I have a 36" Grandstand and love it but it is not good as a walk behind. That was part of the reason I bought one. The dealer sold me on the walk behind feature which is only really worthwhile when loading/unloading, taking up less trailer space and going under trees... walking behind is absolutely not good on slopes, better to stand on it. Also, I can't see mowing with it at 8.5 mph. Good for feeling the breeze riding down the street but not good for even near perfect mowing conditions. If you're going up hills a weight kit is also essential because it tends to pop wheelies.
His explanation of the advantages of the weight of the mower on the rear tires and the distance between tires left me confused and lost if I had not known previously what the advantages are.
I really haven't noticed it taking longer with the toro because it zips around really good and has a ton of power. The only advantage I have with the zero turn Husqvarna is it has a large bagging system. Im trying to get away from bagging. Any slopes Ill take the Toro any day. I got the 36 so I could get in through gates.
The only reason we dont buy toro is because we have hear so much about there customer service. Toro has very bad customer service they dont even try to call back the customer when they have trouble so that will cost toro sales.
This is something for your dealer to do for you. I dont see too many companies will babysit customers directly. Not in my 26 years have I seen it anyway.
But I heard him say the engine has a 2-year warranty I have a five year warranty on the machine my dealer do cut sells Toro and I got a 3-year warranty on the engine ra5 your 1200 hour warranty on the machine
I've had a grandstand for 6 years, it's fast, safe and easy on my back. I need help with an issue. The Grandstand has a vented hydraulic cap. After the hydraulic fluid gets hot, 15-20 minutes, it runs out through the vented cap when I'm mowing hilly areas. Fluid is not overfilled, cap has been replaced 3 times. Can I replace the reservoir with a larger tank? What could happen If I put a non vented cap on it? If it had about a 3 inch neck extension, I think it would fix this issue. Toro is no help, can't find a dealer that can fix it.
You can't use a non-ventilated cap. It would build pressure and burst the tank. If you know a good welder, you can have him make an aluminum tank. that would do two things; 1. give more room for expansion without leaking and 2. act as a cooler for the fluid.
I have the same issue with the fuel tank. The neck is to low and short. You can only fill it 3/4 full. Also the deck belt release is a joke. Everything else is great though.

Having great dealer support makes me love Toro

yes I agree, the grandstand is a great mower, I got the 36 in. I hardly use my 48 in. zero turn mower any more.
mowguy fudd You lost a foot of cutting capacity, do you notice any real time loss by stepping down to a smaller deck size?

mowguy fudd Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like the 36" is more versatile than a zero turn in most cases.
