We saved our rabbit from a really bad situation too. We got Bambi from Kijiji for free. The home had lots of cats and dogs. Now that I know that he could have ended up as food for a predator breaks my heart. My sister was his original owner for many years and now that she's grown up I adopted him. Now he's 9 and really old, but still very loved.
Definitely! I suspect there will be some rabbits that will have a harder time finding a home, simply due to their appearance or personality unfortunately as there's more rabbits in rescues than people want right now, and if they end up having to stay we'll be much more equipped for it if that does happen :)
@@Emiology Oh 100%! I recently adopted a 10 month old syrian hamster - the rescue said no one showed any interest in her for months due to her age and temperament. Another rescue I follow had a bengal kitten not yet ready up for adoption, but they said they had people offering hundreds of pounds before she was even ready, simply because they were a more ‘desirable breed’. It makes me so sad when people believe animals are more worthy of adopting just because they are ‘cute’ rather than suited to their situation :(
It’s weird to even see purebred cats in rescues as it would’ve been so rare years ago! A lot of the cat rescues I follow are having Maine coons and ragdolls in sometimes and that used to be unheard of 😭
His markings are so gorgeous! I really hope he finds the best home, with someone who loves him very much. Rabbits are such amazing pets but are a huge commitment (like any pet is) I miss my past bunny a lot, he was a rescue too and loved with us until he was approx 11yrs old (he was about 4 ish when we got him). Thank you and you friend for opening this rescue, I wish you all the best! :)
Not falling in love with the animals is one of the hardest parts of rescuing them for sure! I’m hoping to have a small rescue/boarding house for reptiles and exotic animals when I move to a bigger place and I *know* I’m going to have trouble with wanting to keep them all but I’m determined to provide a service like this in my community as our shelter just isn’t equipped or knowledgeable enough for those types of animals. I’ve already taken in several reptiles, 2 guinea pigs and several mice that were no longer wanted or were receiving inadequate care, but these are part of the family at this point and I plan on trying to see if I can get them to be ambassador animals in a Reptile/Exotic Animal Education Program I also plan on starting sometime in the near future so I can take them to schools and libraries to educate people on proper care of the animals and what can happen if they’re not cared for properly. I have a leopard gecko with severe mbd from lack of uvb and calcium and a royal python who’s growth has been stunted from lack of care that I want to include in the program to really show the negative impact improper care can have on an animal. I wish I lived near you so I could offer some volunteer help with your fledgling rescue, but since I’m all the way over here in the US, I have shared your links to the rescue and PayPal on my Facebook page and I am going to share them on my Instagram page as well. I wish you lots of luck and I’m sending good vibes your way! Thank you for having such a kind and generous heart. ☺️💕
Thank you 🤎 End goal for us is to move to a farm and have the rescue setup with animals in appropriate setups where people can come and see how much space they need and have a trial day before buying their kids pets. If they’re not put off and would actually make a good home they can adopt from the animals we have at the time - one day 🤞🏼
@@Emiology That’s an amazing idea! Fingers crossed that you get to your goal asap! We need something like that all over the world. Maybe then there won’t be so many animals going to shelters because people didn’t realize the amount of work/care/space/etc was necessary to keep them healthy and happy.
I don't know how I came across your Channel, but I'm happier because I did.... I love that you rescued Boots, what a sweet bunny! Thank you for your rescue efforts!!! All love 💕
Forgot to mention that I have 2 rescue bunnies as well.. and they fill my life with such happiness!! Banksy and Buttercup ❤️ I've just watched several other videos of yours... And so very grateful. Thanks for all that you do!!
Had to share my story ! I just rescued a rabbit in my neighborhood that was let go by cruel people in my area, during this summer I've been trying to gain his trust even though it took long it paid off and he ended up coming home with me and now he's a happy bunny safe and warm just in time for winter his name is oreo and I'm totally in love with him ! Plus I have a dog so I cannot get enough of both of them
I fostered bunnies and kittens before getting pregnant. There are two bunnies in particular that I still think about often, but I know that not keeping them was ultimately the right thing. Good for you. It’s hard, but also so rewarding.
