@@Anarchnid It takes 15 gallons of water to produce 16 almonds. 80% of almonds are produced in California, so the water used takes away from other irrigation usages and makes the surrounding areas drier. Which is that last thing that Will-Combust-If-Looked-At-Wrong California needs. Not to mention the pesticides used which damage the water sources along the way. Then there's the bees, which are transported en masse to the farms to pollinate the almonds, which results in the deaths of those bees. We like bees, they're sort of useful.
There's cashew milk, banana milk, soy milk. All sorts of less-harmful non-lactose options. There's also goat's milk which has less allergens than cow's milk. Almonds suck.
