Ps5 and Xbox have been using Directstorage. It’s been available on the windows 11 for a long time now ❤. Hope more devs use the direct storage API on PC games from Microsoft.
they have been using directstorage on linux since 2010
@@demonkingswarn The ‘resizable bar’ that’s somewhat similar on Linux. But, directstorage API from windows mostly favours gaming by streaming game textures directly to the GPU. There’s a blog on RTX I/O, do check it out.

How to check ?
1. Windows + G
2. Click on gear/settings icon.
3. Go to Gaming features.
4. The right side of "XII" Icon will show wheather you system is Direct X 12 or X12 ultimate ready.
- GPU will show whether it is optimized for Direct storage.
- OS will show if currect OS supports it or not.
- Drive status will show which drives (C,D,F..... etc if u have multiple drives) supports Direct storage NVME Gen 3 or higher will show suported.
