Fabulous bike, l love it, very interesting video, good idea with the oil pump, great shots of the bike doing it's thing....:-) it is often referred to as the 'gentlemen's express'
Thank you ! Very interesting and consistent video! The color fits perfect- a motorcycle is a real masterpiece… you did a very inspiring job. Wish you safe and interesting motorcycle season ! 🙏
Many thanks for this great video. Excellent sound quality brings out the unique 'Beam exotic sounds. In Australia my S8 (circa early 1950's I think) cruised very well at around 55 to 60 MPH, with on some occasions topping over 70 MPH. But I think as you experienced, did not 'make it' to the elusive 80 MPH. 🏍💝
Anyone found a solution to the problem of excessive wear on the drive shaft splines? I’ve never had any problems with the bronze final drive gear, but the shaft is very ‘sloppy’.
Hi, Nice bike and a great idea with the oil pump. I may look into that for my S7D should I ever need a rebuild. I would say, I do quite like the colour you have went with but for me ( and I do know they can serve a purpose ) I have the sissy bars on it and the modern out of place indicator. Also not really a fan of the handlebars. For me if you remove the sissy bars, either remove or swap for smaller more discrete indicator lights with a period look and get more correct less upright handlebars it will look much nicer aesthetically. Sorry but these are only my opinions and yours and others may differ so hope you do not mind :) Great and interesting film though. Cheers.
would it be possible to purchase the 30 percent increased oil pump drive i have a 1954 sunbeam s8 project of my own and would like to ensure its longevity and reliability
This was really interesting! I'm currently restoring an S8 but there was a fair amount of information here I didn't know!

Thank You:) Although this bike is not the fastest on the planet, I really enjoy to ride with it:) Cheers!
I had the s7 and s8 back in the 1950`s also with a Watsonyon sidecar. had to be careful with the tyers what suited the sidecar did not suit solo.

Lovely piece. Just a note that it was Erling Poppe, not Pope. I know as he was my Granddad. Cheers
Ok I fixed it:) Cheers :)

I like the oil pump… any left over parts for an s7 (not deluxe)?
Have an original Oil pump, that's all.. cheers.

@@trck5639 You have to produce longer gears, herden them, and dig bigger groove for them. Lot ofeffort, but it is worth :-) cheers!
