  • The Sea of Marmara is a connected inland sea located entirely within the borders of Turkey. It is located between the Black Sea to the north and the Aegean Sea to the south. The sea is connected to the Aegean Sea through the Dardanelles Strait and to the Black Sea through the Bosphorus Strait.
The Sea of Marmara has great historical and strategic importance due to its location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. It has served as a major trade route throughout history and has been a significant center of maritime trade and commerce.
The sea is relatively small compared to the neighboring Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. It covers an area of about 11,350 square kilometers (4,380 square miles) and has an average depth of around 200 meters (660 feet).
Several major cities are located on the shores of the Sea of Marmara, including Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey and a significant cultural and economic hub. Other notable cities along the sea include Izmit, Bursa, and Tekirdağ.
