Although much appreciation is given to Alex for his posit that "knot craft" could be an old English form of macrame, I would like to counter that it seems more like a direct translation from German rather than an old English word. Not that he'll see this or that it matters
I love writing, but those school structured paragraphs and essays teach you a stupid structure that isn't practical in anything ever again. Like the skills are fine, but the structure itself, intro, 3 points, conclusion, it's awful. Take as many or as little points as you need without stretching, and don't even bother with phrases like 'and in conclusion,' 'cause that's just bad writing that looks like you're writing for an assignment and not something that would ever be published... School writing made me the big angry.
I had an exam in college where my professor expected us to answer three out of five essay questions that way. Thankfully, it was only those three questions. But my hand was cramping by the end of it.
My senior year English teacher broke down the traditional school essay and deducted points for anyone who uses one of the bad habits school writing taught us. Such as using contractions, limiting how many times we start sentences with "I," etc. It actually made me into a good writer. In the course of my entire school, I only ever had 2 good English teachers.
They taught us structured five-sentence paragraphs long after they introduced the five paragraph essay, and it just felt overly restrictive after so long. Really resented Jane Shaffer's method
Mal masterfully avoided the Sand/Sahara match #MalSweep

I like Alex coming up with an Anglo-Saxon calque for macramé, that's not the kind of humour you get on most UA-cam channels :D
