Ah yes, Whitebeard. The man so powerful and scary that he grows a moustache, calls it a beard, and nobody dares to speak about it.
Tis coz in japanese "hige" means both beard and mustache xD
Might be sarcasm, but that's just something lost in translation. The Japanese word "hige" in "Shirohige" (Whitebeard) just means "facial hairs", so it doesn't distinguish between beard and mustaches, but that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue in English... XD
@@lukebeich oda was questioned on this and he flat out said that his name in english is "whitebeard".
@@maxacorn question where? and what does it matter? It doesn't change the meaning of his original name. Oda probably just accepted the official English translation.
@@maxacorn Well yeah because it sounds good. It sounds good and makes sense in Japanese, but they still need it to become a cool sounding name in English too. Do you think he should be named Whitefacialhair?
This man documents everything, imagine the theories when he's caught up.
He will need to buy a house or to for wall space.
@@lydialubach8872 or digitallly
still doesn't know what happened 22 years ago 💀
@@dfactoropbr God Valley was 22 years ago I'm pretty sure that's what they was talking about
@@vibe_with_me999 it was 36 years ago as for this episode timeline. 22 years ago was Roger's execution
I love the reveal of shanks being on rogers ship because it immediately gets cut off by the realization buggy was on rogers ship
'Look above', jack literally looks up. That had me cracking
This shanks scene was straight out 10/10
Basically every scene lmao
@@headshotfaze9371 All 3 or 4 lol
Remember when Ace showe up randomly on Bufgy's ship and joined their party? Buggy told his crew that he's peronlly met Whitebeard in the past. The revelation that he and Shanks were apprentices on Roger's crew is the visual confirmation that they have been around town for a good while.
Shanks basically said Black Beard is out of Ace's league. If BB gave him that scar he is not to be underestimated.
You take in information really well. During these info dumps in one piece, especially this one, people tend too miss out on important info or misinterpret lines but you seem to keep a strong grasp on what is being said.
Right? He kind of gets the whole picture with BB and the Gorosei as the main villains of the story.
Yea a lot of people missed where they had mentioned that shanks used Haki
Overall he does better than most but he still gets confused by stuff he should know. Like the scar wb is referring to being from Roger, since he goes on to talk about shanks being on his crew. He’s also confused by the 22 years thing, though it was previously mentioned to be the length of time since Roger died
@Josiah Baumgartner No, it isn't from Roger, when Roger died, Whitebeard didn't have these scars
Or it might be fake reactions
6:29 'look above'
Jack: 👀
Haki is just straight up the Japanese word for willpower
Thanks for this comment
I kinda don't want him to skip the filler, but that would also mean I'd have to wait longer for the story to progress.
He's in summit war saga now. But in patreon he's in thirller bark
8:30 Zoro knows what is about to happen.
He dipped rq
Yeah, he sensed the danger and got right outta dodge.
Nami is in the same category as Garp when she is pissed, since she can make Luffy hurt like no other!
Jack, firstly, Shanks and Buggy used to be apprentices on Roger's ship. It is not stated explicitly, but I think it is safe to assume that the guy who gave Whitebeard his scar was either Roger himself, or someone else from Roger's crew (not Shank's crew). You ask what happened 22 years ago. Gol D. Roger was executed 22 years ago 😜, bringing upon the Great Pirate Era, and the search for One Piece.
Secondly, when Whitebeard says that only Garp, Sengoku (and Shanks) remain from that era, it's Roger's era (the pre-Great Pirate Era), he is talking about. This is in sync with that statement that a guy makes a couple of episodes ago where he says that Garp "the Fist" is a legendary Navy Hero who was said to be able to go toe to toe with Roger himself. Additionally, keep in mind that Aokiji was "just" a Vice Admiral during the Ohara incident 20 years ago, and this is 22 years ago we are talking about. So, at least one of three current Navy admirals, Aokiji, was not that big of a deal during that era. Garp (currently a Vice Admiral) and Sengoku (currently the Fleet Admiral), it seems, were.
Thirdly, people ask why One Piece is so long? We are already 316 episodes in, and have really met just one of the six Warlords, have sort of met just one of the three Navy Admirals, and have sort of met just two of the Four Emperors. Moreover, we have not even entered the "New World" yet, which is supposed to be the actual real deal. Add in the Void Century, the mystery behind "D", the three Ancient Weapons, Dragon and the Revolutionary Army, the Five Great Elders, and this new "Haki" thing and we got a WHOLE LOT of ground to cover. Frankly even 2,000 episodes might not be enough.
Jesus that is a rlly lengthy comment
@@keflalssj damn u
Spoiler
Akainu too
We've met two, technically, with both Crocodile and Mihawk. Also, Ohara should have been 20 years ago. Robin's around 28.
@@KevinVideo Technically, we have met 4. Remember, we have met Kuma and Doflamingo too. That's why I wrote "really met", because we have seen nothing of the real power of the three other than Croc.
