I have been watching you since you were mango island mama and had like 20k subscribers. You’re the only UA-camr I’ve kept up with and actually watch your entire videos wo skipping. You’re an amazing contribution to this planet and I have so much respect for you. I am visiting Maui rn for 2 weeks and was just telling my bf about you and how if I had wanted kids, you are the example of how I would have wanted to live. Thank you for your gentle parenting, kindness to the animals, and deep respect for Mother Nature and our planet. I am glad comments finally opened so I could express my gratitude for you🙏🏼❤️✨

A tip from a fellow gardener, plant mint separately in a large pot a hit further away from your main garden bed because in my case it grows so easy and everyday there are new spores and it's overtaking the garden completely 🤣

@@annazolotareva2368 Not obvious. But thanks for clarifying. She probably should refer to her new growth as suckers or shoots, rather than sprouts or 'spores'. Unless she's having trouble with seedlings from not dead-heading last year's blooms and those are the pernicious 'everyday sprouts'.

Ellen this video was one of my favorites I loved seeing you and Andrew prep for food you make from scratch! I also just wanted to point out when you made the banana bread and told your kids “take however much you want “ just tugged at my heart. That’s something as a kid I never heard , it was always “just a little” , the size of your fist only, no seconds.. which lead me at a very young age to have binge eating disorder and still as an adult struggle with it. So just hearing you say those words to your kids yet was so simple and you probably say that all the time when making meals but I took it as just such a loving place from a Mother 🤍🥺✨

Deer do not like garlic and cayane pepper. You can make a spray, and spray it around your garden. You could also plant garlic. Anything that has a strong scent that isn't sweet. Deer have a much higher sense of smell then we do and they like that sweet earthy smells. You can also make a topper for your garden bed. I made one using old window screens. Allows the light and water to come in, but the deer and other creatures can not get in.

They have two caps in the top so we opened one up on top and put them behind our house and he ran our gutters into them to catch our water. Then put a spickett at bottom to have a hose and water our plants. Also we made a moveable composter because of rhubarb leaves being poisonous you shouldn’t put them with other compost. Have you ever used the glass weights off Amazon for making sauerkraut? Keeps the liquid above the veg. Just some suggestions or ideas. You guys are doing amazing!!

Hello Ellen, your videos are awesome. Thanks for sharing! 🤩 Small tip I can share with you as a vegan Italian Chef: start making the broth from cold water. The meaning of making broth would be that of letting vegetables slowly release their substances into the water and this is possible of you add them in the pot when water is still cold.

Suggestion. Maybe have a separate dedicated planter for mint. They grow well and may take over other plants.

Chicken wire hoop to cover new plants so the deer can get them? Doesn’t prevent sun getting in etc . Maybe? I’m brainstorming. Idk what you have available 😅

May be an odd question, but from your small water spigot in the kitchen…is that a reverse osmosis system? Does the spigot allow for hot or cold water?
FYI…our neighbor hangs bars of Irish Spring soap to keep the bugs and deer away from their garden. Some people even shred it and lay it around their gardens.

I wondered the same thing! When they traveled they had a small reverse osmosis system with them so I assume they got the big one at home now. I also noticed the big blue plastic water container is gone 😊
