only 1 step to learning jumps: SeNd iT
Yeah this is what I did and my friends thought I was insane and sent me this link lol
i landed some small jumps unintentionally, and decided i was good to send it and now I can only sit on one ass cheek to shit
@@Swishersenju lmao same, one cheek be sore af
That what I do but one time i landed on my neck I'm lucky i didn't get hurt now I know how to hit a jump properly
I sent it yesterday and face planted 😂😂😂
Video SB lessson was dope. Thank you for doing this.
Last year was the first time I ever snowboarded and the first time I tried a jump, I did a half backflip and landed almost on my neck
My biggest problem im having is right before ramp theres a bunch of carvings in the ice and they throw me off balance then i eat shit😂 any advice?
why are they called "no grab zones"?
While im more an experienced rider, your tutorials are legit the best, such straight forward instructions and clarity. Makes me feel more confident in my a abilities . 👍
“Find a Beginner zone”, Half pipe in the back: am I a joke to u?
Thanks for this. I can carve my ass off, just need to learn some basic cool jumps.
Same here..
I don’t know how this channel don’t have more subs, the videos are all so well produced and Tommy never fails to explain everything in details, keep up the good work man.
Thank you for clearing up when to pop and when to ollie.
yeah i just realised ive been trying to ollie off of every side jump in the forest lines causing me to lose control of the jump
I snowboard
@@gtflagvrhey12 ok??? Haha
The shoulder tip is elite. Having your shoulders open makes you spin so much and explains a lot of my bails.
Take off sketchy, land sketchy
Landed my first jump after watching your tutorial... I watch a lot of online snowboard content and you have the ABSOLUTE best instruction with the progression approach... just wanted to say much thanks for all that you do for the snowboard community and the overall sport...
Great Tutorial, would just like to add that a lot of beginners actually need advice on when they land the jump, knowing how to deal with the speed that they've picked up, landing in panic mode & put the brakes straight on & crashing
Tommie Bennett I’d love that! I was doing well on the jumps for the most part but it was mostly luck+small jumps. When I took them higher I would catch the nose or something, start flipping on the ground, and end up with snow in my nose haha
@@tommiebennett Yes, please make a landing video. Jumping isn't an issue, I need more consistency on landing. Thanks for the channel!
@@tommiebennett correction " how to crash properly"
@@tommiebennett Hey Tommie did you ever make a landing type video? Appreciate all the knowledge you give out! 🙏🤙
I fall in love with snowboarding in the past 2 years and I watch all kind of snowboarding videos before sleep everyday. Among all the videos, I love yours the most. You made ordinaries like me have a dream of snowboarding like a pro.
Perfect timing. Finally a confident rider, more or less, practicing some jumps all day tomorrow.
It super awesome how you talk about when to Ollie vs hop, this is a question that all beginner has but not one UA-cam snowboarder ever mention.
We need a video from you on stretching/conditioning/exercises for snowboarding. After a full day of riding, I'm exhausted. What do you do to stay in shape for riding days on days?
@@tommiebennett, staying hydrated is a huge help, but some specific exercises for core and legs would be helpful!
when youre landing do you land flat or on an edge?
What i do is land flat then go on an edge right away the more jumps you do it will come naturally
I slid 50Ft down the hill today my 1st time in park ny friends told me just send it to learn they gmfu😭I came straight to yt 😭😭
this guy, SPC and SA have got snowboarding on lock!..no need to look elsewhere
Ryan Knapton. Trust me
I have been binge-watching your videos for the last 2 weeks.. I love them man, if only I could do half the stuff you can do ;p only just into my 2nd season here in NZ so got a weee bit to go :D
I keep jumping "from my toes" and therefore landing on my toe edge. It seems like when you jump, even on flat surface, it is so effortless. I feel like I'm throwing so much energy into it. How do I jump and land balanced?
Commitment and no hesitation
Indeed perfect timing! I hit my first jump today. A very small, small jump 😋
this looks like copper mountain CO is it??
Dude! You are crushing it! I’ve always had trouble with jumps and these tips will definitely help!
Tommie: I wish I had watched this video before my park 101 camp yesterday when I hit my first jump. I landed fine when I just glided over or popped off the jump, but then my instructor told me to Ollie off the jump. Then I ate it every time. Why did she teach me to Ollie off the jump? I will never know, but I appreciate your instruction video!
