He is CRIMINALLY underrated.
Absolutely agree
Hidden genius, indeed!
I only just heard about him today! He’s up there with the best.
Right!!
This bit was my first clue maybe Chapelle wasn't the only subtle sage out there.
This man is way funnier than the response he's getting from the crowd
Not really.
Not his best work, he’s better at story telling
canadians lol
He was funny and inspiring.
Very much so.
"That's me in the picture right there"😂😂😂
Zenobia Russell I was waiting on that punch line I had no idea it would be this hilarious 😂😂😂
I’d DEFINITELY give it to him 😂😂😂
Roy Wood Jr has such a fantastic story telling method. I love how his bookend his anecdotes. He starts off one joke, veers completely off onto something else, then ultimately ends the joke by referring to the first joke he started with. It really improves the joke as a whole.
Had a Geology professor who used the same structure for a whole semester; man regularly got standing ovations.
"Thats me on the picture right there, ima go take my lunch break"
I can't believe I actually laughed at that "im 92 years old" bit
I busted out laughing!!!!
it hurt more when i realized im older than him.
That let me know that Roy Wood, Jr. could read a telephone book and still be funny.
@Aristides Gonzalez yes....a lot of Black folks be 60 and up and still look like they're in their late 30's, or the joke could be, that he looks older but really is 37 years young
he is tho, have you seen him on Inside Jokes? he looks waaaaay older than 37 there
Wiz Kale Leafa.
Nice
😂🤣😂
Caleb Clunie 🏆🏆
I just choked! #😂
👍👍😂😂
Travis Scott raps about Jamba Juice lol
💋
lol i was just gonna say...
Haha i was looking for this comment
Ravenkiko Jamba Juice good as hell tho...
marcus vassel nah nasty go to s Mexican juicer place real fruit drinks
You was datin' in the sixties you couldn't eat nowhere in public
I felt bad for laughing because that's a fucked up feeling. But that shit was hilarious
@@juicymiss87 It's fucked up because it's one black dude saying it to another about a fucked up situation, but the guilt subsequently makes it even funnier.
@jack bone
Bullshit, there are tons of all-inclusive businesses and black-owned businesses now.
@@brooklyna007 like Starbucks
I'm dead 💀💀💀💀💀
Roy, thank you brother. The Black comedian has always been able to turn shared pain into laughter. You are one of the Greats, (I look forward to seeing your exhibit in the Black History Museum).
The way this guy incorporates social commentary into his comedy is brilliant. The Hot Meal joke was gold, and I've seen him do this kind of stuff on multiple occasions.
During the past Thanksgiving break, I ended up touring Natchez MS, and found a African American Museum. The guide looks like one of the band members of ZZ Top. Very knowledgeable, and happy with all questions that we asked.
They have one in Jackson, too.
I'm going to call it right now, Roy is about 2 years away from dropping a killer comedy special that will propel him into the upper echelon of modern comedians (the Burr's, Segura's, Chapelle's). His topics are so advanced and his timing is so crisp, all he needs is a concise hour to put him on center stage. It's going to happen, and in ten years we will be counting him among the greatest to ever do it. This man is about to pop off. Mark my words.
...marked and I got nothing but support for your vision - he's a BEAST! 🔥🔥🔥
You called it! Holy shit! Wow! Omigod! Turdy McGurdy is a Shirley Birley! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
You did in fact call it
I did not in fact know about him until his special lmfao
Don't think it's happened yet, but it needs to. After getting recommended one of his sets on UA-cam last week I've been binge watching his clips. Dude is incredibly funny. He's already joined my pantheon of best comedians if that counts for anything.
I bought Kale today and stood and looked at it a couple seconds thinking why is this more than a gallon of gas
😆😭
Because kale has been gentrified lol.
🤣🤣🤣
Lol
White washed USA yoga culture
And he brought the joke home with the "Welcome to the Black History musuem." Expert y'all 😂😂😂
JC Swizzy l Love a good circle back joke lol 😆
Thank you Roy wood jr for making America laugh again.
Oh, yea, because this was filmed in 2016.
"....a society in which people think that is the only option. That means that the system is broken." Smart man Roy!!
