I like how Karen was complaining about Jackie being "Only a child craft kit reviewer" but there are plenty of kits she's reviewed that aren't just for kids, and there is some adult humor references. She also even gives disclaimers.

Being some one with both tats and piercings, I can say there is a stigma around it but I love that you have been willing to try out this form of art in a safe and constructive way. It's not like you are sticking needles in Sika or attempting to tattoo her. Haters goanna hate and and all you can do is sprinkle salt on them to make them extra salty. hehehe

    • @jennybartolo4360
      @jennybartolo4360 2 роки тому +11

Although that might make for a hilarious episode lol! But yeah don’t stick Sika lol Lastly, I feel like we’re finally losing the stigma. I work in an office and we have bunches of pierced and tatted folks. There’s no rules against it. I have no visible ink but I have purple hair gauged ears.

Definitely! Videos like these are only going to help destigmatize piercings and tattoos. Seeing that it really is not only an artform, but hard work requiring technical skill brings legitimacy to the industry. People freaking out about the gloves in the tat videos just irked me. She's practicing on silicone molds, and isn't going to be using these things on real humans in the future, chill out. She's just seeing what it's like and what it takes to do the job, and that's awesome.

I had my septum pierced like two weeks ago and watching you pierce the septum made my eyes water! The piercer used a needle that has like a little plastic sleeve bit that means the piercer can remove the needle and then slip the septum ring in the end of the tube and pull it out and the jewellery through, if that makes sense. Much easier. They also use a little Vaseline or similar on the needle too, makes the needle slip through much more easily and reduces the discomfort heaps. 😊

As a person who just got their septum pierced a few months ago and my ears pierced years ago i definitely recommend using the hollow needles as it takes out the piece of skin that you are replacing with the jewelry whereas with a gun you are shoving the piercing through the skin and damaging the skin more than if using a hollow needle. I will say the fact that you were disinfecting the area beforehand was a good thing. either way I love your videos and keep up the good work Jackie.

Jackie being open minded to a range of arts is quite inspiring. I grew up in a very racist catholic family and my parents hated rice (it’s ridiculous I know). This even includes the paella and the risotto etc. So naturally, I grew up with an internalised fear of rice-related cuisine although I’ve always been curious. After watching Jackie try tattooing I’ve decided to give rice-type food a try. I actually fell in love with it and I’ve been having it regularly. I think it’s so important to retain an open mind for everything. You’ll never know what you’re missing.

The jewelry wouldn’t fit in the needle because a general rule of thumb is to pierce with a needle one size larger than your jewelry, so in this case you would use a 14g needle for 16g jewelry 😂 I love watching you learn it’s very entertaining lol!

Just a little tip, piercing guns are not good for you even for the ear lobes, it just tears through your ear and the butterfly clips are not the best for healing piercings as your skin can eat it and it catches alot of dirt. Stick to needles if you can it causes less trauma yo your skin and heals alot faster.

Do not EVER get a peircing with a piercing gun, whether it's from a licensed professional or back alley Dave. Piercing guns CANNOT be sterilized, and they cause trauma to the tissue they're piercing. The piercing can become a keloid scar, or become lumpy/bumpy because of said trauma. You can get a blood infection, or even an infection from someone else *because* they can't be sterilized.
Kits like these are wonderful for learning the theory for aspiring tattoo / piercing artists (I myself was an aspiring piercing artist!) but there is a lot of misinformation out there. Please always do research about how the process works if you're going to get a permanent modification to your body, and please make sure you ignore back alley Dave and his piercing gun.

Pharmacies in my country pierce ears sometimes (bad idea) but at least they use single use piercing guns. Once upon 2 decades ago I had my lobes done at a jeweller and he actually did use the needle of a single use syringe and told me to only use saline to rinse and no touchy touchy
90yo jeweler knew better than rando pharmacist in this ripe modern age. I could feel it in my cartilage ones when my niece rotated the new lobe piecings and rinsed then with harsh disinfectant as per pharmacist instructions😬

When I was younger I wanted ear piercings but my parents refused when I said I wanted to go to an actual specialist for it, they randomly took me to Claires without telling me what we were doing and used their Parental Authority to pressure me into getting it done there. The piercings never healed so I just took them out again. They’re Christian so they have a prejudice against stuff like that and I guess they wanted it to be crappy on purpose.
Edit: Also I think Claire’s lied about the piercing material and the stud they used had nickel in it (my family has metal allergies) which is part of why it was always irritated and never healed.

