Terrific show!! Having a historian describe an action whilst a camera shows us the EXACT spot where the action took place will just never get old for me! Superb job interpreting these actions by Edwin and I would hasten to add that we had the pleasure of being on a 75tth anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge tour this past December with Edwin as our guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable about those actions as well. I look forward to seeing Edwin and Jo again in future episodes from the Netherlands.

I am only seeing this today as I was at a function yesterday honouring the last living Irishman to fight in Arnhem, Sam Kendrick of 1 Para.
Anyway, this was a great show, learned a lot and 100% concurrence with Paul. Edwin Popken is a fantastic narrator.

Edwin and his team ae absolutely brilliant in their interpretation of this vital phase of the battle. I am amazed that it takes the efforts of some Dutch WWII enthusiasts to counter all of the previous pro British or pro American viewpoints and myths surrounding this battle. The one truth uncovered here is that it was the actions of the Germans that really dictated the outcome. The real failure of the plan was the overconfidence of the intelligence estimates long before the operation began. It is time to put aside all the blame and recriminations placed upon the soldiers fighting this battle. The fact that the Allies and the Germans accomplished what they did is testimony of the initiative and élan of the men who fought one another. I think that the Allied high command deserves most of the "blame" here. Let us give the German army due credit as well. Tremendously well done WW2TV and Team!!!

Very familiar country, but great show again. There was a lot of action in the South of the Netherlands in oktober 1944, so I hope to see many more shows coming from here. 👍

The 18-hour closure at Son of Hell's Highway reminded me of Napoleon in the Marengo Campaign when a courier from a General asking him for more time to redeploy his troops Napoleon's response was: "Ask me for gold, guns, or men I have enough of them to spare, do not ask me for time because I have none to give." Meanwhile the 1st Airborne was waiting in Arnhem.

Brilliant content, well researched and informative! More work needs to be done to highlight the bitter fighting all along 'Club Route'..... Market Garden is so much more than Arnhem/Oosterbeek and Nijmegen.

Really brilliant stuff. It is so important that the details in this part of the overall operation are more widely known so that the correct inferences and lessons can be learned.

This is brilliant! The strategic overview at the end is poignant at how desperate all the action in all three airborne sectors were. Also, it is why these veteran Nazi units fought so hard: it's because they could smell blood.

You might mention that the tank action and Diehl’s death at Son bridge were described in the book “The Road to Arnhem: a Screaming Eagle in Holland” by author and eyewitness Don Burgett of A/506th.

Where did the Germans cross the Dommel during the night? I assume they forded it as I can't see any bridges.
