  • I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to do a beaded cap. I’ve created this video to use as a reference and help bearers with some tips on how to bead a cap.
This is my first tutorial - target audience for people who are familiar with beadwork.
Thread used is NYMO B or D can also be used. I use size 10 short needles.
Hope this is helpful (my first tutorial🥰)

Love your tutorial for beading a cap! Plan to do one soon. Awl is pronounced “all” not “owl”!

    The tool is an AWL.
Pronounced as with an O. ORL.

Awesome video straight to the point. Clear directions and seems simple enough. Hats seem the way to go since it’s almost summer 🖤 #senecanation

Have you done a design on the top of the bill, from the bottom seam line (the guide on the top you’re using now) to the third or fourth seam up towards the crown? I’m curious how to do the front curves since they’re so much sharper than the bill curve is. Any chance you can do a video on this?

Have you tried putting the holes in with a sewing machine needle with no thread. Just setting the width of the stitch to create the holes so you don’t have to keep starting and stopping to make the holes. Using like a leather or heavy denim needle in the machine would make it go faster. Just a thought.

There's a tutorial on UA-cam for a grad cap...hope it helps. Also I've been beading a few hats and really love seeing the different ways to do hats. I use upholstery T pins to make my holes. And I used a pair of tweezers to pull my needle thru on difficult passes thru. Thank you for making this tutorial. I wanted to ask how you bead your curves on the bill? I always struggle when I get to that part....😊

When you thread your needle, do you knot it on just a single end or double up the thread?
