OMG! This is the best ever explanation of this stupid thermostat. I think I could install one now and I am a 70 year old grandma. I love you. My son just had a complete HVAC system ($$$$$$$$) put in his house with this EXACT Honeywell Thermostat. My son works morning, noon and night so I told him I would go over to his house to chill and turn on that new AC system for the very first time. (I am retired so I have nothing to do all day long.). It was 95 Degrees in the house and I could not get the system to turn on. I went on line and printed out the manual which I could not understand. Praise the lord your channel popped up on my feed this morning. I watched the whole video. I am a new subscriber. Bless you. Bless you. Bless you.
Thank you I'm here in Texas and doing this time February we always have a snowstorm and I had touched my thermostat and messed up the settings but because of your very detailed instructions I was able to get the heater back working plus save some money I didn't have to call the heating service to come out and fix it so again I want to say thank you so much
Two thumbs up! A+ Thank you so much for your wonderfully detailed video!...thanks to you, installation and operation was a snap! Please post more! Thanks again
Does this thermostat display when auxiliary heat is on? I have a Goodman 1cool/2heat heat pump. I can see when emergency heat is on because I have to manually turn it on, but I never see auxiliary or aux displayed.
Great video! Thank you! Especially for the reset to removing the scheduling feature. My problem is my thermostat won’t stop running when the room reaches the set temperature, even though the Fan is set to Auto. How do I fix that?! Because my heating bills keep going through the roof!
Nice vid. I have a typical forced hot air system with an outside air conditioner compressor all using the same vents for heating and cooling. Do I keep the blue tab on the right in the up position?
R/RH toggle should only be touched if you have a separate heat source independent of the AC system a boiler or electric duct heater to name a few,, R is ac or cooling system controls power and RH is heating system controls power
Good job my friend, but im still confuse on my thermostat, can you help me a little, all my wirings are total of 5 and its blue, white, red, green, yellow and my new non programmable thermostat is c,o,b,w/e,w2,rh,rc,g,y,y2.i really dont know where to hook them up and i dont know how to read the instruction.thank you very much
Why does my old slide style mercury stat control my heat/cool just fine. But when I switch to t4 stat the fan runs all the time. (And yes it’s on auto).
i had the temperature on 70 and the temperature in the house is 79. I cant get it any cooler. I thought maybe I would move the temperature to 67 so the temperature in the house went up zoomed to 80. The mode is cool and we have it on hold. can you help
Is the only difference with a heat pump the location of the white wire? I am attempting to replace an old carrier thermostat which has six wires. The additional wire is orange; do I need it? FYI, my C wire for the original thermostat is also brown.
@@D2DNYAC Thanks for the response. I wired the white to the O/B and left the orange off; programmed for heat pump and the heat wouldn't shut off. Also, the cool would never start. So I just have no idea.
I’ve been trying to install the Honeywell T5 Programmable Thermostat for my house I have an extra grey wire that I don’t know where to put. The wires are Green (G) Red (R) Orange (Y) White (W) and the extra grey. Can you teach me Where exactly do I put it?
Why my Honeywell pro series thermostat is not turning on temperature 72° or 71° on heater it takes ever to turn on another thing is not reading temperature what happening I think it is the ac furnace is it Frozen or the furnace we had it for 30 years they not change it at all it happens again
Temporary hold means if you increase or decrease temperature set point it will revert back to schedule temperature setting after a pre determined time period, permanent hold means any temperature setting changes will be held indefinitely or until you remove or change it !!!
@@Just-RegularGuysounds like you need to get into the setup settings. Pressing the center button and the + button at the same time gets you in. Press select till you get to 218 and press the plus (+) or the minus (-) to change the reversing valve. If it’s a 0 you need a 1, if it’s 1 you need a 0.
I try to install the Honeywell RTH8500 series programmable thermostat in my apartment unit. The existing wiring is Red (R), Yellow(Y), Black(W) & Grey(G). Am I having the correct terminals? Thx.
Looks like you have the necessary wires for 1 heat and 1 cool!! If you match the new thermostat with the old thermostat terminals you are good to go.. the colors on each terminals may vary based on availability or person that did the initial installation.
@@D2DNYAC Ok, thanks for the response! Keep up the awesome videos! One thing I'd like to see is a installation video of a RTH6580WF1001/W1 on your HVAC demo board out in your garage, maybe testing it with the RedLINK web portal too. Thanks!
I set mine up today but no hot air seems to be flowing out of my vents. I can hear it turn on but it turns off after a minute. Any idea of what this issue is?
If you are using the batteries yes, and if you select cool stages only in setup then heat mode will not be available, go back in not the setup menu and fix this
Does the thermostat turn off and on by itself once it hits the temperature you set. I set mine to 71 for cool but the AC won’t turn off once it get to that temperature
@D2DNYAC I have an old honeywell t0809a and on the wiring configuration there a blue and black goin to two different c terminal on that old honey well... on the t4 is there an extra common.... I'm doin heat only

Emergency heat is another mode auxiliary heat is another stage of heat oftentimes electric that compliments the heat pump

My T4 pro (same model) has a white label on the back and didn’t come with the decorative wall plate 😢

Sounds to me like that wire isn't being used I would leave it off especially if you are diy
Hi there, I took off my old theomestat yesterday, there is a black wire but it connects to a spot showing W2 instead of C, would you know why?
Because in your case the black wire is used for second stage heat or w2 and so it cannot be used on the C terminal
Why my Honeywell pro series thermostat is not turning on temperature 72° or 71° on heater it takes ever to turn on another thing is not reading temperature what happening I think it is the ac furnace is it Frozen or the furnace we had it for 30 years they not change it at all it happens again
Possibly
You didn’t mention using the Temporary Hold setting nor the Permanent Hold setting..

I have an electric heater so I chose 4 for 205. But when using cooling mode, it starts heating, no cool air, what do you think went wrong?
If you have a heat pump then reversing valve configuration in setup is wrong if No then re check your wiring!

I set mine up today but no hot air seems to be flowing out of my vents. I can hear it turn on but it turns off after a minute. Any idea of what this issue is?
Are we talking heating or cooling?
If in the case of heating place fan to on then check for air from vents, if air flows then it’s problem with heat source, if no recheck thermostat
My black wire is not connected is that ok?? And I got no heat option on the Honeywell thermostat.
If you are using the batteries yes, and if you select cool stages only in setup then heat mode will not be available, go back in not the setup menu and fix this
