Thanks. I'm pretty experienced with Last Epoch but your video has helped me solve the problem in cases where I am creating a build on the fly. I like your idea of setting one rule per preferred item type as a starting point. And then as time goes on you refine the preferred bases, and flesh out the affixes for each item.
PS I'm a big fan of Christmas, so I love your analogy :)
