This is the first part of a multiple video series dedicated to teaching basic concepts of synthesis for anyone who is interested, especially those who are musicians who are formally trained in music but do not have a complete grasp on synthesizers.
This video introduces the essential waves generated by all/most synthesizers (sine, sawtooth, square, triangle, and noise), how two oscillators can be mixed with some pragmatic applications (fatter sawtooth bass, punchier square wave bass, oscillators tuned in parallel 5ths), and simple FX applied for nastiness (distortion).
Feel free to reach out with questions/concerns/comments/criticisms!
Well now I want to go lock myself in a dark cave and play with oscillators for a month. Great video dude!
This was very helpful. I am using the yamaha FM app. I wish I had a keyboard

hey man, ive been searching for a while to figure out what the hell a certain synth sound was. it was an either acending or decending synth sound that sounded like it was going through a warp phaser. any tips on how to generate this sound or what to call it. i can provide sound examples if necessary
Cheers and i love your videos