Thanks for the correction on the timeline of the Ohara incident. I have edited my comment accordingly.
"I hope that Buggy is doing okay"
As many things you just have to wait 😁
MANGA SPOILER AHEAD U HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
from pirate clapped by luffy to an emperor
@@salty2saucy647 what does your sentence even mean??
@@salty2saucy647 buggy is confirmed stronger than zoro because they fought and buggy won
"What happened 22 years aggooo" Gold Roger died lol
lol
Every scene shanks is on will always be 11/10 and his not even showing his full power yet 🤣
8:24 dude jack is hilarious when he wants to be. The part where he does this with kokroro got me good too.
Eh
One of my favorite things about the conversation between wb and shanks was that wb brings up buggy at the beginning of the convo so he can compare him to shanks later
When Whitebeard said "Every time I look at you, the scars that man gave me throbs", he's talking about Roger cause Shanks was an apprentice on Roger's ship
Actually, this isn't confirmed. Some people think this might be Xebec
@@kidkouga92 maybe idiots. He’s talking about Roger. It doesn’t make any damn sense to be like “hmm every time I see you I think about this scar that xebec gave me… you used to be on Roger’s ship as an apprentice”. No need to grasp at straws, there are plenty of legitimate mysteries in one piece
@@Mr.Death56isn't that how old. Shanks is more or less
@@RandomContent214 they have no connection we know of, but if I'm not mistaken Roger found shanks in a treasure chest at god valley.
@Arman Damn roger found shanks in a treasure chest 40ish years ago which lines up with god valley. It’s not confirmed to have been on that island but we know about 40 years ago because shanks was a baby
Buggy D. Clown was member of the greatest crew.
We know that Luffy is not immune to a Fist of Love (all thanx to Garp) but now we know he is also not immune to Nami's Fist of Fury/Wrath.
PEAK BEFORE MORE PEAK
He's getting close to witness one of the greatest war in anime history soon
still like five arcs away
... Buggy already told us he met Whitebeard before when Ace hopped on he's ship.
Jack: Recaps and theorizes about all that info dump
Those of us who already know: "Oh, my poor, sweet, innocent summer child..."
You did really well breaking things down and caught most of it. Also, 300-500 is by far the best of early one piece so enjoy!
Jack, I really hope that your wall is three-dimensional, cuz I don't think that you have enough space.
7:26 Yep Sanji's poster will shake the whole world for 420+ episodes 😂
Subscribed, Its fun watching you break down more lore as you watch!!
Didn't expect you to upload it straight away!
oh, 22 years ago, some guys went out to sea, found an island and just laughed!
And were here the start of everything get ready jack
Yeah I know it was almost 300 episodes ago but back when we meet Buggy he tells Luffy he used to be friends with Shanks on the same ship
It mentioned it by now, but 22 years ago in this current part of the story, Whitebeard was referring to the passing of Gol D. Roger. Roger was Whitebeard's greatest rival so hes referring to him when he says "our era". The theme of creating a new era is a big one in One Piece. So when Roger died, that basically ended his Era and all the other pirates in his league for the most part. So now we are waiting to see a new unfold. Glad youre enjoying the series! Love the vids.
I do love how the end episodes of the arcs in one piece are the majority of the time are big fat lore dump in must anime the end of the arcs are as exciting as the beginning and middle of arcs
yoooo just found u and ur reactions are great
Finally, CHADBEARD time. Trust me when I tell you that whitebeard is legit the best written character in literature.
I love the one frame in the meeting scene where they flash Whitebeard's epithet as the strongest man in the world juxtaposed against the image of him being hooked up to multiple IVs since he's old and sick.
I'm surprised at how accurately derived this episode, it was very important!
Hi bro, really liked your idea of creating a knowledge tree on the wall to get all dots connected
22 years ago was the end of “Whitebeard’s Era” and the Beginning of the New “Great Pirate Age”
What? Technically the White beard era is post Roger's death. Whitebeard obtained the title strongest man, after Roger died
What 💀
I love your wall! It will be of great value in the future😊
Hey jack I am glad you are enjoying one piece.
Haki translates to something like "willpower" or "ambition", by the way.
Let's go 2 episodes in 1 day
we have that everytime brother
@@lostzoro1392 lol
We’ve gotten that since he started one piece 😂
"Shanks and Mihawk? What's does a fight like that look like??"
WISH I KNEW BROTHER
Lol Getting red haired dose is always cool but now don't expect him for couple hundred episodes...
I'm glad you pay as much attention as you can to learn everything you can,it really is cool. 🌯 🐐
I love the fact that you have a wall about important stuff cuz youll need it when a random thing said about a random character comes back after a million episodes and you relize it actually important
1:55 Iceberg want's to make the island FLOAT, not FLY !
Seeing Shanks drink that giant sake cup hits different as an adult than as a kid who's witnessing it for the first time.
