It's good to see Exurb1a on the list. I've been watching his videos for years. He's got a great way of getting that 'depression turtle' out of its shell.
Fun Video! I do feel like sequels always get rated higher since first books tend to have all the people who quit on the series weighing it down. Network Effect and Nemesis Games are my top two rated fiction according to GoodReads, and both are deep in their series.
Great video man, as someone who has just really started genuinely enjoying reading (at 40 years old) your channel is a gold mine of information on what to read next! Thanks.
Cool video idea! I may have to steal it lol It’s fun to be reminded how much you enjoyed the Mistborn trilogy. I didn’t love the first one and I have yet to delve into The Well of Ascension. But hearing you gush about the trilogy as a whole makes me excited to get on with the series again
You should! It was a lot of fun! You are much more well versed in the fantasy genre than I am, perhaps it's just because I hadn't read a lot of the tropes that you will of seen before, but Mistborn really made me excited for the entire genre, that I have previously had trouble reading.
Nice list, I've only read PHM but it's one of my all time favorites - lots I want to read. I went and looked at mine and just like you said, it's all manga at the top lol.
This reminds me I should read the Murderbot series some time, I enjoyed The Witch King by her. I looked at my top 10 on Goodreads based on goodreads ratings and it was a surprise. I have read over 1500 books on Goodreads. The top was The Poisonous Pixie's Second Book of Poetry which I really liked and it turns out I was the ONLY one to rate this book, so it has an average rating of 5.00, second on the list was a book I'd forgotten "The Hunted", which was the 18th book in a series, I guess those who are following the series really love it, otherwise they'd have given up long ago, I hadn't followed the series...if a book can't work as a standalone I am not interested. There were also a few Georgian books, I guess Georgian readers are less critical than Anglophones when reading a book....like with Manga fans and Western fans ... who tend to leave high ratings regardless... I'll have to take a look at Criminolly's original.
Yeah I definitely see a trend of books later in series being higher rated, as only people who already liked the series are still reading at that point.

His videos you say, I did not know there were videos. I shall go watch them right now!
Oh his channel slaps! I am dug in for the night!
And now that ive watched all of his videos I am lost.

Yeah, not many people still reading book 5 of a series they don't like.

Wow thank you so much I really appreciate it!

Such a fun video! I really need to read Project Hail Mary sometime. I've actually seen this video a number of times so will tackle it in future.
You should do it! Both reading Project Hail Mary and doing the video!

Yeah I'd love to spend some time trying to figure out why manga is generally rated higher than books on good reads.
These are always interesting videos. We have wildly different thoughts on Mistborn 😆
Haha yeah, it may be to do with me not having read much fantasy before Mistborn. At the end of the day, different strokes and folks and all that innit
@@BenjaminsBookclub it certainly is 🫡

Hm, The Fifth Science is now on my radar.
I think you'll like it!
Cool video. I don't think I want to know mine. lol😊
Thanks haha! Certainly surprising to see how highly some books are rated!