I would LOVE a rabbit and Boots looks like SUCH a good boy and such a beautiful bunnn 😭😭 But I have a hedgehog and not enough room for a rabbit at the moment, maybe one day!!!
My first rabbit was an albino and also likely supposed to be food given that she only had a full bowl of pellets and was in a cheap cage. I got her when I was struggling with depression, we connected immediately and I brought her right then and there. She was a huge blessing in my life. She would stay by me and even jump on my bed to comfort me when I was crying. Because of her I realized the connection I had with rabbits and how perfect they were for me as a companion. I know some people call themselves a bunmom or their rabbits their babies but for me rabbits are more of my companions. My first rabbit helped me so so much, I owe her everything and so I’ll have bunnies till the day I die. And of course because of my relationship with rabbits I do not eat rabbit meat at all. (I’ve never actually had so it’s not a loss for me) No disrespect to anyone who does though, it just feels wrong to me. ^^ Anyway, You’re so amazing for rescuing the rabbit, I understand that they are good cattle but if that cattle is being abused it’s still wrong and most certainly if they were about to be foxes snack (sorry foxy but you’ll have to find something else to nom on). Great video! ❤
I'd love to donate but I don't have enough money at the moment. I love you so much you are one of my biggest inspirations and I'm so glad I found your channel. I hope you, and all of the babies are doing well :]

I’ve never had a rabbit but I want Boots! If I wasn’t across the pond from you, I’d be begging to adopt him. Lol. Seriously, you’re such a gift for these lovely critters in need. 🥰 Edit: Oops. I excitedly posted before the end & see he has a home. Yay! Almost certainly for the first time you showed Boots the life he deserves, filled with love and care, safe and free from predators, a clean bed, good food. Soon his new family will provide him with companionship, too. What a perfect outcome! 🐰❤️
That foraging cardboard is SO CUTE! May you please share where you got the things from this video? You're so amazing for help ing out this little furbaby!
Great job! So glad you did the right thing by him. I cried when you said you aren’t keeping him because you obviously love him and provide a great life for him. Heartwarming ❤
Ah Boots is gorgeous, not suprised you fell in love with him. It gets, easier as you go along to part with them. Not gonna lie there's always going to be a certain one that just is extra special but all in all just knowing they're going somewhere where they will be spoilt and have company etc. Makes it easier. It's a lovely temporary set up though, I think I might steal that mount if soil idea for my buns for next spring.
Haha the top soil is piled there left over from us re-doing our front garden. Whether we will ever get round to using it for the back garden I don’t know 😅
Before watching your channel, I never realized how different the “normal” pet trade is than in the US. Here (thankfully) rabbits are virtually never in pet stores, and “pets for children” are normally sad Betta. While over there that horrible pets at home, or whatever it is, just existS. In the United States, our back gardens are normally entirely walled off, so everyone I’ve ever known who (sadly) got a rabbit for their children ended up having them just run around outside. Especially where I am, where there are no foxes and raptors virtually ever risk landing on ground surrounded by six foot walls, it’s actually pretty safe. My darling childhood rabbit passed about two years ago, it took a very long time for me to finally view my bedroom as a bedroom, as it was completely devoted to where she was baby gated off from the rest of the house. She was incredibly petty, and the most dramatic creature I’ve ever seen, but she was such a darling. In the end, I had her bonded enough to where I never had to pick her up for any reason, just treating her like a horse to clip her nails and clean her bum 😵💫 I love rabbits so much, but I don’t think I can emotionally handle losing one agaiN, they’re such angels
Yes, pets at home is singlehandedly responsible for filling our rescues with rabbits here, they're the first thing you see when you walk in store and the general population treats them awfully, probably one of if not the most neglected pet in the U.K. In recent years there's been a rise of backyard breeders selling them too so it just gets worse and worse. It's interesting, most of the anti outdoor (even when properly secured) brigade comments i've gotten are US based, I've not heard of anyone housing their rabbit outside over there, i suppose predators and weather very much depends on the state.
Omg that is actually heartbreaking that it was about to be fox food, I get it that foxes need to eat to but it is a domestic bunny and its still really said either way. :(..
