@@fabiopisati5637 At our country place, there is an Oak tree that is beside our barn that was a sapling when we bought the property. That was almost 180 years ago. It is now roughly 4 feet across! I have seen it grow over the years from very early photographs. I always give it a hug when I’m there!
I had planted some hazelnut trees about 5 years ago in my yard. They're finally starting to produce nuts. They're yummy. But those pesky squirrels sometimes get to many of them before me! A few days ago right outside my front door, I noticed a "weed" growing among my volunteer snapdragons. After pulling it, I noticed that it was no weed at all but it was a walnut tree!! I transplanted it into a large pot and will baby it for a year or so before planting it somewhere in my yard. I feel bad now about getting angry at the squirrels since I know it was them that brought me that walnut! They basically paid me in spades for taking some of my hazelnuts!
It always impresses me just how much time and effort these very very long term time lapses take. I find it very fascinating and yet I wallow in my own laziness and it seems quite hard to break my own cycle. But I guess I should be just like this seed, get and get growing instead of sitting and watching the world pass me by. Thank you box lapse, for all the effort you put into your videos and somehow still giving us a small glimpse into the beauty of life itself.
It's hard to grow if you don't have the adequate resources - light, water, proper environment, and such. Grow, but when you feel ready and have a chance to thrive.
North American, and trees native to cold environments, have to stratify for 30-90 days. Basically they have to stay moist, dark, and cold as shit - like below 40 degrees - for an entire winter season before they can even start to pop open and drop a root, this is what he did in the beginning with the 40 days. Be like this acorn, take a winter or 90 days of cold and calm and use it to think and plan, then crack open your shell and slowly grow out from there, taking advantage of your long planning period before hand
Lovely to see an oak! I love planting them from seeds in my garden and have 3 or 4 over 3 years old now same with a maple picked up as a seedling on my way back to college. Something about seeing things grow that will outlive you makes you feel like an achieved parent in a way. I encourage anyone to grow a tree, its free.
@@complexthoughts2621 There should be lots and lots around September, and into October. Look around the bottoms of your local oak trees -- there should be loads of them. I'm not sure if they're common where you live, but there should be quite a few in the parks if they are.
That's what I love about nature, everything is free. She doesn't charge us for the air we breathe. But there is something almost magical about watching things grow, especially young tender plants.

I've always wanted to grow my own oak, now I know where to start 😀 The fascinating thing is that several main branches grow from one acorn. Great video!
I found this video after researching how an oak grows, because I found one on my dogs grave. My dog George passed away last February due to old age at 15. He was a Black Lab / Pitbull and ended up with hip problems and seizures which led to his demise. I buried him in April in my back yard in Maine and gave him a large redish marble slab lying flat on his grave mound, as his stone. I walked over to his grave yesterday and saw an acorn wedged half under his stone with a few inch high oak tree sprouting from it. Half of the acorn was in dirt with the other half exposed and clearly showing the shoot protruding from the shell. I'm a Norse Pagan and the oak tree signifies life, death, and rebirth, so it was very fitting when I discovered this. I plan to let it grow and overtake his stone eventually in the roots, for a badass look that I know George would appreciate. Thanks for the video!!
I have a small woodland of Oak trees which drop thousands of acorns. After watching this 2 months ago I decided to grow some saplings for friends and family. I’ve had 5/5 success all potted and sprouting 👌🏼 Thanks
Because of photosyntesis, plants literally feed when breathing They extract the carbon from C02 leaving O2(oxygen) behind, that carbon is the main component of both wood and leaves
We have a ton of them growing around our house outside from squirrels burying then. It's really interesting to see the roots sprout in that jar, and that little first shoot grow.
A- Mother Nature must LOVE you! 😂🤣😂🤣😍😍😍 B- I'm mesmerized by how thirsty that seedling is! C-It was so cool that it had given birth to a new tree after you transferred it to a pot. Thank you for all you do!
This is one of my favourites so far. 🌱💜 You make it look so easy to grow these plants, but there’s so much that goes into it. All your time and dedication is very appreciated!
I have a number of acorns in the cold right now so looking forward to this process taking place. You have made this process of science into art as well.
Thank you for this video. I will be using it in my bible study group to show how words, thoughts and ideas grow inside of us. They start as a seed - never despise the small beginnings.
What is it about this kind of music that transports me back to my earliest childhood memories? It’s just so dreamlike, like I can imagine my mother who passed away when I was 7 is with me
When I was a kid I brought home some acorns from an oak tree at my school and we planted a couple of them in the garden. They grew into small saplings like these with the distinctive leaf shape, but sadly didn't have enough room to become a full fledged oak tree.
Thank you for using that glass jar. I want mine to turn into a tree, and watch, before the squirrels dig it out of the ground as they did last year on 5 trees!
I didn't need to see this video, I'm constantly pulling up Willow Oak acorns that are sprouting all over my flower beds every year. I've seen all the stages!
I have a beautiful little Oak that's about 13 years old that I grew from an acorn. It's in a massive pot growing over the body of my dog I had for 17 years. One day I hope to find a special place to put them both in the ground. My dog died 8 years ago. I still miss her.
mesmerizing as always I do hope to see this little acorn again in some years but seeing how trees are generally not great indoor plants it might not fit your current style.
Planted an acorn in a little pot to see what would happen and forgot about it. About 60 days later it sprouted, and shot up for 10-20 days, then paused. I was a bit concerned why it was not shooting up any more so I looked up this video, and it does exactly the same thing. I expected after a year it would be about as tall as me, but apparently not!
I filled in a raised flower bed surrounding a tree with few hundred pounds of acorns so the squirrels could easily get to them throughout the winter now I have hundreds of trees coming up in there.
I was today-years-old when I found out there was an acorn-growing-jar and it was called an "Acorn Vase." Beautiful video, as always. I'm off to google vases. :)
Oak trees are on another level. One acorn can grow into a massive tree, that tree then produces hundreds or even thousands of acorns. And the cycle repeats.
wow beautiful. this has so much potential to grow into a massive oak tree. i hope u planted it out in the open safe somewhere to grow for many years to come~~ 😍🤗
I feel like i've just seen the first three seconds of Crocodile Dundee. Call me when you get to the "That's not an oak tree! THIS is an oak tree!" bit.
Would love to see a birch timelapse. After germination they start of pretty slow, but after 1-2 months, they grow blazing fast. I'm talking abot a centimeter per day. The seeds are ready to harvest in late summer. Some seeds don't even need cold stratification, at least silver birches don't. I am speaking from experience, I have a silver birch that self seeded and germinated in late summer. But I'm surprised about that oak tree growth! I thought that they grow more slowly,

From the info box: The main stem got stuck that's why it sprouted two new ones instead
You'd wanna cut all but one if you want it to grow big
This is white oak branch of oak family. Notice the smooth lobes.
They make beautiful bonsai trees.
unless you want bonsai, plant in a very deep pot in the fall, or, better yet, in the ground

I've heard transplanting oak trees is difficult and often fails. Would like to see how it's going after a few months if possible. Very cool TL!
It’s easy if grown in a container. The difficulty comes with replanting wild seedlings; as it’s easy to break the taproot when digging them up.
