About the Single Plane Swing.
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

The sweet sound of pure
ball-striking!
It’s incredible that he is 65 years of age in this video.
No question about it, Moe is a true golf legend!!
We are so lucky to be able to see and hear Moe via these videos. Todd, not that you aren’t fully aware but you are one fortunate dude to have been able to spend the time you did with him.
@@Iktilellc don't be racist!
I'm replaying this as I go along just to hear the sound of club on ball. Amazing.
The sound of greatness to go along with that feeling. :)
It's that drive through the ball. Just amazing path through
There will never be another Moe Norman
This is my favorite of all the clinic videos, by far the best audio. The sound of the strike is amazing, but I love hearing the spectator's reactions when he starts calling his shots with the driver. "OH MY GOD!"
How he had the swing so dialled in is just incredible. Amazing muscle memory
im now obsessed with mo norman
The sound of those impacts almost brings a tear to the eye! Thanks so much for sharing Todd.
My pleasure!
Sound has been "enhanced" for your pleasure
I have watched his swing for years. His right hand is what I try to copy! That is a key and I have improved greatly. I am 62 years old.
His swing rhythm and tempo is perfect and I feel very comfortable.
the impact sound is incredible!!!
I attended a demo Moe did in Orlando I believe in 95; i believe it was during your two day tournament back in the good old days. I was teamed with billy golden and his nephew. As moe was hitting someone offered him 10 or 20$ if he could hit the furthest flag moe responded “golf is a game of accuracy not distance!” I watched his expression change as he hit each shot longer and longer until he was flying the target. People were actually tearing up because they said they could tell moe was “losing it;” I thought if that was “losing it” then wow!!! Whoever challenged Moe tried to give him the $$; Moe just said “I don’t want your money; like I said golf is a game of accuracy not distance!” I’ve never seen a video of that demo; hopefully someday I stumble across it. After that tournament and demo I was hooked!! Billy’s nephew also hit the longest drive a few members of course said they ever saw; clearing a wide lake on a dogleg hitting the green; I asked if that was really single plane he just smiled we also came in second. Was an event will never forget.
C'était véritablement un joueur d'exception. Bravo L'ARTISTE.....
Man he is just having so much fun! Awesome
yes. he loved demonstrating.
Did moe actually prefer hitting balls on the range to playing golf?
So fun to watch Moe, love your content Todd. One thing I've never heard mention, although I think Bryson may have, is that it appears that the lead elbow faces the target at address. Unlike the conventional swing where I've always been instructed to have the insides of both elbows facing towards the ball.
good point. Yes, Moe tilted and his lead arm (elbow) faced the target
Never get bored watching this👍🏻
An amazing man and one of the best ever golfers.
What great golfer and character. 41 course records! Amazing
I love to hear the comments from the people watching Moe. They are just amazed as I would have been had I been there.
it was amazing.
The sound of pure strikes, one after the other, it's incredible. It's crazy how far he stands away from the ball. One would think that you can never be precise like this, but he clearly shows the exact opposite....
Have been a fan of Hogan and Norman for years. Totally different personalities but both possessed similar actions. One thing that isn’t really debatable though because we have the film is that it is one plane. Both of them feature the hands coming up and over in transition as they should as it is driven from the ground up but that isn’t one plane but rather two as Hogan described in 5 lessons. Moe was definitely on for this video as he was for the bag pipes video that Kowalsky released years ago. Purity of motion and as good as it got.
Master of the golf swing and Supreme confidence with a club in his hands. Everyone said it, everyone knew it.
BOING and then that strike. Fantastic.
Todd talked about key's/puzzle/s to Moe's swing in which I have found a few of them by just watching Moe swinging while he intertwines with the crowd!
One main piece of the puzzle/s to me is that Moe's backswing - elbows do not go much higher than his hips, keeping his right elbow close to his torso in his swing, he also stretches way out on his pulling back of the club on his back swing - (he explains why in one of his video's) thus him creating a swing that is repeatable and as perfect as Moe does! We armatures can get it wrong by picking the club up to early on our back swing and also trying to take the club round the back of our necks, then we need to get that club back on plane to strike a ball like Moe - I don't think so! Todd and Moe has helped me create a swing that is repeatable and that is what every golfer wants, I am an old guy of 70, but I am playing more consistent golf now to when I was 3o years of age! The one plane swing is the future swing in how golf should be played for a continues repeatable swing! Moe may you rest in peice and have happy day's in the clouds! I look forward in watching Moe's film when made!!
