My advice is not to get sucked into being scared. Chemo wasnt half as bad as i orig thought. Just drink a ton of water every few hours and hydrate the heck out of yourself...it will carry the stuff put of the bod faster. And please shave ur head like i did. I looked pretty good. Its a good exp to have a shaved head. Keeps u humble

Don’t shave your head right away. Not all chemo causes hair loss. If you start to lose your hair, then it is your choice, but wait and see.

I am lucky to live in Australia 🇦🇺 My chemo treatment is free at my local hospital . 💫 The only thing I pay for is a new anti nausea pill called " Akynzeo" . It is optional to take this but is recommended . 💫 If I don't take this the staff said I can take a weaker tablet called "maxalon " .. I take one capsule of " Akynzeo" , one hour before each chemo session and I get charged $7.30 per capsule . 💊 It is meant to stop nausea for
about 4 days after taking it . ✨ I have had 5 sessions of chemo so far and have not felt sick at all . I have 2 different chemo drugs given to me at each session... Paclitaxel and Carboplatin .

Day 3 my whole body was in so much pain, day 4 it was in my lower back and my legs, day 5 the pain is still in my hips and worse in my legs. I rest quite a bit but do get up to do some movement exercises with my legs, but nothing seems to take the pain away, I have been spraying with Arnica Spray as well. I am 68 yrs of age. Ok I have to ask this. I don’t have cancer but, someday I might, which is why I ask. We all know that nausea (no matter what the cause) does not always lead to vomiting. For anyone that’s had chemo: In the case of nausea from chemo, how often does it tend to lead through to vomiting? More often than not? Or LESS often?

    • @MarinaBlackford

Hi Kristie! Make sure to check out my radiation videos. I share some tips there for the skin. I did not have a high risk for lymphedema due to not having many lymph nodes removed. I know one of your oncology doctors or nurses can prescribe a compression sleeve to help prevent lymphedema though. There is risk of damage to the lungs and heart from radiation. Your radiation team will have you hold your breath to help prevent this. This process comes down to what type of cancer you have, what's the best way to get rid of it all with the least chance of reoccurrence and if you're okay with the side effects. Everything is your choice and you should voice your concerns so you feel comfortable moving forward with your treatment.

Bad advice to eat any kind of sugar even honey when one has cancer.

I would never advise anyone to eat sugar. That is up to them. “Sugar” aka cane sugar more so is inflammatory in the body. Honey is not. I found 2 peer reviewed medical articles stating honey has anti cancer properties and actually aids Tamoxifen in killing breast cancer cells. Link here:

I did not. I probably could have but I liked the companionship and support on the drive especially after chemo was done.
