I honestly thought that it was Michael Caine teaching a real class for the first few seconds or so before I figured out it was all a joke. I was looking for a clip on youtube where Michael Caine teaches a class of film acting and when I selected this clip I thought I found it. I was pleasantly surprised when the clip turned more and more hilarious.
Excellent impersonation. Nearly faultless, actually. But also a demonstration of how very few people are born with that elusive star quality that can never be replicated. The pure magnetism and charisma of Michael Caine's facial features, the electricity in his voice, his suave mannerisms, that keep the audience staring at him over anything else that's going on, on and off screen. This guy here though, although technically brilliant, has seemingly nothing behind his cold, blank stare. His facial language also remains nearly still. He couldn't pick up the intuitive Michael's micro gestures that make him so attractive and relatable. That's something you need to be born with.

This is hilarious and brilliant, when I first saw it, I said Michael is young there, then had me in stitches, I am sure the real Michael would like this, I wonder if he has seen it, lol
And just think. The "asian acting student" in the class is Benedict Wong aka of Doctor Strange, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame, Annihilation, The Martian, Prometheus, etc. He acted on four episodes of The Peter Serafinowicz Show ;)
I seem to remember a different part to this scene - where Mr. Caine teaches a way of remembering one's lines by counting to nine in the same rhythm. Maybe it was one of the other masterclasses? Maybe I'm imagining things...?
Good to see Benedict Wong when he was a young pup. He's a British institution - honour required in his direction, your majesty.
I was just wondering if that was Benedict Wong.
You’re not Wong.

I love Bob Hoskins double take as he walks off.
Just watched Michael Cain master class the other day, this is so damn funny
The wossname.
How can this just be forgotten its brilliant stuff
Why does this not have more views? This is brilliant!
I don't know why the last minute makes me piss myself so much
Its just incredibly silly. The guy just happens to have a pack of saussages
Probably something to do with the lenses or something
This is weirdly relaxing
More Petafinowicz! Someone give him a new show please!
Okay, Peter is awesome at impressions, but the guy doing Hoskins is the most awesomest! Who was that?
isn't that Benedict Wong from Prometheus and Doctor Strange?
Yes
Wasn't he in It Crowd too?
Dirty Pretty Things and 15 Storeys High too.
Thank God. I wanted to ask but dint wanna look the racist
Yes, Britain only has one oriental-looking actor.
the voices are incredible
The part about the cigars had me in tears!

It's Michael Caine's aesthetics with Sean Lock's cadence. I never realised how similar the two voices are until I saw this clip.

His wardrobe is spot-on.

He's a bit like Del from Wayne's World 2.
"But the shopkeeper an his son were a different story. We had to beat them to death with their own shoes..."
Webbula haha brilliant! You forgot about the brown M&M's though...
I have to also ask whether Ozzy went on stage?
Looking forward to this coming out on DVD! May I ask when it might be purchased on Laserdisc? Ask Jeeves doesn't appear to know.

Young Wong