I said it under the tattoo videos and I say it under this as well: Playing around with stuff like that is just fun and totally ok. You are not tattooing or piercing someone else (I honestly wouldn't care if you would try it on yourself but you are too smart for that ;) ), you are not hurting someone else, you are just trying out stuff thats interresting to you.
Again, Karen, if you are worried your child will do something like that, maybe do not give them access to your credit card or your online shoping accounts without supervision. And maybe keep an eye on them instead of burdening online entertainers with raising your children...

I agree about Jackie doing this the right way. And I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world if kids (teens) got some fake noses or skins and played around like Jackie. She's not piercing herself or anyone else.
They'll have to make a leap of logic to go from what she's doing to actually piercing themselves. And that wouldn't be Jackie's fault.
(Besides, I had some friends who pierced each others' ears at a sleepover with a needle and an eraser. It probably wasn't the most professional job, but it worked. After seeing that, I never got pierced ears 😂.
Of course, I'm not endorsing what they did -- it can definitely be dangerous and lead to infection or keloids, but kids have been doing things like this for generations and it's unfair to blame Jackie.)

As a piercer, I found this very entertaining. I particularly loved that you used a navel bar for the tongue (should be a barbell). Considering it was your first ever time trying anything like this, it was a good effort! The disposable clamps you were using are generally intended for septum piercings, they are, unfortunately, rather useless and will have made things much more difficult for you as they don't have much grip and are flimsy. If you plan on trying piercing again, perhaps a metal pair of reverse penningtons would make it easier for things like lip, navel, tongue etc. I use a rubber band wrapped around the upper portion of the clamps to get the correct tension instead of clicking them closed too. Also, always mark the spot first to have something to aim for and please get some corks, those needles are pointy! Hope this helps a little. Thank you for brightening my day before work Jackie!

The blunt gun earring actually pushed out a small bit of tissue which can cause scarring if the person decides to remove the piercing. That being said, most piercers will agree - piercing 'guns' (the machines you used for the nostrils on 'Jonathan') are terrible (mostly because the earrings are way less sharp than the needles, so the piercing isn't as clean and is actually more damaging than a needle.

Then they blamed me because I "didn't clean them properly". I followed their aftercare very strictly. Learned years later that most people who get pierced there have problems. piercing guns should never be used, specifically because of the infection risk and the risk of damage to the are where you pierce, which a needle wouldnt do. this is because of how the guns work. they dont stab you with a needle, they forcefully punch the jewelry through the body, which can break cartilage and shatter it, which a needle wouldn't do, as it just simply punctures it using a needle. i appreciate you making these videos and not making them on real people, but i feel that it needs to be said that piercing guns are not a safe way to get pierced, and that needles are definitely preferable!

At the shop i work at we use the original listerine (the yellow one) to disinfect inside the mouth. Also if you put the tip of the needle in some neosporin it helps the needle go through easier, because it acts as a lube. Another note is try using a piece of cork and the end of the needle you push from instead of pliers to get through the tough silicone. I will add that I’m primarily a tattoo artist who can do piercings so I don’t pierce often but hopefully this is helpful.

So this is more for what you can do with the supplies after you've done a second video because why spend that money and not get everything you can out of it. All the silicone pieces including the head are great for making molds off of, for clay or paper mache. I'd love to see you try making paper mache masks or something. And all the extra findings you have could be added to your sculptures to give them the look of piercings, or just metal accents. At least that's where my mind goes with all the extra pieces you have.

You actually did pretty good! You need lube though! (“That’s what she said” lol) vasoleen, is what my piercer used. You are definitely missing some jewelry though. Like straight bars for tongue rings and nipples. You also did really well with the gauges. The smaller the number the larger the hole. The larger numbers like 16 and 18 are generally used for thinner skinned areas like face and skin. Also even for piercing your ears it is always better to use a hypodermic needle than to essentially push or puncture the skin with itself. It heals faster with less chance of rejection when you use the hypodermic needle than the gun. Thank you Smitty at BIG BRAIN Omaha NE!
