb into your muscles better and the fluid buildup swelling I used to get elephant ankles and the Celtic salt fixed it for some reason it got worse for me when I got to Thailand

    I normally do not watch or comment on these Thailand videos, but someone such as myself whose been here in Thailand a long time (14 years), Thailand is not for everyone, especially for women more than men (might get some hate from that statement). I personally enjoy my life here, though it has some frustrating moments, it's simply a normal life. I'm not out petting elephants standing under waterfalls, and meditating with the monks. It's just a normal life with the same pro's and con's of a married life anywhere else in the world.

    I think you mean pulmonary embolus rather then oedema
    Pulmonary oedema may have been a symptom of having the blood clot
    Get ya ticker checked if your feet are swelling
    An ultrasound of your heart would be recommended

    I'm struggling to understand why you, or anyone, would choose Chiang Mai as a place to live? The place looks nice, but it is the pollution I'm thinking about.

    • @DiscoveringThailand
      @DiscoveringThailand  22 дні тому +3

      It's about 6 of the 52 weeks in a year. I experienced it the 1st time, and next year, I will probably spend a month on an island in the south. ⛱️

    Interesting to hear the ideas of a fellow non drinker motorcycle enthusiast. I'm based in Cambo but have done numerous motorcycle trips to Nth Thailand over the years. It's always in the back of my mind to relocate there at some stage, with a month or two spent in say Dalat Vietnam to avoid Songkran, pollution, and heat.