Ghey. Never ollie off a jump as a beginner.
I’ve been binging tutorials and there’s so much info I’m hoping I remember it all!
I'm about to hit the slopes this weekend again and finally try to push myself to do some jumps. Few years back i broke some bones in a snowpark and been hesitant ever since. This video is very helpfull! I think I'm finally gonna do it again! Cheers from polish girl! You do a great job explaining things
I went from barely staying up on a board to doing black diamonds and hard blues as well as hitting 45mph and minor jumps in one season, all by watching and following a different video everytime I hit the slopes! You my ride more awesome for sure
How do you ride flat based without catching an edge?
Gonna try this tomorrow, wish me luck lol
Don't die lol
@@mikebrown-hb4zy I'll try not to 😅😂
This has to be at Copper
Great videos! I love the head movement when explaining. You make it look so easy. Lol
I landed my first "big" air the other day thanks to these videos I'm booting out of everything now! sooooo sick
I constantly land on my toe edge hard when i land, possibly from playing basketball so much im just use to it, but i veer off as soon as i land and its all bad. Any tips?
I’m just starting to get into jumps now. I’m finally able to ride switch comfortably. Thanks for the vid!
Background looks like sky chutes. Are you at copper mountain?
Can you give more details and tips for landing? I can go out of balance in the air...
Another great one, Tommie! QQ - often when I'm trying to ride my board flat leading up to a jump, the board starts to feel squirrel-y and slide around right at the approach. Any thoughts/tips on that?
Ride with 10% toe edge.
though I am Russian, your explanations are so clear to me and in the point. It helps me so much to struggle with my technique issues. Well Done, Tommie !
I disagree with your grab “rules”, kind of strange to put on creativity. One of my favorite grabs is using my back hand, start heel side, reach under your board and grab toe side. ‘No go’ grab rules are for people who think there’s no progression.
I just started like 2 years ago and got super comfortable before the end of last season was hitting jumps and popping pretty high. Tripped over my puppy right before this season started, right after I got a new board and have drop foot now and have for like 4 months, where you can't move/bend your ankle no matter how hard you try. Lost like all progress and confidence. I can like barely turn or even bomb a hill. Shit fucking sucks
Thank you for the video. Quick question. You mentioned that before you take off, you flatten the board (although you also said that you try to be on toe edge). When you land, are you supposed to land flat or on heel/toe side? Cheers!
Nice video. I’m glad u covered pops vs Ollie’s bc i was very curious about that
Are there any dryland workouts that can help train my shoulders not to open up mid air? I cant seem to stop rotating my shoulders when i take off. Any advice?
By Far, best Teacher, with charisma, skills and technical breakdowns. Thanks for such a great channel, you deserve way more views.
Yesterday, I tried to hit a jump, I fell and hit my headon the back and got soreness on my neck.
I didn’t align my body position with my board. And I was snowboarding alone.
Lesson learned in a hard way
This is something I need to learn
Me to Eliot😀

@@tommiebennett :) u make it look so easy i love it
I’m 44 and just learned how to snowboard this season (kind of late in life) are you able to teach me how to jump on the mountain? I normally go to Lake Tahoe resorts.
Small jump no problem. Bigger jumps and cliffs I keep landing and immediately fall on my ass. Tips?
This is so helpful im a beginner at doing jumps i just started this season and by just watching all your video im actually doing it but i wish you have more goofy video thank you
Goofy is just the same tips just other foot forward.
@@WAco-se9wf cool got it thanks
Really wish you had posted this last week... before I took myself into the park without the right tools and cracked my collar bone. Solid and clear tutorial 👍.
Low key looks and sounds like Blake from workaholics 🤣
Can anyone explain why the rails - just out side the bindings are a "no grab zone" ? Why is only inside the bindings a proper grab?
I just found your channel. Wow, great lesson and structure. I'll certainly watch this a few times, and use it in my lessons.
🇬🇧 Excellent video tommie , you do the best tutorials ever 🤘🤘👍
There seems to be two ways to teach popping off jumps. Some people actually tell you to hop at the end and others tell you to extend your legs but not hop into the air. I feel that at faster speeds it's hard to time that final hop and it looks like many really good snowboarders are not really actively jumping at the lip. You can only see them pushing against the transition but there's no hopping at the lip. What's everyones take on this?
