Thank you for the most precise and CORRECT video on UA-cam! Most of the others show the incorrect bolt for the tensioner and/or are extremely oily and dirty This video actually shows the correct method or the m272. No hate towards the FCP Euro vids, they just happen to show the m112/113. Again, all the other videos I’ve watched have confused the heck out of me that I’d to have to have my car towed to my house to properly fix it and after watching this it made it extremely easy! Keep up the clear and concise videos and info! I’m in no way a stranger to shade tree/diy mechanics and this help immensely. 👍🏼
I recently replaced the serpentine belt on my 2008 r280 cdi. I had to remove two bolts connected to a brace supporting a pipe running across it. The brace had torq bolts and I only had sockets. It took 2 hrs in the dark to replace the belt but I did it and my car sounds good now.
Thank you a lot , really helpful video. But i have broken/missing Part. which is the first thing you put the belt on when reinstalling it. what its called its missing the black thing on it.
Likely the tensioner or idler pulley has a bad bearing (wiggles when you try to move it) or the pulley is no longer flat. They often gain a taper which makes it like a cone.
General rule of thumb is the belt should not be able to be twisted past 90° when tensioned. Otherwise the belt or tensioner is likely worn out or not right enough
Hello. Could you please guide me to a video that will show me how to replace the power steering pump on my m272 engine? It's in my 2007 c230 2.5l V6. Please and thank you!
Nice video. Can’t be sure. Does this car’s engine have a vibration damper right next to the tensioner? Have had an issue with my car in the recent past. Belts keep on shredding on one side and eventually get cut. (Must be some misaligned pulley)
The tensioner tend to break either at the plastic pulley or from the bearing failing (which causes it to tilt slightly) the idler pulley usually gets tapered. So it’s more of a cone shape. Usually best to replace both at the same time if you can swing it
my belt doesn’t squeak, but one of the pulley do, how do i determine which one? 2010 mercedes w204 m272 c300 , i spray wd40 on the belt and the squkeay will increase with the rpm , is that the common issue with that pulley?
Usually best to use a long stethoscope or screw driver and put it on a non moving part of the engine to determine the source. The idea is that if you put your ear to the end of the screw driver or stethoscope, you’ll be able to hear which one is loudest. *be very careful and do this at your own risk, as it is dangerous to work around an engine that is running!*
Hi, Please watch my 2012 ML350. Do you think the noise is because of idler pulley? This comes only during cold starts (only first start in the morning and not later starts). Moreover it does not come in the summer or warm weather. I just replaced the PCV valve and intake gaskets due to P2279 error. This noise was there even before replacement but till date has never been an issue. I also changed serpentine belt an year back. Please tell me what you think after watching the video - ua-cam.com/video/i22xJQbI8sM/v-deo.html
I have not heard a bell seal on the M276 engine before but that does sound like it. Sometimes mechanics turn the car on for a few moments with the belt taken off to eliminate the pulleys as a possible cause of the noise

Thank you! I’m glad it helped and quality is at least up to par! Will definitely try to keep things this way.
best...video...ever.
The rest only "talked" about the little hole under the tensioner but YOU showed it!!! And showed how it goes!!! THANKS!!!!!

Excellent video ! Nice and clear and great camera angles. Thanks for posting !
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
😅
Nice one even years later. What is the size of the belt?
Not sure size, just ordered whatever they recommended for the year make and model on AutohausAZ
did u use a 6pk2400 belt
Do the pulleys have a tightening guide mark?
Thank you a lot , really helpful video. But i have broken/missing Part. which is the first thing you put the belt on when reinstalling it. what its called its missing the black thing on it.
Did you ever figure that out
What size is the bolt on the idler pulley?
Should the tensioner move slightly when it's installed?
My tensioner has a shock attached...will it run without the shock?
Replaced belt and seems tight all lined up then I drive 15 minutes down the road and my belt is shredded again could use some advice what could it be

is it necessary to replace both the pulleys? upper and lower??
Only if they’re broken, loose or tapered. I do it as preventative maintenance as they have a high failure rate
More content with engine pylleys please!
I have some play in the belt after installing a new tensioner about an inch is this normal or should the belt be replaced
General rule of thumb is the belt should not be able to be twisted past 90° when tensioned. Otherwise the belt or tensioner is likely worn out or not right enough

Great video
Thank you! Truly appreciate it! 👍
Legend 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Is this engine the m272, also in the 2008 w204 c350? Anyone know ?
Yes, same engine.
Nice video.

Thank you! Very helpful! I own a C230 avangarde sport edition with m272 engine
Hey mate, what socket did you use to remove the pulley? Thanks
Universal socket. But I believe it’s an E10 or E12
Hey do you know the torque for them?
I don’t off the top of my head, but it shouldn’t be more than like 30-40 nm

Good job bro
Gud job where can i get this perfet mechanic😂
VERY NICE,PERFECT
I done a few of these belts extremely simple job, I would prefer videos a bit more advanced
I hear ya, I like to do basic maintenance for those less advanced. But my next video will be more involved work, just for you 👍
@@MercedesTech appreciate video and filming top class can't fault it
Just to make sure the upper pulley ( the very small pulley on top) goes bad too, but thanks anyway, the video was good.

Myne just snapped and the top pulley won't move....going to replace it...what's the top pulley called to buy solo
The two top ones are idler pulleys. One is ribbed the other is smooth. Also different diameters. Autohausaz.com is a great option!
