Current classical composers are afraid of melody and feel compelled to add dissonance. Thus the added beauty of "traditional" composers. Don't be afraid of tradition.
I think the two main differences between modern and classical compositions are that classical doesn't have to grow on us because it already has and classical composers were not influenced by modern times.
Please add my vote for chamber music. I just bought a major label cd of Beethoven trios, and there is no sense that there are actual instruments playing in my living room.

Why not add blues to classical and jazz?