I have often wondered how many balls Mo could hit in six hours of he had access to one of those new fancy ball lifting/dispensing practice tees!!! Also would have loved to see him on shot tracer...Todd it would be great to somehow use the footage you have to find his ball flight and overlay the image of a tracer. That would go viral...
Definitely want this
Yes indeed
Search moe norman shot tracer lol
"I never fight it"
Let the resonate people. It's some of the best advice you can have early on and later on. If you aren't fighting it, you're living it. This game is so incredible... if you just put in the effort. If any of you are doubting the game... don't.
Todd, never get tired of Moe, manipulating the ball at will. Love hearing him describe what he does. There is gold in his words and thoughts.
The Legend of Moe Norman's Golf Swing: listen to that cold steel ring !
Love the sound.
I don't think moes swing is very repeatable for most people. It is just so unique but works for him as he practiced on it endlessly.
In Moe’s swing, the body moves less and more efficiently, it’s easier. The data shows this.
Way to keep Moes legacy alive, Todd!
thanks.
Even though he’s wearing slacks, you can see the powerful muscle tone in Moe’s legs. Never worked out in a gym a day in his life, and at 65, he still had such great power.
The rainman of golf, amazing contact.
Moe is having as much fun as the people watching him!
C'est un homme et un champion hors du commun !, le goff est simple avec lui pas de cinéma ni d'artifices ridicules !
the sound of the strike ... but the best quote ... hit it over the red one ...whack yer know be quiet ..the best
Never gets old💪
Never.
Did you hear that !!! Hogan loved watching mo mo loved watching hogan....friendly games...Hogan practiced against the best ball strker alive... smart man
Moe was not a good communicator but he was a genius. Now that I have been to a Graves School it is clear to me that listening to Moe and watching Moe are not even in the same time zone. Moe said things using language only he understood. Twisting for instance. He, I am sure did not mean the twisting of the body to create a perfect ‘swing’. He meant the twisting of the hands you must have with a multi plane swing. His club face was not square to the target line for 40 or so inches as he kept saying. His club face was perfectly square to the path down to the ball with no wrist flicking, but to Moe, with his precise, unchanging swing path it was the thought in his mind. The ‘palm’ thing was how he saw where he placed his right hand, not the leading hand. He somehow intuitively knew the fingers of the trailing hand were way to flimsy to match his perfect golf swing with minimal moving parts. Like Nikola Tesla, he was not completely sure how he knew what he knew. His swing, and Moe described it so beautifully and eloquently as a ‘little robot’ that he educated until it, the ‘little robot’, told Moe what to do!!! Moe could never tell a lie. Thanks, Todd!
I could watch Moe swing it all day.
sound enhanced to make impact louder.
im starting from scratch - he is awesome
The hardest club to hit is the wedge. That just dawned on me how right Moe is with that statement.
I don't agree with moe on that one but I see the point he's trying to make re variation
I can’t even imagine how his impacts would sound with modern equipment. It’d be deafening
I love UA-cam for giving me this :-)
Todd when is the movie dropping?
The Documentary will be done this year.
I wonder if Moe always shot with “half” swings, like John Rahm, or is it only half because we only have vids of Moe when he is older (lack of flexibility with age)? Every Graves video, Todd makes a full back turn (more moving parts?) just a thought / question
No "Half Swings" here: ua-cam.com/video/36KSt6AF_zs/v-deo.html
half is controllable ,,,,,,,,,,,,,long, bent over head is less
todd, it seems to me with the distance that moe stands from the ball, kind of reaching keeps the body out of the way of the arms swinging and that's what it seems to me when i try it.
Good observation.
I wish someone would make a movie about Mo. He was an amazing golfer.

@@ToddGravesGolf...Thanks. I see on the website Moe addressing a ball on a bottle, I have to say...Moe would pass as Jack Nicklaus brother in that photo. Thanks for these videos.
It’s Show Time!
Hey Todd what does Mo mean by keeping things in front? Arms and hands?