"@ what temperature so you deep fry catfish" 😂😂😹😂🐸
Frog
Jadakiss and The Lox own an organics smoothy franchise in New York hahaha
Yep
Styles p juice bar in the Bronx
I believe around the corner from me. Loool
Clownish-Gambino now that’s gangsta lol
Is it expensive?
"desegregation in chipotle" 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
"and"
Did not see that punch line coming. Roy is pure comedy gold not to mention a superb social commentator.
Maybe it's just cuz i love when jokes come full circle, but that ending was slept on.
So well set up
His comedy is genius. When most comedians reuse punch lines from before you typically see it coming. But his jokes are made so great that u never realize he is gonna bring it back to an earlier joke
How many jokes did he just close with that one punchline? This guy's a mad genius.
"am 92 years old"?.Had me laughing even before he started.
Good to see Roy still doing this well 8 years after seeing him at a university. Killed it then, still on a roll into 2019 🙂👌
I've been listening to Roy since 2010 when his prank calls were a great joy in a crappy year. He deserves every bit of success he's had since then, and he still finds ways to inject profundity into comedy.
Wow that was a refreshing set to listen to. Kind of just clean, thought-provoking humor. Nice!
Roy Wood Jr isn't clean lol
@@fangfuckthegreat6876 Yeah did people miss the part about the rap song?
@@fangfuckthegreat6876 He cursed - yes, but his comedy isn't raunchy. I think that's what the OP meant.
@@TheGerm24 It's at least way wholesome compared to say, Bill Burr's. Big difference I know, but that's what we mean.
atomic.universe raunchy as in sex jokes? Slavery and tortur is all right byt sex jokes is where we draw the line 🙄
He brought that last joke around beautifully
I love how stand up comedians look 10 steps ahead.😂
You're hired
That, my friends, is an excellent example of using two jokes to set up a great punchline to end a set
I think every stand up special I have seen him in he has done a callback to an earlier joke. I love it!
Roy Woods Jr reminds me of your funny favorite uncle that you see only twice a year but hes like a dad when you're there because your real dad is gone and your stepdad is good enough.
Trevors show made me pay attention to this gentleman
The way he ties it all together. Dude is dope!!
I did not expect to laugh that hard within the first 15 sec 😂
OMG the bit about rapping about smoothies and kale was killin' me. That's where the money goes. Truth!
This man looks like MLK and Martin Lawrence had a baby.
😂
This is the best stand up set he’s done! Really well put together , as you’d expect from a Daily Show correspondent
You should also look at his set on Conan with the Civil War letter part.
Got real serious toward the end there. Reminded me of a Chapelle stand up moment.
That joke about rappers and kale tho...
vote to change the Farm Bill. Healthy food *shouldn't* be more expensive...and we should, and can, subsidize kale instead of corn.
Do you have any fucking clue what your talking about? Have you ever seen farm land? Or studied Ag
the hell! farmer welfare? heck naw homie. How bout this: farmers grow it and charge what it cost to grow plus a little extra for their pocket. If you're poor and it costs too much don't buy it. There are over 20,000 edible vegetables on earth, if you're too poor for kale (which isn't expensive btw) there are 19,999 other vegetables you can both grow yourself instead of buy and eat, even apartment people. Y'all just trying to tax me to high heaven to give out money like it grows on trees. Stop trying to take my money and give it farmers.
Visit agricultural areas and rethink
@@fangfuckthegreat6876 Like hog farms in North Carolina that pollute the water and air so much that residents in the area get sick? Subsidize farmers my behind
@@louisgraham9959 if anything they would push regulations to to elevate the responsibilities and upkeep of those farmlands on a nationwide level
This guy is good. I laughed all the way through. Thank you.
That was masterful. That man got up on that stage, and he did an entire show about race relations _without making anyone uncomfortable_ . Now that takes comedic skill, right there. Give that man his own damn 1-hour special, because that level of talent is _rare_ .
Hes got 3
All three are posted free full length on youtube, enjoy
This was brilliant
That was one of his best sets so far!