I've been looking forward to the trick progression guide! Thanks for posting it Tommie.
Yeah don’t open up your shoulder when you approach the jump. I learned it the hard way. I slipped at the lip and spun out of control in the air and ended up landing on my shoulder and hurting it bad.
I'm riding since 2019 but never had the courage to send a jump, I hope I get it this season😂
Why I watch these videos though I can hit pretty big jumps is beyond me
I'd say its same.. you HIT IT WITH THE STICK on snowboard or on foot ;]
Thank you for putting all the bs at the end. I even watched it cause it didn't piss me off that it was the first thing I saw.
I just started making a few jumps with little to go on and this is gonna help a lot! Thanks!
Love your video, any advice how to jump a but? Feel my body is too heavy anddoesnt move from the snow
Respectfully for your own safety, why is your helmet so damn loose.
Do you have a simple explanation for where your eyes are to spot your landing?
If you jump and turn your shoulder, you gonna have a baad time!
I always tought send it first year of snowboarding i sent it on the biggest jump at the ski resort i ski at
"you may land on your face. Not awesome" love the dry remarks
Thanks for this video dude! Wish I've watched it earlier. Yesterday I was practising my jumps, and the whole day it was going great, but on the last run I was too tired and my body did not follow through, so instead of landing I just smashed into the ground. Long story short, I broke my back leg, so no more snowboarding this year... At least I've learned to not push further when I'm too tired, and I have all the time in the world to watch some more tutorials before going back up ;) Keep the coming, you have a new sub!
I know this was over a year ago, but I can definitely relate! I always push myself too much. Last year I was riding on barely any sleep and had a pretty bad wipe out. I don’t know how or what I did. Rolled and heard a crack. I thought I broke something, but it must have been my helmet hitting the ground. Had a headache the day after and some pulled muscles, so I came away lucky. I can only imagine if I hadn’t been wearing a helmet…
Thanks bro! Subscribed!
Let the jump throw your legs up to your hand and do not raise your legs up to your hand. It has the same negative function of leaning down to the board.. Just let your legs stay alittle looser as you come off the jump and the transition will dictate the lift and tuck of your air. Learning to jump this way will prevent errors when it comes to spins where you cant lift or lean at all without throwing off your rotation. Leaning towards your board to grab will be misty and raising your board to your hands will be more rodeo.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown - I’m gonna do it!
🔥🔥Nice Playlist to Snowboarding 🏂!!
got a slim jim hangin out’cha pocket 😂😂
I love you Tommie, great tutorial but its absorb not acksorb
Down anyone know what type of gloves those are?? Thanks
Liked to watch the transition of your arms move from a down position going up through the jump in sync in order to get your body some more height and balance. Thanks for the awesome videos.
i leaned forward instead of bringing my knees up a month ago and landed on my dace dislocated my shoulder. good to go again tho! great tips
Please some one tell me whats up with the no grab zones, yea im a newbie
Is this copper mountain?
how do u land? flat base or tail first? l;ooked like u dip the tail
@4:10 ahh shit here we go again, ain't found me yet lol
Good video, however….indie or stinkbug?
I’m glad you have gone with the pop method, way easier to learn jumps, there’s another UA-camr (shred something) that insists on ollies on jumps -yes it’s not the wrong answer, but I personally find that popping not only looks good but is less complicated to learn.
Also what’s your take on grab zones when you do euro style methods or Crails Ie in front of the bindings?
Should you hit the jump flat or on edge?
for the no grab zone what about a holycrail?
Bill Burr out here showing us how to snowboard
More visual explanation pls.
how do you avoid catching an edge when landing
Thank you for making this video. You're awesome

why you call it no grab zones?
So I don’t need to take off on an edge or land on an edge?
what is the mountain called
Can't you keep your board straight when you open your shoulder?
Do some practice and then you can keep your board straight even when you open your shoulder widely.
If you can't, think of and practice more counter rotation.
Those goggles are gnarly. 5head
Are you on tow edge when you hit the jump?
I’ve been snowboarding since I was 15 and have been too afraid to try the parks. Fix my car through youtube, why not learn the basics of a park?
