I am also amazed with this car. My father bought one a few years ago for short distance trips and city ride. Even though the car doesn't look special, it really is. As many others already mentioned, it looks small from outside but is very spacious inside, especially the trunk and the head room. Engine is very small and on the paper, 999 cm3 and 58hp seems week, but the car is very light and each cylinder has 3 valves, which makes the car very live and fun to ride. It is faster as you think, and because od its size, it is very simple to find parking place or to make tight turns in the city. The drivers position is very high and the pillars are thin so the visibilty is excellent. Inside is everything so simple to find and use, and even though it's a economical car, it has the front power windows, hydraulic steering, central lock and even the Air condition. What the car doesn't have and what it really needs are the front airbags and ABS system to make it safer. But nevertheless, it does have front selfventilated disc brakes which ads to the safety. All in all, it is one small, cheap, interesting, reliable, spacious, live and fun car to ride. I would recomend it to anyone who needs this type of car....
The car was introduced in 1997. I thought the same. When i first drove atos in 2011, i thought that the car reacts like it was from 1989 not from 1999. Its not only about the interior but also about steering and comfort. Befeore driving atos, i was driving the 2003 fiat panda and the difference is huge. Distance from Atos to Panda is bigger than from Panda to the new cars. But atos has also advantages- it is very spacefull and very reliable.
Indians are familiar with this car - Hyundai Santro here. It's economical and fun to drive car with Peppy engine, light clutch and loads of cabin space!! It is a perfect car for city usage. Its manufacturing stopped here a few years ago, but the name Santro is so popular that Hyundai has named a new model after it.
After my horrible experience with Vw Passat 2,0 tdi 2014, I have decided to return to simple cars, as simple as possible. Atos is a charming little car, and even if people say it is for city, I think you can reach to the end of the World without any check engine light!
In Indonesia have 2 type of this car, Hyundai Atoz and Kia Visto Que/Zipdrive. I Have Kia Visto Zipdrive, I bought it in 2019, until now I still use and maintain it. quite comfortable for my little family
In South Korea, most of these cars are exported abroad as used cars, so it is difficult to find them. The remaining cars are being sold at low prices as cars for short-distance commuting or for people on a tighter budget. (Used car within 1,500 euros) It looks small from the outside, but it's spacious on the inside. It is an economical car, but the old compact car is no longer popular here. :( It was sold under the name 'Santro' in the Indian market and recorded high sales. There is a story behind the fact that it was popular with turban wearers thanks to the high ceilings. To tell you an interesting fact, this car was sold under the name of 'Kia Visto', not 'Hyundai Atos' in the Korean domestic market. Only the emblem was changed to Hyundai and sold to overseas markets. There is a separate model called the real 'Hyundai Atos'. The two are designed on the same platform and look very similar, so it's hard to tell them apart unless you look closely. The easiest way is to compare the C-pillar and rear design. There is a complicated story here. In 1997, there was a time when many companies went bankrupt due to the economic crisis in Korea. At that time, Kia Motors was on the verge of bankruptcy, but Hyundai Motors took over Kia Motors and effectively merged them. Yes. Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors are independent brands, but they are one company. In 1997, Hyundai Motor launched the Atos first, and two years later, in 1999, Kia Motors redesigned it based on the Atos and released the Visto.
They were produced for the European market as well. But even here they became very rare because it is very populair in africa. A lot of lybian guys are buying this cars for export.
@@Hellaorj Interesting! I am well aware that this type of used car is very popular in Libya. Today I learned something new while researching this car. Added new content to my comment.
There is a little bit funny story about this car. After my mother got her driver's license in 2000, our family bought this car. My grandfather taught her how to drive every evening for a month. Unfortunately, she wasn't very skilled at driving, and my grandfather told her never to drive again. However, she had to drive for her job, so my father continued to help her. At the end of her private lessons, our whole family visited my grandparents with this car. When we arrived, and my grandfather saw that my mother had driven over 100 km on the highway, he was very angry and shouted, "You tried to kill the whole family?" This car was sent abroad around 2015. Now I am a driver also. When I was child I didn't realize that driving with a 50-60 HP engine is such hard work, especially on the highway.
In my country it was sold with 0.8 51hp 4 cylinder engine. In the early model, it was offered with 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic. In 3-speed automatic version, Rev is already 3000 at 70kph. I am curious about the RPM at 100kph and acceleration of auto version
We still seeing those cars here in Colombia, those are very popular in taxi services, however the goverment is trying to take those cars out of the street because they are unsafe. Also some of the taxi drivers does not keep their cars in good shape
I had Hyundai Atos, but previous version. It was a good car. But engine was a little bit to weak for me. And they had poor gearboxes. But engine quality was very good. Good times, good times with this car

I absolute love that car to be honest. Not gonna lie, the interior looks like the car was made in the 1990s.
Well, 2000 is not far from the 90s
As a matter of fact, Atos had been sold since late 1990s.
the interior is nice but i personally don't like the exterior

From this Hyundai came to i30N and many other amazing car they're producing currently! Work, work and only work, then result comes!
Today it was my first time with this car but as a passenger and I felt in love with this car 😱😍
Is anyone else in love with the sound of the 1.0?

when i was a student of middle, high school.. i saw atos in south korea. After atos, hyundai didn't make mini car due to want to produce big vehicle.
Heads up! 'AX1' comming soon
It made the first generation i10 which is similar but also different 🫶🏼
Bunun hangi motoru daha iyi Koreli kardeş. 1.0 mı daha iyi 1.1 mi?
the atoz turned into the “getz” then the hyundai “i10” basically
isn't the hyundai i10 the successor of the Atos?
Getz is another gamme of vehicle which successor is hyundai i20.
Bought the atos prime new back in 2000...guess what...I still have it !!!
How many miles/kilometres on the clock now?

It's a good car that works, good gas mileage too. It sold like crazy and you can find parts almost everywhere. Just like civics camrys and corollas.