I love a comedy routine that comes full circle. ❤️
He is so talented ❤️
This guy always has some great setups
This man's sets are iconic. He educates AND is freaking hilarious. This audience was whack
Mad respect for Roy Wood, Jr. AND for the people blocking the freeway. Yes, that's what it's come to. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
"theres alot of racial tension in this world man, and and and and it disapoints me that we live in these time you know" instant like for him man
underrated
Do not watch this video while you’re eating. I damn near choked to death. And there’s no one here to give me the Heimlich maneuver.
He is simply amazing.
Roy always gets you at the end...
This man here is a natural
He doesn't need to act all extra to be funny
Just talking the way he does, making points here and there, and he is as funny as one can get
I actually DO work at a black history museum...when white people are on my tour I do crank it up a notch on the ways they tortured us! Lol...but afterwoods they always approach me and thank me for a wonderful presentation...😂😂😂😂💁💁💁
@@ramirovca idk go back in time and undo it ? He or she is not asking white people to undo what happened more than 50 years ago.And you could idk help end the systemic segregation that still occurs ? Help end the slavery that still happens today ? These are just suggestions. The biggest one would be to idk try to understand what people mean when they share things that are supposed to be humorous and arent taking some form of stand against white people simply sharing an experience.Just so you know more than 50 years does not undo over 400 years of inequality, inhumane treatment, and down right assholery. If you think it does then you still have a long way to go.
please keep doing it/They need to know
J. Carson you cant blame them for what happened. You can challenge them over whats going on right now. Big difference between blaming someone for something they didn't do and challenging someone over something they CAN do today. Never blame a child for their fathers mistakes.
I am Mexican and I would say DANNNG
I’m white and I believe it is so important to remember where you came from. One of my ancestors was shot by police along with 32 other Irishmen during the 1863 Draft Riots in NY who were all trying to burn down a black orphanage with children still inside. Thank goodness the kids were okay, because the police killed my great-great (great?) grandfather and his wretched friends in time. I know I didn’t do that and that I had no part in that. I know that my brother and first cousin, who are his descendants, are biracial. That doesn’t mean for a second that I should forget what he did or that I should do anything less than live each day in a way he, a racist asshole, would have hated. It’s not shitting on you specifically when people talk about the crimes some of our ancestors perpetuated, it’s just shining a light on topics that many of us may have only learned a sugar coated version of. Until I was in my early 20s, I only knew of the positive side of my family’s history, such as my grandfather carpooling and the whole family being good friends with black neighbors in the 50s-70s because they lived on the same street and the dads worked at the same company, both sides of my family adopting and fostering children of all different backgrounds and loving the kids as their own, my parents moving to my mother’s home town because of the great mix of all different types of people. That doesn’t erase that monster ancestor, it just makes me glad that starting with his children and from there forth, my family chose to be NOTHING like him, and further inspires me to follow in their footsteps and speak out against racism and judge others for their character, not their skin color.
Roy Wood, telling it like it is. keep on keepin on!
He’s actually very very very good.
Dude took me by surprise hahahaha!!! Funny as hell!!
Right, I want to see Rappers show them vegetables 🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂👌🏿✌🏿👍🏿
You can learn a lot from a comedian. Loved how he works the joke back in at the end
Did he say "Lose weightin'...."? 0:42 LOL!
Yes, but it sounded like he intended to say losing weight, and the ing switched words.

Great comedian
That call back at the end...
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roywood jr is my favorite stand up comic
I remember back in 2004 I was working in the produce dept of a grocery store and we used kale to fill up empty spaces on the shelf.. we would give it away for free because we didn't think anyone would pay for it XD
My man, Roy Wood Jr.!
He's actually lost weight, didn't even know he was going to talk about losing weight.
Really? He was even fatter before?
@@virenvs905 Yeah he was way chubbier..good for him, Obesity is a silent killer.

Well, losing weight is a continuous struggle for some, especially if one has been overweight for most of their life. I'm sure he thinks about it every day.
Woah he's 37! Oh... I'm 37 too. I love you Roy! Lol
He just knows how to tie the reason back to the topic of the story... He's awesome
Loved the call back at the end!
Love Roy Woods. So refreshingly funny. 😘😘😘 😇✌❤🍷💃