The spacing at address is the same spacing back and through. You are not swinging around your body but in front to start, in front in the backswing and then in front in the through swing. This is the beauty of the single plane swing - it is actually the proper space from start - back and then through.
hips dont hide swing behind him,,,,,,,,,,,,his hips r back sitting,,,,,,,,,,,,left arm dominant,,not right side
Hi,
At about 11:30 Moe says that he tries to hit his neck with the shaft on the downswing. What does he mean by that?
lag
keep shaft close to right side
Todd…at some point it sounds like he says “inside to inside”. Did he strike the inside of the ball a lot?
Takes the club inside on the backswing to hit the inside of the ball in the downswing.
@@ToddGravesGolf thanks for the reply! Makes sense. Was that something he did every swing? Or trying to hit a certain shot? Sorry, should’ve added that in my first question
club stays close back thru ,,inside
I love the crack that’s made when Moe hits every club
me too.
gotta love 8:48
lol.
Moe Moves to the left side whilst his right leg is pushing clockwise.
Moe has the feeling that the club is moving right as his body moves left.
This is the vertical drop.
What year was this? Moe is still ripping it!
1995
Pretty dang good for a 66 year old
Amazing how he never misses one on the toe, I would have loved to hear Moe's impact with a wooden driver
Me too... kerr.. smack...
There's a video on todds channel of him hitting a wooden driver from 1987.
"Extended arms"? Everyone does it these days. Since Bryson showed us it has power in the arms downswing.
Unless it was an optical illusion, in this session he seems to have a closed stance when hitting Driver?
Yep, Moe aimed slightly right and then "pulled it" dead on target.
he hates fades
phenomenon
I heard “...350 yards...”. Did I hear that correctly? Moe can hit that distance in this age?
moe avg around 250~260 on his driver from what I gathered, but that's with the old equipment... he said about how he hits longer than his younger days during the last few years of his life, and he actually didnt like that - he said "do i want to hit longer than now when iam 100? no" Since SPS switch, my longest driver is 340 on a 177cm height and 80kg weight with avg of 300 down the middle, so Moe was and IS right - purity of technique will yield distance
exageration
Ball contact sounds like a rifle shot, solid as it can be hit.
Ol' Toad Graves becomes illuminated. Sold your soul did ya Todd?
I just hit balls at the range using the single plane swing and holy shit I've never hit balls so straight and so consistent.... ever. the biggest thing is I have to remind myself to drop the club from the backswing instead of trying to push the ball.
LADY: "Hit it over the red flag"
*Hits it*
MOE: "Now, be quiet"
you caught that?
@@ToddGravesGolf I hang on his every word - there's a lot of hidden wisdom in the those words :D
@@BillyWhizzle same here, that was so good!
Has anybody see mo in person and see the ball Flight
Hundreds of times.
He is a freaking machine, I'm tired just looking at him.
Machine.
Its almost meditative watching Moe crush ball after ball. He was more dependable than "Iron Byron".
Yes. He was.
No matter how I try i cant get a straight shot
우주 최강 골퍼 노먼
Picture this. He could hit it 350 on call, and he didn’t have to beef up like Bryson!
So the Iron Byron Robot has it wrong.
no leg action
Just focus on his release. That’s his key
I didn't come here to hit golf tees what a character
It's thereapeutic watching moe hit balls
Have you notice Jordan Spieth this past week end HOW he plays around HIMSELF. Moe said it best "everything is in front"!
Yes.
👍👍
When I first started playing I practiced a lot without lessons and had a swing very close to Moe's. Then I decided to have lessons and they told me I was doing it all wrong. ...(annoyed) 🙂
yes. The Golf world (PGA) doesn't understand Moe.
It's funny, everything you need to know is a short video
1” off line 270 lol
Dropped it in a divot....no different...dosnt matter
A form of idiot savant. His skill was so uniquely, creatively his alone. He created and perfected a swing that was so different and yet so consistently efficient and effective, partly because he viewed the world differently than most.
Moe has made comments about his "little robot" in other videos and I think it created his swing and continues to test golf clubs today..!! All of the golf club testing machines I have seen operate on a single plane to produce testing results. Constructing a robot to match a modern golf swing would be a complicated over engineered machine...
True.
Moe discovered a better way.
He’s a stick