HOLY W THE MOST INTELLIGENT REACTOR
You should also check out cover stories. They didnt animate those. They cover what characters were up to after the arc, characters like Ace, CP-9 and Spandam, Enru and etc
One piece worldbuliding is at a league of it's own, others can't just compete!
Such a legendary scene.
"What happened 22 years ago?"
Idk maybe the thing that every episode parades around atthe start lmao
bruh that wall gunna double after this episode
The intro of "Haki"🔥
22 years ago... You just gotta see the ep1 intro xDD
Man, just remembering Chopper thinking about a bounty, and Sanji picturing how his would look, boy did they not see it coming
Haki is a new power system. It'll be explained more in the later episodes
People reacting to haki for the first time is so fun
8:44
yo, last night was a MOVIE
Unrelated to this video, but I want to spend a second to give Jack my appreciation for the fact he always goes the extra mile to avoid big spoilers in the thumbnails and titles instead to resorting to clickbait. I really really appreciate that.
Lol that wall is too small my dude 😂😂😂
8:29 I'll call it whatever you want 😂😂😂
Yeah, the 4 emperors are definitely not allies. Nobody could stop them if they were! 😳
That and the fact that the Navy has the 7 Warlords is keeping the balance of power in the world…
other than jack's amazing grasp of all the details, he is really good-looking. let me just put it out there
Damn, I never realized that they name dropped Haki this early.
8:27 your oh mah gawd's are the best
My favourite moment got removed from cut when whitebeard said that even the stupid crewmates are like his son as that is how any captain should be
See that space on your wall? Its going to get so much smaller and those strings are gunna look spiderwebbed to hell 😂
They kind of just glossed over it, but just remember the Sky Splitting scene. It's actually a massive fucking deal
That's really the moment when the One Piece world opens up to the viewers ;)
Can't wait till he sees the rest of the family tree
Whitebeard and shanks may be the only pirates who know what the blank century is
If you haven't put it up on your wall yet, Vegapunk is definitely a name you want up there
Watching new watchers just try there fricking best to figure out shit without knowing anything is just so fun
the coldest walk in one piece
Oh boy, wait till he finds out all of Buggy's accolades. This is only the beginning my friend
Allow me to tell you this, even though I know you are further along on your Patreon watch through. The writer himself has said that there will be no mystery or plot point unresolved, quite literally everything will be explained by the end of the story, or so he claims. That being said, I’m currently caught up on the series and yes, definitely been delivering on that promise. I’m excited for you to figure things out as you go 🤟🏻
Spoiler warning
I'm hoping we see how Zoro got his eye scar. Also I'd like to know if Zoro seeing Death while fighting King has any further significance or if it was simply a way to show how close he was to dying.
Do you know where oda says the nothing unresolved thing? I’ve heard several say it but don’t know where
@@headshotfaze9371 After chapter 1053, when Oda took a month long break, in his message he said that he will resolve all the mysteries of the One Piece world.
yep both are unimaginable powerful ^^
Massive takeaway you missed that should be noted.
Roger found the one piece right?
That spark up any questions for shanks / buggy?
Bruh i forgot that the massive lore drop after Enies Lobby. In between arcs is where Oda always goes bananas.
“He’s trying to become a warlord.” If only that was Blackbeard’s true goal.
This is the first of many "lore dumps" in one piece. After every arc, when the straw hats' journey is taking a break, we often get to see what's happening in the rest of the world. The straw hats are the main characters, but the world is vast and functions even when they aren't present. That's what's so amazing about One Piece. You really feel that immersion.
I love how whitebeard is so strong he doesnt even need a beard to be called whitebeard
By the time we find out what happened 20+ years ago in anime it'll already have taken double that just to figure it all out
Whitebeards weapon is called "Murakumogiri" which is a Naginata and one of the 12 Supreme Grade swords.
Chopper's bounty, hehehe, oh nononnono 🤣🤣
Nice knowing you Ace.
Jack, to put it simply, Haki is a person's will power/spiritual energy or ambition that in dwells in everyone in the world of One Piece. However, only a select few can unlock/awaken its true potential through rigorous training.
Ahh so refreshing now he knows how strong shanks an whitebeard really are as the previous episode he put in quotations marks “strongest man” for whitebeard as if he didn’t believe it lol wonder what he thinks now
When Lore Piece hits, everyone pays close attention. It's crazy the bombs that Oda drops.
We wanna see what a Mihawk and Shanks fight looks like also.
Good theory… you did a good job 👍🏻
now that i think about it, im not sure who Whitebeard reffered to when he talked about his scare(well, one of his many scars)
I want this guy to see more one piece content and react on them
Split the skies
Shanks just radiates awesome.
Haki will become very important and will be explained later.
The four "emperors" are really just the four most powerful pirates who have fleets and rule territory. The Navy plus warlords is as powerful as any one of them.