It was a lose lose situation for him bless him, glad he was at least able to stretch his legs from a tiny hutch but not being secured in something put him at risk
@@Emiology also one of my ex-friends had a bunny called bella and I felt super bad for it, it had the smallest cage ever not even half the size of the minimum of a rat cage and it only had a super dirty litter box with loads of poop in it it hadn’t been cleaned for months ,bad quality food and a small water bottle which she wouldn’t be bothered to fill so she just dehydrated the rabbit. it had no toys or anything to do so it would just sit there and keep on grooming itself due to stress. My ex-friend even shouted at the bunny and thought it was funny that it was scared and some of my other good friends had even told me she hit the bunny when they where there. While i was there bella wouldn’t stop biting my ex-freind and i decided To make a little gift box with many chews ,treats and other toys that would make her happy . She was really happy and immediately started to interact with the toys i had bought her. I put some treats in the foraging toys and she got a little confused at first but then started to play with them and figure out what they where for. I filled up her water bottle ,decorated her cage , put new litter , put more food , put some hay and petted her . Bella would just close her eyes and enjoy me petting her. After a while me and my ex-friend were not friends any more since she had been rude and she had broke something probably on purpose and then she decided to lie to everybody and just say that i broke all her stuff including her rabbits cage her cage was broken when i came into that room not really even broken just horrible quality. I feel so bad for bella and even now sometimes i call with her and i see her rabbit in the background and she had removed the chews for some reason and she had barley and water , full food luckily but no more chews or hay. My ex-freind probably chucked them away for some reason .. Probably because she was mad.. I really hope bella soon has a new owner or runs away to a better place somehow. she’s in such bad condition and i don’t know why my ex-freind even has a bunny if she’s not gonna take care of it. And a plus her family is rlly noisy and especially her younger brother screams at the bunny making it even more stressed.. I’m only getting rats since there’s only 2 people in this house. Me and my mother. anyways if you read this tysm for reading and have a good day/night.
Pets get spoiled with their meds. My rabbit has been on medication that has been banana, honey or butterscotch flavoured before. I’m kind of jealous, why can’t human medicine be that tasty? Lol oh and you might want to get a Hair Buster Comb for those shedding bunny butts. It’s not a very expensive comb but it works wonders.
I have two pet rabbits and a chinchilla. I used to have rats too. Wow he ate right away, that's surprising (he must feel really safe where he's at now).
Boots is such a gorgeous bunny! And so happy to know that he is getting adopted. 🥰 I bet it's hard to give him up, the bond between you 2 was very clear, but thanks to you he gets to live his life to the fullest. Can't wait to see who you are gonna rescue next! ❤ Also, how are the 3 mouse girls doing?
For their dogs entertainment? Uff I just remember that this year in speing i saw a guy letting his dog loose at a wild hare in the middle of a field. And no he was not a hunter. This is so horrible
So cute I might not use marker on the box because they will chew it and could be harmful if in large quantities but great job on everything most people would have just bought one and keep it an a box.
I had a rabbit once named charlie and me and my mom and dad put him in my room then the grage the in my back yard then he jumped on the wall a lot then we just let him free rom and I would see him every day but like 6 months ago we say a cyotey and he killed one of are chickens the I could not fine charlie he might of got atenDangerousI haven't seen him to that day 😥😢🥺 I'm so worryed about him 🥺😭

Pinning this comment as no doubt it is something that will come up any time rabbits / rescue is mentioned. Please remember that I am U.K based, housing rabbits outdoors when done CORRECTLY is wildly accepted here, when it might not be in your country. I'm respectful of preference and love advocacy for good indoor setups but it's not a feasible solution that is up for debate for rescues as it would only result in an even bigger stray rabbit crisis than there is now. I fully understand the sentiment and the preference because ultimately indoors IS the safest option if done correctly to avoid other family pets that can pose just as much risk and stress and also things like access to wires etc... but the way Rescues operate here is the difference between buns being stray, killed by foxes / cars / birds, waiting longer in a tiny hutch or cage OR in a large enriching setup that is predator and element proofed, where they may be occassionally spooked by something (Which can happen indoors) or feel the effects of weather (which can also happen indoors here as our houses get very cold and very hot, often hotter than the outside).
