- U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday (April 16) paid a visit to his boyhood town of Scranton, Pennsylvania amid competing chants from pro-Palestinian protesters and local supporters as he kicked off a multi-city tour of the battleground state.
Outside the Scranton Cultural Center, where Biden spoke, a small group of protesters chanted "Biden, Biden you can't hide. We charge you with genocide," referring to Biden's policy largely supporting Israel in its campaign to root out Hamas from Gaza, following the group's deadly October 7 attacks in Israel.
The Palestinian health ministry says more than 33,000 Palestinians have so far been killed by Israeli fire.
Biden later received a more favorable reception as he toured his boyhood home in the working class city accompanied by local residents, some of whom chanted "We love Joe." -Report from Reuters