The reality of the entire crisis with Rabbits in this country at the moment is there is not enough people wanting rabbits who is happy to give them the space they require, compared to the number of rabbits sat in rescues. Beautiful friendly rabbits, with blazes and blue eyes and no one wants them. Imagine the effects of halfing those that do want them, and can care for them correctly, by having an indoor only policy?

In the end, I had her bonded enough to where I never had to pick her up for any reason, just treating her like a horse to clip her nails and clean her bum 😵💫
I love rabbits so much, but I don’t think I can emotionally handle losing one agaiN, they’re such angels
@@Emiology aww :((
i’m so glad he is in better hands
now !!❤️
@@Emiology also one of my ex-friends had a bunny called bella
and I felt super bad for it, it had the smallest cage ever not even half the size of the minimum
of a rat cage and it only had a super dirty litter box with loads of poop in it
it hadn’t been cleaned for months ,bad quality food and a small water bottle which she
wouldn’t be bothered to fill so she just dehydrated the rabbit. it had no toys or anything to
do so it would just sit there and keep on grooming itself due to stress. My ex-friend even
shouted at the bunny and thought it was funny that it was scared and some of my other good
friends had even told me she hit the bunny when they where there. While i was there bella wouldn’t
stop biting my ex-freind and i decided To make a little gift box with many chews ,treats and other toys that would
make her happy . She was really happy and immediately started to interact with the toys i had bought her. I put some treats
in the foraging toys and she got a little confused at first but then started to play with them and figure out what they where for.
I filled up her water bottle ,decorated her cage , put new litter , put more food , put some hay and petted her . Bella would just
close her eyes and enjoy me petting her. After a while me and my ex-friend were not friends any more since she had been
rude and she had broke something probably on purpose and then she decided to lie to everybody and just say that i broke
all her stuff including her rabbits cage her cage was broken when i came into that room not really even broken just horrible
quality. I feel so bad for bella and even now sometimes i call with her and i see her rabbit in the background and she had removed
the chews for some reason and she had barley and water , full food luckily but no more chews or hay. My ex-freind
probably chucked them away for some reason .. Probably because she was mad..
I really hope bella soon has a new owner or runs away to a better place somehow.
she’s in such bad condition and i don’t know why my ex-freind even has a bunny if she’s not gonna take care of it.
And a plus her family is rlly noisy and especially her younger brother screams at the bunny making it even more
stressed.. I’m only getting rats since there’s only 2 people in this house. Me and my mother.
anyways if you read this tysm for reading and have a good day/night.
Hi love your channel soo much and journey to be a subscriber ❤
Aww how lovely
i have 1 male rabbit not nueterd and free roams my medium garden
Pets get spoiled with their meds. My rabbit has been on medication that has been banana, honey or butterscotch flavoured before. I’m kind of jealous, why can’t human medicine be that tasty? Lol oh and you might want to get a Hair Buster Comb for those shedding bunny butts. It’s not a very expensive comb but it works wonders.
We have strawberry flavoured medicine for kids here and honestly I carried on taking it well past the age limit because it taste way better 😂
I love thee rescue videos!!
I have two pet rabbits and a chinchilla. I used to have rats too. Wow he ate right away, that's surprising (he must feel really safe where he's at now).
Yes! I thought the same thing. Always gotta watch for that first meal and those first poops!
Aw he looks similar to one of my rabbits pippin :)
pls keep him so we can see him
No
Where did you get the toy he's playing with at the end?
Boots is such a gorgeous bunny! And so happy to know that he is getting adopted. 🥰 I bet it's hard to give him up, the bond between you 2 was very clear, but thanks to you he gets to live his life to the fullest. Can't wait to see who you are gonna rescue next! ❤
Also, how are the 3 mouse girls doing?
For their dogs entertainment? Uff
I just remember that this year in speing i saw a guy letting his dog loose at a wild hare in the middle of a field. And no he was not a hunter. This is so horrible
So cute I might not use marker on the box because they will chew it and could be harmful if in large quantities but great job on everything most people would have just bought one and keep it an a box.
Sharpies are non toxic, I’m not worried 🙂
I’m so glad he could have a amazing foster mom
